Bloodshot Trailer Reaction (VIDEO SCRIPT)

(Removes headphones and nods) Alright.
Readers, I just watched the first trailer to Bloodshot, and...I still got shit to do today.
Like, I caught it on my phone when I woke up Monday morning getting ready for the rest of my day, and afterwards I was like:
Okay (pause). Lemme brush my teeth...
Basically, what I’m saying is that it’s not...that impressive.
Like, considering that this is the first out of five movies that Valiant Entertainment is making with Sony Pictures
The projects that Vin Diesel has been part of before that have trailers for them that have PROPERLY hyped up said productions
And that the producers OF SAID PRODUCTIONS are ALSO producing THIS film
I feel that this trailer -- especially since its a full-fledged trailer instead of a TEASER trailer -- kinda dropped the ball as far as getting me to actually CARE about the movie
But that’s not to say that there wasn’t interesting things about it when I watched it, considering I’m not as well versed in the Valiant Universe as others are.
Remember in my Harbinger Wars graphic novel review when I said that Bloodshot was like MCU Winter Soldier if he wasn’t constantly sheltered and protected by Captain America?
Well, I still got those vibes in the Bloodshot trailer
/Specifically what his abilities are and how the nanobites in his body help distribute them, how the company RST goes about controlling him and how he goes about releasing himself from said control/
And while I’m sure there are definitely plenty of avenues that the trailer could’ve gone to help emphasise those points and help make the trailer POP, it just...it-it just... It just did the opposite.
/With the exception of his first big revenge scene, nearly every sequence with possible hype potential was snuffed out by a Johnny Cash song that they REALLY want you to think is badass, nearly every scene with Vin Diesel that was chosen for the trailer just felt melancholic, and Guy Pearce is playing a villain once again./
Okay, that last bit is less the TRAILER’S fault and more the actual casting department.
But at this point, seeing Guy Pearce and finding out he’s playing a villain is just as surprising as seeing Sean Bean in something and him dying in said something; because you already KNOW it’s going to happen!
Honestly, if this trailer made a couple of better creative decisions that would’ve helped put a bit of pep in its step, it could’ve been a pretty solid hype generator the movie
But despite it hitting the beats of a trailer for action hero origin film, it just felt forgettable.
And considering this is Valiant’s first foray out of five into making theatrically released movies based on their IPs, I hope that’s not a proper representation of the ACTUAL film.
__________
But, I digress, Readers: Your homework assignment for the day
Write in the comment section what you thought of the first trailer to Sony and Valiant’s Bloodshot
Did you think it was as lackluster as I thought it was, did it genuinely get you hype? I’d LOVE to know your thoughts!
