Apocalypse Tamer Bestiary: Apollyon, Underland II Takedown, Vainqueur 47 Preview

Happy Halloween everyone! 

I finally received the new art batch by Dinovoila! And what better to celebrate the year's spookiest day than by showcasing Basil's worst foe yet? This post includes Apollyon's bestiary entry and Vainqueur 47 preview. 

A fair warning that my country is going through daylight saving time; so chapters might appear one hour late or early depending on your timezone. 

I intended to release a new part of the Underland Bethor side-story for Halloween but couldn't complete it in time. I'm sorry for that. I intend to work on it in-between the Apocalypse Tamer volumes to have it released somewhere in November.

- Apollyon, Horseman of Famine

Passive Perks:

• Kaiju: Apollyon is truly colossal. His gigantic size grants him an immense modifier to HP, SP, Strength and Vitality, but also a heavy penalty to Agility and Skill.
• Horseman of Famine: Apollyon is immune to all status ailments and Insta-Death effects. Additionally, all non-[Bug] creatures (allied or not) within fifty meters of Apollyon have a 10% chances of suffering from the [Famine] ailment each minute.
• Bug Crown: Abaddon immediately inflicts [Charm] on all [Bug] Types within fifty meters of himself unless they possess a higher level, higher Charisma, the boss status, or immunity to the [Charm] ailment. If the ailment is lifted on a [Bug] Type affected by it, they become immune to [Bug Crown] for 24 hours.
• Exoskeleton (Apollyon variant): Apollyon’s cybernetic exoskeleton acts as a living armor protecting him from critical hits and reduces all damage by 50%. However, if the exoskeleton is sufficiently damaged, Apollyon loses these benefits and risks losing access to his [Gehenna Cannon], [Sonic Shock], [Bio-Blaster] and [Fractal Beam] attacks until it is repaired.
• Swarm Force: all allied [Bug] types within 50 meters of Apollyon or [Charmed] by him gain a 25% damage reduction; this includes Apollyon himself, who constantly benefits from this protection.
• Hivemind: Apollyon controls his insect army through a hivemind. He can see through the eyes of any allied [Bug] Type, possesses drones to turn them into avatars, command them from any distance and empower them with an Intelligence buff when they are within 50 meters of him. This ability works even if Apollyon is in a different world than his thralls.
• Weapon Platform: Apollyon gains advanced proficiency (x2 damage, +10% Crit) with all of his natural weapons; this includes his twin cannons, claws and mandibles.
• Invader Penalty (-10): due to crossing into a world with a lower Level Entry Barrier, Apollyon suffers from a level penalty (10 levels) reducing his stats; each new level will slowly remove that penalty and return him to full strength.

Active Perks:

• Gehenna Cannon: [Metal], [Lightning], 500 SP. Apollyon unleashes two powerful beams of energy from his twin cannons (500 base [Lightning]/[Mythic] damage per beam). These beams are magical attacks, but they benefit from the [Weapon Platform] proficiency bonus.
• Bio-Blaster: [Corrosion], [Ailment], 60 SP. Apollyon breathes a cloud of noxious gas (100 [Corrosion] base damage) with a 10% chance of inflicting the [Poison] ailment.
• Drone Factory: Apollyon can create new level 10 Apollyon Drones by sacrificing 1000 HP per drone created.
• Devour Brood: Apollyon can devour any [Bug] type to regenerate himself. Any [Bug] type eaten by Apollyon helps him regain an amount of HP/SP equal to that of the devoured bug.
• Sonic Shock: [Wind], [Ailment], 60 SP. Apollyon unleashes a powerful sonic wave (100 [Wind] base damage). This attacks heavily damages structures and has a 10% chance of inflicting the [Madness] ailment.
• Rampage: [Physical], [Ailment], 50 SP. Apollyon can self-inflict the [Berserk] ailment on himself for five minutes, ignoring his own ailment immunity. In this special rampaging state, all damage taken by Apollyon is halved and the power of his [Physical] attacks is doubled.
• Charge: [Support], 50 SP. Apollyon can gather power for one minute to double the power of his next attack. However, he must stay immobile while charging and loses the boost if targeted by a super effective attack.
• Fractal Beam: [Light], [Metal], 60 SP. Apollyon unleashes fractal beams from his eyes (100 [Light]/[Metal] base damage). These beams ignore half of a target’s defensive stats.

Lore:

Born a weak larva on a distant, hostile world, Apollyon has grown mighty on the slaughter of billions. Replacing his flesh with metal in the name of strength, he has risen to become one of the Maleking's top generals, a Horseman of the Apocalypse Force; though he caresses the hope of one day growing strong enough to overthrow his master and rule in his own right as an independent warlord. Apollyon swarms worlds with his brood, starving them of food and stripping the land of resources before moving on to the next target. Although the lowest leveled of the Horsemen, he is by far the most resilient, relentless, and a force to be reckoned with.
