Chapter 238: The BCD Plan

No! More precisely, Black Widow and Captain America were knocked off the overpass.

In mid-air, Captain America saw the enemy’s mask knocked off.

“Bucky?!” Captain America would never forget the face of his best friend.

Time seemed to freeze at that moment.

The sudden shock left Captain America unable to react, and he fell alongside Black Widow.

But Bucky didn’t. Still brainwashed, Bucky was a living weapon. In a split second, he grabbed the guardrail of the bridge with his metal arm just before he could fall.

Falling from a height of several stories would be brutal. Captain America was left dazed by the impact, while Black Widow, with her superior agility, adjusted mid-air. She landed on all fours like a spring, rolling forward to disperse the impact.

If this had been three ordinary people, the fight would’ve ended right there, everyone calmed down with their heart rates flatlining.

But, unfortunately, it was the three of them.

Watching from the sidelines, Atreus commented, “Stop fighting, no one's gonna die like this.”

Just then, a fleet of SWAT armored vehicles stormed in.

"We need backup!" Black Widow shouted urgently into her earpiece.

But in her mind, she heard: "That won't be necessary."

Huh!?

Over a hundred guns, along with machine gun turrets mounted on the armored vehicles, were pointed at the four of them.

Neither Captain America nor Black Widow was bulletproof.

Helpless, they raised their hands in surrender.

...

The bald Hydra agent, who had betrayed them, couldn’t escape his fate. Despite a media helicopter hovering above filming the scene, the Hydra soldiers didn’t dare fire on Captain America in broad daylight. But as soon as the door to the vehicle holding Sitwell, the bald traitor, closed, the muffled sound of a silenced pistol rang out.

A sense of foreboding washed over Captain America, Black Widow, and Falcon.

“Kratos!?” Seeing the two black-helmeted soldiers guarding them, Black Widow tensed up.

Atreus's voice echoed sarcastically: "Are you sure you want me to take down Agent Hill?"

Black Widow’s eyes widened as she saw one of the soldiers knock out the other with a stun baton.

With a stylish move, the soldier removed her helmet, revealing the familiar face of the beautiful Maria Hill. She smirked, “This thing is so heavy.”

Hill wasn't surprised by Black Widow’s reaction, thinking to herself: No wonder she’s the best—cool under pressure.

Soon after, the three were taken to a secret facility by the dam, where they encountered none other than Nick Fury, alive and bandaged like a mummy.

Though Fury looked like he had been through hell, he was alive.

Seeing their former boss, Captain America and Black Widow exchanged relieved smiles.

Catching up was the least of their concerns; the real issue was that Hydra had taken over S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters.

Fury’s expression turned serious: "We must assume those three Helicarriers are fully manned by Hydra. We need to stop them from launching. Even if we fail to stop them, we have to get our program module into their core server to regain control, or a lot of people will die."

The original Insight Plan was designed to have the Helicarriers identify and eliminate terrorists with long-range cannons from the edge of the atmosphere. But with Hydra in control, the plan had turned into a slaughter of anyone resisting them.

At that moment, Fury’s secret phone rang. A video call popped up, revealing Tony Stark, looking disheveled with dark circles under his eyes: "Hey, Nick! Did I hear correctly that the old man’s been arrested? What’s going on? I woke up to the news after pulling an all-nighter."

"Tony, they’re fine," Fury said, exasperated, turning the camera around.

"Hey, Tony!" both Captain America and Black Widow greeted him.

Tony instantly calmed down. "Oh, you guys are okay. So, is this another secret mission I’m not supposed to be involved in?"

With his distinct tone, Fury replied, “Mr. Stark, thanks for your concern. For now, please focus on your safety. We might need your help, but we’re still figuring things out.”

“Alright, call me anytime. I’m always available.”

Tony had no idea that his face was on Hydra’s hit list.

Just then, Agent Hill interrupted: "Director, we just received a call from Lois Lane. She wants to know if Superman should assist Captain America."

Uh... sensing the moment, Black Widow raised her hand. “Kratos knows too. He said he could rip the Helicarriers apart anytime.”

Everyone’s expressions turned strange.

No one said it aloud, but in their hearts, they were laughing at Hydra—With enemies like these, how do you expect to survive? These guys are unstoppable!

If replacing the Helicarrier server module was Plan A, then they now had Plans B, C, and D.

And each was more absurd than the last.

No one knew how future generations would remember this crazy chapter in history, but it certainly wouldn’t be called Captain America 2.

Fury’s political instincts kicked in. He clasped his hands together on the table. “Ladies and gentlemen, I’d like to keep this internal to S.H.I.E.L.D. if possible. Let’s avoid having the nation’s heroes dismantle our billion-dollar Helicarriers. Tony, Superman, and Kratos... are Plan B.”

Captain America objected, “Involving them would be more efficient and minimize casualties.”

Fury shot him a glance, sighing. “That’s the difference between us. If the public finds out that Hydra hijacked those Helicarriers, they’d flood the White House with rage. This could destabilize not only the country but the entire world. Even an incompetent government is better than chaos.”

That’s why Fury was the Director, and Captain America was a hero.

Their worldviews were fundamentally different.

The Hydra takeover of S.H.I.E.L.D., once a tragic event, now felt almost comedic thanks to a certain interloper.

Atreus didn’t know if this world would still have Captain America’s iconic speech, but as the God of War, he was holding back.

However, this time, he could declare proudly:

“Gentlemen, I love war!”
