Chapter 170: Is This the Genin of My Village?

As time passed, evening slowly approached.

The setting sun dipped lower on the horizon.

The warm hues of twilight cast their glow over the mountains, illuminating Sasuke’s figure before the darkness gradually consumed it.

*“Ding ding!”*

*“Ding ding!”*

*“Ding ding!”*

After unleashing another Daytime Tiger, Sasuke’s mind echoed with the sound of three consecutive alerts.

“It’s about time.”

Instead of immediately opening his system interface to allocate points, Sasuke gazed at the sun sinking beneath the horizon.

Night was about to fall.

When that happened, it wouldn’t be suitable to continue using the Daytime Tiger.

Deactivating the Eight Gates technique...

*“Ding ding!”*

*“Ding ding!”*

*“Ding ding!”*

In an instant, Sasuke’s mind was bombarded with seven consecutive alert sounds as his body transitioned from the Gate of Shock state back to normal.

A profound wave of exhaustion washed over him, weighing heavily on his heart.

Opening the system interface...

*Current System Points: 19,094*

*Add Points!*

Sasuke swiftly accessed the interface and allocated eight points to his Physical Attribute, followed by one point to his Mental Attribute.

A gentle hum resonated—

An overwhelming wave of comfort coursed through Sasuke’s body, dispelling every ounce of fatigue.

*Current System Points: 19,086*

“There’s still this much left?”

Sasuke’s eyes flashed with surprise. He recalled that his system points had been around 19,200+ before his training began.

Now, there were still over 19,000 points remaining.

This barely consumed anything!

But…

Upon closer thought...

The afternoon’s training had actually consumed nearly 200 system points.

If he’d used this amount for weighted training, it wouldn’t have been depleted even after a full day and night.

With Daytime Tiger, he could unleash it approximately once every three minutes.

Even so, the points gained still increased slowly.

*Observing Attributes*

Sasuke carefully analyzed his updated stats:

- *Mental Attribute*: Grade S (12/5000)

- *Physical Attribute*: Grade S (2001/5000)

- *Illusory Attribute*: Grade S (0/5000)

- *Ninja Technique Attribute*: Grade S (0/5000)

- *Strength Attribute*: Grade S (985/5000)

- *Speed Attribute*: Grade S (984/5000)

- *Chakra Attribute*: Lightning x2

Sasuke scrutinized the data, sitting on a nearby rock and calculating carefully.

“If I train like this daily, my Strength and Speed attributes could each increase by about 150 points.”

“For these two attributes to level up, they need 4,000 more points each.”

“So, it would take…”

At this thought, Sasuke frowned slightly. Instinctively, he wanted to count on his fingers but quickly realized it wasn’t a problem his fingers could solve.

“Roughly 20 days, give or take!”

Sasuke made a quick mental estimation.

In truth, this speed was already exceptional.

After all, these were thousands of points. A month ago, achieving this kind of progress was unthinkable.

However…

The higher the level, the more points required for upgrades, which made it feel slower!

On the other hand, his Physical Attribute was nearly halfway to SS grade.

It was on track to become the first attribute to reach that level.

“Plenty of points to work with now!”

Instead of leaving the area or closing the system interface, Sasuke scrolled down to the lottery screen.

*[Lottery]*

A bright red slot machine appeared on the interface.

The seal on the slot machine was gone, and it was active again.

At the bottom of the slot machine screen, a countdown timer ticked away.

*Limited Time: 39:28:46*

The timer was steadily decreasing.

Each lottery session lasted 48 hours and only occurred once a month.

Sasuke had figured out the system’s pattern by now—it was strictly monthly!

The screen of the slot machine displayed three rows of letters. At this moment, the letters stopped at **SSS**.

“If I hit this, what would I even get?!”

Sasuke couldn’t help but sigh in amazement as his gaze shifted to the lever on the right side of the slot machine.

*Free!*

The bold letters were impossible to miss.

“You’ve got to be kidding me!”

“System’s gone soft on me!”

“Every month, I get a free spin?!”

“If it’s free, no reason not to try!”

Excitement sparkled in Sasuke’s eyes. He hadn’t expected the system to be this generous, offering a free chance.

Since it was free, there was no point in hesitating.

*Spin!*

With a thought, Sasuke pulled the lever.

*Whoosh whoosh whoosh...*

The letters on the slot machine spun rapidly.

*Clink clink clink...*

Accompanied by realistic sound effects, the first row of letters came to a halt.

*Ding!*

The first row stopped at *A*.

