Brad, since you're a fan of BTBAM, another heavy progressive suggestion, albeit very different, would be the band Ne Obliviscaris. They fuse progressive death metal with clean vocals and most uniquely a heavy dose of violin. I didn't think it would work when I first was introduced to them, but I've since become a big fan. Citadel is an excellent album and if you had to pick just one song I'd check out And Plague Flowers the Kaleidoscope.

Just starting the episode, just think how narrowly Filip Miucin missed the window where he could now just ask chatgpt to write his reviews 😂

A heavier band that I’d recommend would be the Swedish band, Avatar. Criminally underrated. They’re metal/groove metal with great rhythmic guitars in their stuff. They have a good mix of heavier and softer vocals through out their songs.

Brad one band I recently discovered that's more hardcore is Maruja. The one song I'd recommend is "Look Down on Us" which is probably their best song.

Great Heavy music:
Currents (excellent mix of harsh and clean vocals, check out their new EP but everything they’ve done is great), Silent Planet (more out there but really cool ethereal vibe especially love Antimatter), Make Them Suffer (cringe name but great riffs and vocals, check out Doomswitch), Stray from the Path (super woke vocals which I like but not for everybody, great old school hardcore sound), Callous Daoboys (had maybe the best album of last year).
I could honestly go on with recs forever, if you need more lemme know I’ve got some good playlists.

Thornhill and Currents for some good new metalcore. Thornhill actually opened up for Sleep Token on their latest tour.

Oh Bradly, if you want a variety of heavy music, I got you covered. I got a lot of variety that I am into but it’s mostly metal.
Archspire (fast, sounds like machine guns with deep screams).
Unprocessed (technical, melodic).
AVOID (Mainly listen to anything from their album Cult Mentality. Pop punk/metalcore with a lot of energy in every song).
Brothers of Metal (Power metal with a Viking theme. Listen to the entire Emblas Saga).
Darko U.S. (Shit that will melt your face off. Super heavy, listen to the song Praise The Sun).
Electric Callboy (Techno metal, heavy music that will make you wanna dance).
VOLA (Hard to describe, honestly. Listen to the song Straight Lines and you’ll get the idea).
Showing Teeth (Just came onto the scene. Only have two songs, both great. Badass female vocalist).
Rise of the North Star (A weeb metal band from France. Yes you read that right).
Crossing the Rubicon (instrumental metal band with a clarinet).
Hit me up if you want more.
