The best part about having time stamps is that you can easily avoid all of the DEI talk that seems to always make its way onto this program. There are many people out there who can discuss this issue from both sides, but here at LSM there is only the same opining thoughts that keeps repeating itself week after week. What came out from March 1- until Sept 2024 ? 6 months of nothingness. It’s a weak year that picks up in the final quarter . I’m excited for space marine , Astro Bot , Indiana Jones but The 6 month lull was brutal . It was basically SoE during that period . Except I've had no problems with my controllers UNTIL this generation. One of my original two DualSenses has stick drift , and I bought a second PS5 and the controller that came with it got stick drift within a month. And don't get me started on Joycons.

Yeah I’ve heard that a lot that’s why I was hoping Colin and Chris would give a more nuanced take on DEI consulting firms like Sweet baby but I’ve heard “Racists on the internet are attacking Sweet Baby” probably 1000x but have yet to hear why DEI consulting firms don’t detract from the creative process of making a game with politics no one wants in media OR if DEI consultants contribute to making a game better. I forgot to post this last week but it came up. I understand there’s a chance that you might get a faulty controller, but I have never gotten stick drift on a 1st party controller on any of the 3 console manufacturers. Dual Shock 3 & 4 that came with the console. Dual Sense. Dual Sense Edge. Multiple Xbox and Xbox Elites. Switch Pro and 6 Joycons. I buy a lot of controllers so this is off the top of my head. You know who has gotten stick drift in my house? My son. My filthy son. If every controller you have gets stuck drift it’s because you’re dirty. Wash your hands. Don’t eat while you play. As soon as my son stopped playing with dirty hands, problem solved. Take care of your controllers. Additionally, I play a lot of FPS, Souls, & fighting games. So I play a lot of games that require quick reflexes and could lead to controller damage, yet still no problems.

Colin is 100% right about Tales of Kenzara: Zau. I’ve done my due diligence and platinumed the game as well and there’s no DEI DNA in this game. At all. If we want to have honest conversations about DEI that get to the heart of the argument, then we need to actually do the work to analyze games and the gaming industry deeper than surface level (i.e. Sweet Baby Inc. worked on Alan Wake 2 and Kenzara: Zau, therefore compromised). It’s a lazy, dishonest way of approaching the conversation and does nothing to further the discourse in a meaningful way.

I don’t really care about Sweet baby or DEI but most of the criticism I hear about both is that they are a worthless distraction to prioritize in making a good game. Chris made the point that a lot of DEI/sweet baby games are just bad games and it’s like yeah that’s the point maybe if they focused on making a good game instead of catering to an audience that doesn’t care and won’t play the games anyways people would have fun with the product. It is a pointless endeavor and gamers just want devs to focus on making the game the best it can be and not on American diversity politics. Microsoft releasing most of their big titles on PS5 six months to a year after they hit Xbox and Gamepass day 1 seems like a pretty good compromise on their end, as it basically gives their fans some benefit to staying in the ecosystem. It’s not unlike the compromise Playstation fans seem likely to face in the future, as more and more Sony exclusives head to PC about a year later. Do you buy the platform that allows you to get the game immediately, or are you content to wait and get it on the platform you primarily play on?