Sasuke’s heart sank slightly.

This spin wasn’t going to end in **SSS**.

But…

He hadn’t expected much from the free spin anyway. Scoring an **SSS** on a free spin? That required insane luck.

*Luck!*

Right, luck!

Sasuke slapped his forehead in realization.

He’d forgotten to borrow some good fortune from Miss Super Luck.

Sighing deeply, Sasuke lamented his impulsiveness. The allure of a free spin had been too much, and he hadn’t thought to prepare.

*Clink clink clink...*

As the second row slowed down, a single letter appeared.

*Ding.*

The second row displayed *S*.

“…”

Sasuke fell silent.

This situation felt eerily familiar.

Could it be another set of mismatched letters?

This system’s lottery odds needed a serious boost—it was exhausting to deal with!

*Clink clink clink...*

Finally, the third row stopped.

*Ding!*

The letter *B* appeared.

The result was in: *ASB*.

“MMP!”

Sasuke’s lips twitched violently. He felt like the slot machine was mocking him.

Every time he spun, it seemed to spell out *SB*, as if calling him an idiot.

It was infuriating!

*“Congratulations, Host! You’ve won a Consolation Prize: 10 System Points.”*

*+10*

The number flashed before Sasuke’s eyes, causing him to grimace.

“Stupid system!”

“I didn’t spin for 10 points!”

“You’re congratulating me for pulling *ASB*?!”

“I…”

Sasuke sighed deeply, recalling similar scenes from novels he’d read on Qidian.

“Sorry.”

“I’ve let the other protagonists down.”

“This chief doesn’t deserve to have transmigrated!”

As he stared at the reset slot machine now gleaming with *SSS*, Sasuke’s frustration grew.

“Alright!”

“I’ll try five more spins!”

“No more than that!”

Convincing himself to spend 500 points on a small gamble, Sasuke rationalized it as a chance to turn a bicycle into a motorcycle.

Who knew? Maybe he’d snag a Kekkei Genkai!

After all...

500 points wasn’t a huge risk.

Decision made, Sasuke focused entirely on the slot machine.

*Spin!*

Sasuke pulled the lever again.

---

*-100*

The numbers on his interface adjusted as the slot machine whirred to life.

*Clink clink clink...*

Three letters appeared in sequence: *SAB*.

*“Congratulations, Host! You’ve won a Consolation Prize: 10 System Points.”*

*+10*

“Again?!”

Sasuke immediately initiated the second spin.

---

*-100*

The spinning resumed, letters flashing by rapidly until they settled: *SBA*.

*“Congratulations, Host! You’ve won a Consolation Prize: 10 System Points.”*

*+10*

“???”

Sasuke’s head filled with question marks.

What was this?!

Was the system rigging the odds? Could his luck really be this bad?

At least let me get *BBB* or something!

No, wait!…

---

"Even if you show up as a loser, at least show up!

All consolation prizes?!"

Sasuke had every reason to suspect the system was baiting him into spending 10,000 system points to gamble for an SSS-tier prize on the slot machine.

"This isn’t a lottery!

This is a store!"

"10,000 points for an SSS random prize pack?!

That must be it!"

"Still..."

"Since I’ve already drawn twice..."

"I might as well finish the remaining three draws!"

Sasuke was a man of firm resolve. He’d said he’d draw five times, so it would be five—not one more or one less.

There were still three chances left!

What if he hit the jackpot?

Sasuke pulled the lever on the slot machine again.

\-100

Whirrrrr...

The spinning letters slowed to a stop.

*BAS!*

"Congratulations, Host! You’ve won a [Consolation Prize]: 10 system points."

+10

The number in front of Sasuke flickered and increased.

"Another draw!"

\-100

Whirrrrr...

*ABS!*

"Congratulations, Host! You’ve won a [Consolation Prize]: 10 system points."

+10

"One last try!"

Sasuke’s eyes turned bloodshot, feeling as if his regular black irises were about to transform into red ones. He yanked the lever again.

\-100

Whirrrrr...

*ASB!*

"Congratulations, Host! You’ve won a [Consolation Prize]: 10 system points."

+10

The numbers in front of Sasuke’s eyes jumped once more.

"This is insane!"

Sasuke’s lips twitched uncontrollably as he stared at the system points displayed beside the slot machine.

*Current System Points: 18,636*

"I freaking..."

"Won 50 points!"

"But I spent 500 points!"

"What is this nonsense?!"

"Not doing this anymore!"

Sasuke slammed the system panel shut, convinced the system was toying with his emotions.

