I found it very disappointing, specifically the loot progression and janky co-op. Also, the endgame is just not compelling or addictive. You think it’s fun, that’s cool. I wish I did. It may be a solid 7 to you but it’s a flat 5 for me, and apparently most others. I don’t believe the journalists are solely what killed the game. They didn’t help, but it’s also fair to point out that many of us think the game iust isn’t good.

2024-02-27 22:52:31 +0000 UTCLock draws some poignant parallels between media coverage of Suicide Squad and what we saw in September. I think it’s an important conversation to be had. Whenever you bring it up, you’re often met with dismissal - folks throw out the idea that people are just intolerant of hearing “criticism” about a game. I think this is true at times, but a dubious deflection away from clear engagement-driven drivel more often. Lock I would add GameSpot’s behavior back in September as another pertinent example. They awarded a good score and still continued an obnoxious hate game campaign. Frankly, it’s just more in line with the type of behavior befitting of a “TimDog” or “JayDub” type figure… not a legacy outlet trying to court itself to the masses as a reputable source of industry analysis. A studio with less financial security than a Rocksteady could be irreparably harmed by such practice, even if they produced a technically sound and widely enjoyable video game. That’s troublesome to me and I’m glad Lock took a moment to outline that. Suicide Squad has perfectly enjoyable, soundly made gameplay mechanics and it doesn’t take a genius to see how it might appeal to others. Suicide Squad is no (launch) Fallout 76 or No Man’s Sky. It’s not broken nor a product of deception. It is also not predatory like a Silent Hill: Ascension or your loot box game of choice. It looks just as evil as any of those in light of recent coverage, however. Subjectivity is critical to any game discussion, and we never will nor should be able to remove it from analysis, but I’m not sure devoting 99.9% of your coverage towards putting a game on blast for not being the genre that best serves your tastes is particularly useful discourse.

There will be an offline mode patched in this year New characters with the start of every season, and each season is divided into 2 episodes A new episode every 6 weeks that comes with new story content, new endgame missions, and new gear sets

What was most staggering about it, was how most people seemed to be perfectly fine with spoiling the hell out of it, since it was already deemed "bad", even though it probably ruined the game for a lot of others. It also definitely didn't help that the PC version didn't run very well, which is why I personally moved over to the PS5. Hopefully Rocksteady makes an offline mode, so that it might get a second chance in a couple of years, but I'm afraid the ship has kind of already sailed.

I haven’t seen a game get spoiled this egregiously since TLOU2. I’m not talking about the “killing the justice league” part, that’s obvious, but literally everything in this game was openly spoiled by major outlets, and I just don’t think that’s cool. I wrote this into DD and Sacred back when the game came but didn’t make the cut either time, I’m just curious to hear someone else’s take on the rampant spoilers

2024-02-27 19:42:24 +0000 UTCI love looters, I Platinum’d Outriders and Godfall. I just did not have fun in KTJL. To me, it’s just a mess. Traversal would be fun if not for the constant traversal stutter on PC. The combat got super samey very quickly. The skill tree and loot aren’t exciting
