Sons of Sparta is a game that does get better with time cause it has the usual tropes all metroidvania have which is the full capabilities are introduce slowly. In the beginning, yes it’s clunky and the combat seems one note until you get all the items + upgrades. I had the same issue with Prince of Persia and actually never beat (I need that damn double jump which felt like it took forever to get). Once people get passed this 2-3 hour mark I think it catches on. But like Collin said it’s just an okay/good game.

As someone with three kids that sucked out snot. I can assure you that when you’re in the thick of a sickness that won’t go away for your kid. You will do anything in your power I can assure you and I hate getting sick. I love the history talk. I have a BS in Archaeology, minor in History, and a Masters in Psychology, and I have the same thoughts as Colin on academia. The certainty that the scientists and academics speak on matters, as if they were present for the event itself, is actually humorous. Taking Archaeology courses in 2010, the dates on the first peoples in the America's was just being updated, just like Colin said. Academics have so much pressure to "publish or perish" that upending or even challenging the paradigm could have them isolated and barred from promotions or tenure.

I've gone down that thought process as well, but land on - your boss approaches you and says they need 12 GaaS titles by 2026, there are ~ 20 first party studios... Just about everyone pitches their ideas. Leadership needed to say no to some ideas and say why don't you work on xyz? Your team isn't built to sustain a GaaS. It just isn't their DNA and I would have loved to see them try their own IP. It's like asking me as a food scientist to go build an engine.

My takeaways from the BluePoint shutdown: Bend will be shut down after they release another failed live service game. Insomniac's X-Men game is almost certainly going to be a live service game. Media Molecule hasn't put out a game in a longer span of time than BluePoint. Why are they still around?