"This lottery is a scam!

Not drawing again this month!

No way am I falling for it again!"

With a flash, Sasuke disappeared using the Flying Thunder God Technique, reappearing atop the Second Hokage’s head on the Hokage Monument.

Then he leapt down, heading toward the steps beside the monument and making his way back to the Uchiha Clan’s district.

---

*Half an hour later.*

Sasuke returned to his room, lay on the bed, and stared at the ceiling.

Ever since mastering the Eight Gates Technique, he no longer had to train late into the night.

Now he could actually sleep every night.

And honestly...

Natural sleep felt better than the system’s energy restoration.

At least...

It felt better!

Time ticked away, second by second.

---

*The next day.*

Early in the morning, Sasuke arrived at the meeting point, where Kakashi had already prepared a new mission for the team.

"Team 7, today’s mission is a D-rank assignment: helping a client locate a missing cat.

"The cat is brownish-yellow in color, slightly overweight, and was last seen at 11 PM last night. Its approximate location is in the village center."

"This mission will be conducted under my supervision."

"However..."

"Sasuke will not participate in the search or capture!"

Kakashi issued the mission details but excluded Sasuke from taking part.

"What?!"

Team 7, including Sasuke, was visibly shocked.

"Kakashi-sensei, if I’m not participating, what am I supposed to do?"

Sasuke stared blankly at Kakashi, genuinely puzzled. Wasn’t this essentially telling him to do nothing?

"Sasuke, you’ll do nothing. Just follow along for two hours, then report to the Hokage’s office," Kakashi instructed.

"Just me?"

"Yes, the Hokage has a special task for you." Kakashi nodded.

"I see," Sasuke replied, falling into thought.

---

As the team searched for the missing cat, Sasuke’s mind raced.

"What could the Hokage want from me?

What task could it be?

And why me?"

Two hours passed, and they still hadn’t found the cat.

"Sasuke, time to report to the Hokage’s office," Kakashi said.

"Understood."

With a single hand sign, Sasuke vanished, reappearing at the entrance of the Hokage’s office building moments later.

He walked inside, climbed the stairs, and followed the curved hallway to the door at the end.

Knock, knock, knock.

"Come in," came the Third Hokage’s voice.

Sasuke entered, finding only the Third Hokage inside.

"You called for me, Lord Hokage?"

"Ah, Sasuke, you’re here."

The Third Hokage stood, lighting his pipe and taking a deep puff before exhaling a smoke ring.

"I have a secret mission for you. I’m classifying it as..."

He paused, looking directly at Sasuke.

"An A-rank mission!"

---

---

*+25*

The number in front of Sasuke jumped again, showing a slight upward trend.

“I trust my judgment!”

The Third Hokage fixed his gaze on Sasuke, his smile growing brighter.

“I’m going to find someone,” Sasuke said as he opened the door and walked out.

---

*+30*

The number in front of Sasuke increased once more.

...

After Sasuke left.

The door to the Hokage’s office opened, and several individuals entered. Leading the group was Shikaku Nara.

“Shikaku, you heard what I said earlier, didn’t you?” The Third Hokage asked calmly.

“I did,” Shikaku replied.

“What do you think? Whose side is Sasuke on?” The Third Hokage raised his eyes to Shikaku, waiting for an answer.

“He doesn’t seem to be one of Danzo’s men,” Shikaku offered his most straightforward judgment.

“But he doesn’t seem to be one of ours either,” the Third Hokage sighed. “I don’t know if it’s just my imagination, but I feel like the kid is far too suspicious of others.”

“What should we do?” Shikaku inquired.

“Gekko and Yugao, you two follow Sasuke in secret. If he’s going to find Jiraiya, then everything will be fine. But...”

The Third Hokage’s tone grew serious, causing both Gekko Hayate and Uzuki Yugao to hold their breath.

“If Sasuke doesn’t go to Jiraiya or if he somehow disrupts the situation...”

The Third Hokage’s gaze deepened as he stared at the two.

“You know what to do.”

Hayate and Yugao exchanged glances, both catching the gravity of his words.

“Lord Hokage, is this really the right time to act against Sasuke? After all, that person is still alive,” Shikaku cautiously advised.

“What are you thinking, Shikaku?”

The Third Hokage’s expression shifted from stern to relaxed, glancing at Hayate and Yugao with a faint smile.

“What I mean is, if Sasuke doesn’t go to Jiraiya, you two bring Jiraiya back instead.”

“Yes, sir!”

