Does Monica Rambeau HATE Captain Marvel? (VIDEO SCRIPT)

Psst. Hey. You. Yeah, you (pause). You wanna start speculating on an unwritten Phase 5 Marvel Studios movie?

________

Oh, you thought I was joking? You thought I wasn't serious?

You thought I couldn't stay away after breaking my own promise the first time?

Oh, no, Readers. I wasn't playing around with y'all!

When I said that I wasn't making another WandaVision video until the miniseries was completely available to binge watch, I MEANT that shit!

Now that doesn't mean that I didn't watch episode 4 of WandaVision on Friday; th-tha... that's not what it means at all!

I was feeling lethargic, very low energy after watching Matt Mercer break the spirits of the Critical Role crew with a damn near 6-hour session the night before, and at that point I was just like...why the fuck not??

But while I watched the shit...and I CALLED the shit...

Wanda and her Doki Doki Literature Club bubble around Westview is NOT the focus of this video! It's actually what the episode reveals about the backstory of adult Monica Rambeau, and how the events surrounding them may affect the relationship dynamics between herself and Carol Danvers in Nia DaCosta's sequel to Captain Marvel.

Because if you've seen episode 4 of WandaVision and think about everything we've seen about Rambeau leading up to her involvement with the Westview anomaly, Monica and her Auntie Carol may be on a very rocky boat the next time we see them together onscreen.

Especially if, by the time that happens, Monica already gained her energy manipulation powers.

You see? It’s NOT a WandaVision video! This is a Captain Marvel one! (pauses) That uses footage and information gathered from an episode of WandaVision. There’s a DIFFERENCE

You see, thanks to WandaVision episode 4, we learn that one of the people that WAS affected by the snap was Monica...

/Who was with her mother Maria in her recovery room from her surgery regarding her cancer complications.

But during the time Monica ceased to exist, Maria’s cancer came back during the years that lead up to Endgame and ended up claiming her life./

Meanwhile according to what we’ve seen in Avengers: Endgame, her Auntie Carol wasn’t there. Even after Professor Hulk snapped Monica back into existence.

/There’s no reference to Maria during the check-ins she had with the Avengers between the time Thor killed Thanos and the Avengers going back in time to steal the stones. We don’t even see her grieve for her death or try to find Monica like we saw with Scott Lang trying to find his daughter the moment he figures out what happened after Pizza Rat helped him escape the Quantum Realm./

Hell, the only reason she showed back up to Earth was because Nick Fury paged her before HE was dusted.

/Not to mention Fury’s disappearance is the only one we actively see her emotional over when they go over the missing person’s records in the beginning of Endgame/

Basically, by the time we see her in Wandavision, it doesn’t really look like Monica’s had any contact with Carol over the three weeks after Endgame and before Westview either.

As a matter of fact, I think that was Maria’s intention of keeping her on terrestrial missions instead of joining Fury in space with the Skrulls.

/Because she knew that if she had the opportunity to go up to space, Monica would probably spend her time looking for Captain Marvel./

Which makes me think that considering everything that happened with Monica after The Blip and during Wandavision, one of the key points of Captain Marvel 2 is gonna be some form of reconciliation between Monica and Carol

/Because once you take all of this into consideration, Monica has pretty much EVERY right to hold a grudge against Carol for being as absent in her and Maria’s life as she has been, considering how close to family the three of them were once upon a time./

And considering that Captain Marvel 2 is ALSO going to introduce Kamala Khan before she gets her own Disney+ show, I can totally see the main plot of this movie being Carol and Monica butting heads, settling their differences and reconciling with each other while having to deal with newly discovered Inhuman Kamala coming to terms with her powers against whatever the threat of the movie might be

This DOES mean however, that in order for Captain Marvel 2 to not feel congested, Monica’s probably gonna get her energy manipulation powers during WandaVision

That’s partially why I’m actually happy that out of all the directors Feige could’ve gotten for it, Nia DaCosta is the one taking the reins for Captain Marvel 2

Because as I’ve stated in my video regarding why she’s the perfect choice, her directorial debut Little Woods is such a great example of how her directorial range covers the complexities of female relationships; friend and family alike.

You see the anger and frustration, just as much as you see the love and tenderness. You see them argue just as much as they listen, and they both address and properly display years worth of baggage just as much as they dangerously keep it stored.

/If the themes of abandonment and familial reconciliation are truly going to be explored in Captain Marvel 2 regarding the possible degradation of Monica and Carol’s relationship over the years, then DaCosta is the perfect candidate to move that element of development into both Monica and Carol’s characters./

But, I digress, Readers. Your homework assignment for the day:

Write in the comment section below what YOU think the dynamic between Monica and Carol is going to be like in Captain Marvel 2, considering everything we now know about adult Monica Rambeau

Or, if you feel like sharing with the rest of the class, how right I am about this video not TECHNICALLY being about WandaVision (pauses). Because it’s NOT.
