Comments

Maybe it was the latency on the call or something but the way Brad kept interrupting people the whole time was bad.

Michal Dudic

It's because of his toxic trophy obsession 😂

Bailey Callis

You better be calling Chris the bastard 😆

Bailey Callis

Yeah, that touchscreen to pan in Hotline Miami on PS Vita is exactly why it plays worse there, than on the big boy consoles. You have to take your hand off controls to do it, meanwhile on PS3, for instance, you just pressed L2 to pan the screen around and you could still move and aim. Using this mechanic was unfortunately integral to playing HM since enemies could see you, and kill you, from beyond the screen. It didn't stop me from getting the platinum on the Vita, but I remember that it felt frustrating and cumbersome to play because of that. In case anyone wants to check these games out - avoid the PS5 versions, since they have crippling hitching and stuttering issues that get worse and worse the more you die (I think they moved it to a different engine). At first it's fine, but in the later, more demanding levels, you have to wait like 20-30s to play after each death. On the topic of HM2 - it was inferior becuase you were locked to certain loadouts, skills, and masks in most missions, the story became almost incomprehensible, and the maps became too big. It was no longer a bite-sized experience you could just play a round of before bed.

MISZCZOGRZMOT

Yup you hit the nail on the head.

Rick P

That PS1 list is only surprising to me because nobody I knew with a PS1 had those games. 😅 The only controllers that have messed up on me were my GameCube controllers. Fight Night Round 3 was also the HD game for me. I’m not even a boxing fan but those graphics were insane. The game itself was solid too. Had the Burger King in it. 😅

NeO JD

Man Colin, I couldn’t agree more with you about these games being sooo long. Lol

Raymond keys

Still Wakes the Deep sounds a lot like Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs also from The Chinese Room. But speaking of Everyone's Gone to the Rapture, I tried playing it after loving What Remains of Edith Finch and found it incredibly boring.

Joseph Gedgaudas

"It's a stupid argument" (in regard to lack of Sony 1p games) is only stupid if Playstation is the only platform you play on. Its a different argument for all of us that played on all platforms and have a $600 piece of tech collecting dust in the living room waiting on 1st party (non-pc) exclusives.

Eric Golley

Brad’s hands are too sexy and strong for the dualsense to handle. 🥵

Colin Moriarty

I would like the link of the red dead video

Seany Mac

I would love if this is the case.

Colin Moriarty

Also, 2 things I'd say to Chris. 1) I also think in a lot of ways that Asylum is the best Arkham game in terms of the size, world design, story and pacing but if you play it back-to-back with City you'll notice immediately how much smoother City's combat is and it only gets better with Knight. 2) I also never really liked the look of Galaxy and never wanted to play it but I had it on the All-Stars collection so this year I finally decided to play it, and it was amazing.

I’m 90% certain my brother made that red dead video where Arthur is gay when we were on holiday 3 years ago lol

Dan Morgan

Colin drives me nuts with not wanting to play current Nintendo games. Mario Wonder is such a dope game. Dread is amazing, Tears of the Kingdom is phenomenal. However I respect a man who stands his ground.

Michael Mashpotato

To Colin’s point about Sony being at TGS. I think them being there points to them doing a showcase earlier In September, then more details at TGS. I would be shocked if they debut the PS5 Pro and the future line up at TGS. Seems more plausible they would do their own showcase before.

Sam

Only did I realise how good Mario Odyssey was until I played Mario 64 through to Galaxy. All good to great games but Odyssey is tremendous.

Jack Johnson

Only way to use the PlayStation store unfortunately. If you have the app it notifies you when your items go on sale too.

Caleb Peacock

Colin - the quintessential Carl is Winslow from Family Matters and YOU KNOW THIS

The Devmeister

3D World is actually peak 3d plataforming. Very underrated 3d Mario cause it was the Wii U one but everyone should check it out on the Switch cause Boswer’s Fury is also very good.

Breno Bezerra Bluhm

Colin, you need to play Nobody wants to Die. It’s an amazing walking sim. La Noire style and cyberpunk feel. Also, a fun platinum!

Chris Van Buren

Has Colin tried The Invincible it’s pretty good as a walking sim. It even has multiple endings.

Recently started using the wishlist feature on PS5, and now I couldn't live without it. I used to constantly forget about games I was interested in, hate looking up the same game constantly to look for sales, etc. Wishlist is so good. I also really like the newish rating system and now rate every game I play. Really hope Sony keeps this up and continues to add great QoL features.

Michael Rogers

Still Wakes the Deep is awesome! Not boring at all if you ask me (which I know no one is)

Napoleon in Rags

I bought that 3d all stars collection and lost the cartridge. Still have the case too. Never finished sunshine or 64 or even got to Galaxy. Fucking sucks. If i just bought it digital i’d still have access to it. Damn you nintendo and damn myself for losing my old switch with 8 games in the case.

Tristan Kimball

I’m 24, I’ve listening to Colin since 2014 when he was in ign game scoop

Brandon Tyler

I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s young listeners I found LSM a few years ago and I’m 24

People do use the term "Arkham-like" when referring specifically to combat. I think the difference is that Souls kind of created a niche sub-genre of games that copy other aspects of the design outside of just the combat (often the world or level design, the difficulty, the obtuse nature of the mechanics, the way lore and story are told, the way experience is dropped, areas introduced with a title drop, etc). Even though Souls didn't create most of these elements, some combination of them creates the sub-genre.

Athetos

I miss being able to throw people into the endless abyss in Arkham Asylum they took it out in the sequel.

Why do you guys think games are not called "Arkham like" but we feel free to call alot of things "souls like"? Arkham is just as influential as the souls game imo. Still see its DNA in modern games.