Hayate and Yugao exchanged a surprised look but quickly responded in unison.

“Make sure Sasuke doesn’t notice you. If anything happens to him during the mission, prioritize his safety.”

“Yes, sir!”

With the Hokage’s instructions clear, Hayate and Yugao donned their ANBU masks and disappeared in a flash.

---

*Sasuke, after leaving the Hokage’s office*

Once outside, Sasuke felt something was off.

No Jonin in the village? How is that possible?

Even if there were no Jonin, this kind of mission shouldn’t fall to a Genin like him.

And besides, wouldn’t it make more sense to send someone familiar with Jiraiya?

The fact that the Third Hokage specifically assigned him for this task—it couldn’t have been a random decision.

“There must be an intention behind this,” Sasuke thought, his lips curling into a sly smile.

“If you want me to contact Jiraiya, then I’ll do just that. Let’s see if you’ll regret this decision.”

---

---

Sasuke's lips curved into a sly, mischievous smile. He couldn’t understand what the Third Hokage was thinking, but it didn’t matter. This was a perfect opportunity to stir up some trouble.

Last time, the Third sent him to the border, nearly triggering a full-scale ninja war.

This time, the Third wanted him to find Jiraiya. Well...

Sasuke didn’t have a concrete plan in mind—he’d take it one step at a time. But there was no way he’d let this end so simply.

Time to cause some chaos!

The Chūnin Exam timeline shouldn’t change.

As for everything else?

Let’s shake things up.

Maybe he could create more variables!

With that thought, Sasuke immediately activated his chakra. His body shimmered and vanished in an instant.

In the next moment—

The ninja tool storage room.

Sasuke reappeared beside a box containing Flying Thunder God kunai.

Among them was a kunai engraved with the word “Origin.”

"Now I’ve got three Flying Thunder God kunai."

"If I’m heading out on a mission…"

"I’ll expand that to nine!"

Sasuke grabbed six more kunai from the box, carefully inscribing the Flying Thunder God formula on each handle.

While Sasuke worked on the kunai—

On the roof of the Hokage’s office, Moonlight Hayate and Uzuki Yugao stood watch, scanning the area below.

“Where’s Sasuke?” Yugao asked softly, a hint of confusion in her voice. They had moved quickly, but there was no sign of him.

“Split up!” Hayate instructed, nodding toward Yugao. He added, “If we don’t find him in five minutes, head to the village gates and leave a marker for contact.”

“Understood.”

With practiced synchronization, the two disappeared in a blur.

Back in the storage room, Sasuke finished marking the kunai and stowed all nine into his tool pouch.

After completing his preparations, his body flickered again, vanishing with the Flying Thunder God technique.

This time, he appeared atop the Second Hokage’s statue.

When Sasuke arrived, Hayate and Yugao were already out of sight.

Perfect timing—they’d avoided each other completely.

"Time to get moving," Sasuke said to himself as he began descending the statue. Since the mission was to find Jiraiya, he’d get straight to it.

A few minutes later—

Sasuke arrived at the base of the Hokage Rock and began walking toward the village gate, making no effort to conceal his presence.

Before long, Hayate and Yugao spotted him.

After ten minutes, Sasuke reached the wide-open village gate. There were no guards, so he walked straight out.

Strolling along the main road, Sasuke felt surprisingly at ease.

No attachments. No distractions.

Refreshing.

But after walking for about five minutes, Sasuke’s ears twitched.

Huh?

He heard faint footsteps, light yet deliberate, maintaining a constant distance from him.

Not too close. Not too far.

Just like that time with Kabuto…

But these two weren’t as skilled as Kabuto.

Heh.

Sasuke smirked. It didn’t take much to guess they were sent by the Third Hokage.

Didn’t he say there weren’t any jōnin available?

Judging by their movements, these two were definitely not ordinary chūnin. If they weren’t full-fledged jōnin, they were at least elite.

Their steps were steady and deliberate.

They were good trackers, even if not on Kabuto’s level.

Fine. Let’s see if you can keep up!

Sasuke grinned slightly and suddenly surged forward, accelerating with a burst of speed.

The wind roared in his ears as he dashed away, his pace rivaling that of Rock Lee’s assault on Gaara. In mere moments, he’d covered hundreds of meters.

+50.

The system registered his action as “showing off,” confirming someone was indeed watching him.

Sasuke’s rapid sprint caught Hayate and Yugao completely off guard.

“After him!” Hayate commanded.

The two chased after Sasuke at top speed, alarmed by how fast he was.

