Don’t try this at home! … at least not exactly like this. When you see an image online, you have no idea of the backstory and realities of that image.
This tutorial includes a fascinating account of that back story, written by Blue.
This particular scene is not what we originally planned. We had to make some changes on the fly. Changes that increased the risk. This is the story of this shoot, the inspiration for it, reasons behind it, what changes we had to make, why we had to make them and how we compensated for the greater risk we were accepting with that change of plan.
More than my normal annotation of what ties we used and in which order, it is perhaps Blue’s story that is the most important education in this tutorial.