They could barely keep up, and the gap between them and Sasuke widened with each passing second.

At this rate, they’d lose him entirely.

Both realized it, but there was little they could do.

Sasuke, still running ahead, could hear their movements clearly.

Their covert tracking had turned into an overt pursuit.

“Interesting,” Sasuke muttered, smirking. Instead of losing them completely, he suddenly turned and charged straight at them.

His sudden reversal caught Hayate and Yugao off guard.

In an instant, Sasuke closed the distance, and both sides came face-to-face, barely five meters apart.

One wore the signature black Uchiha attire, exuding a carefree yet untouchable aura.

The other two, masked in typical ANBU style…

Except for the long purple hair.

Obvious much?

Sasuke didn’t need to guess—the woman was clearly Uzuki Yugao.

Which meant the man was Moonlight Hayate.

Sasuke’s deduction was flawless—he even felt like a detective.

+60.

The system awarded him more points as he pieced things together.

Both sides froze, staring at each other in awkward silence.

“Hello, ANBU ninjas!” Sasuke greeted them with a cheerful wave.

+70.

His nonchalant greeting made the system ding again.

“….”

Hayate and Yugao said nothing, unsure how to respond to this surreal situation.

This… was embarrassing.

Never in their ANBU careers had they faced such an awkward mission.

They’d been spotted by a genin, and yet they couldn’t abandon their task.

What a mess.

“If I’m not mistaken, you’re Moonlight Hayate and Uzuki Yugao,” Sasuke said, confidently naming them.

+80.

The system rewarded him again.

“….”

Still silent, the duo’s thoughts grew increasingly complicated. They almost regretted wearing masks—getting identified so easily was just mortifying.

But they were also relieved their masks hid their expressions.

“I have a mission to complete. You must be busy with your own, considering the Third said the village was shorthanded. Carry on—I won’t disturb you!” Sasuke added, throwing in a comment he knew they’d overheard earlier.

+90.

Another point increase.

“….”

At this point, Hayate and Yugao were at a loss. They were seriously considering returning to the Hokage to request cancellation of this mission.

“Well, I’m off. I’m in a hurry—lots to do. Take care!”

With that, Sasuke crossed his arms.

A surge of energy burst from him—

Eight Gates. Sixth Gate. Gate of View. Open!

In an instant, green chakra engulfed Sasuke, radiating waves of energy that made Hayate and Yugao’s clothes flutter violently.

What?!

Isn’t that Gai’s technique?

Hayate and Yugao were stunned.

Before they could react, Sasuke vanished in a burst of speed, leaving behind fiery trails and explosive footfalls as he sprinted into the distance.

“….”

Hayate and Yugao stared blankly after him, utterly speechless.

“This is a genin from our village?” Yugao asked, removing her mask to reveal her shocked expression.

“How are we supposed to track that?”

Yugao felt this was harder than an S-rank mission—maybe they should call Gai-sensei for this.

“Tracking failed. Let’s report back,” Hayate said, equally shaken.

The two shared a helpless look before turning back toward the village gates.

This mission was an utter disaster.

---

Sasuke activated the Gate of View and sprinted through the trees at full speed. The branches shattered wherever he passed, creating a deafening noise.

"That should be enough."

Sasuke didn’t stop but instead slowed down slightly as he deactivated the Eight Gates.

Ding, ding!

Ding, ding!

Ding, ding!

...

A series of six “ding” sounds echoed, signaling that his physical stats had increased.

*Attribute Points Added!*

Without hesitation, Sasuke allocated seven points directly to his physical attributes, fully replenishing his stamina.

"Now it's time to head to the town where Jiraiya is!"

Sasuke had a mental map of the Land of Fire. After comparing it with the one provided by the Third Hokage, he quickly pinpointed Jiraiya’s location.

Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!

Sasuke’s figure darted swiftly between the branches, now moving at his usual speed.

As Sasuke passed a particular branch, an odd figure emerged—a man resembling an aloe vera plant. His orange eyes locked onto Sasuke’s departing form.

“Why is Itachi’s little brother out and about again?”

White Zetsu’s voice was filled with excitement. He sounded like an enthusiastic spectator enjoying a front-row seat to the drama.

“There’s something off about this,” Black Zetsu said in a low voice. “Missions in the Hidden Leaf Village are typically assigned to squads. It’s rare for someone to go out alone.”

The two, currently sharing one body, watched Sasuke carefully from what they thought was a very safe distance.

But...

Their conversation...

Was completely overheard by Sasuke!
