JOKER - Teaser Trailer (VIDEO SCRIPT)

(Rapidly blinks in shock)

_______

Readers, I want this Readus Reacts to act as my official apology

Not to you, mind you; I feel like you knew exactly what the fuck you were getting into the moment you pressed the subscribe button

No, I want to apologize -- and I can’t believe I’m about to say this out loud -- to Warner Brothers and DC

You see,  originally, I was pretty against this movie because of a few reasons

One: As good of a choice Joaquin Phoenix is for Joker, and before I knew they were gonna make a “DC Black” line of films with this one being the first, they’ve already established him in the DCEU and this didn’t fit

Two: The fact that Martin Scorcese was producing it initially told me that this was an attempt to compete for next years Oscars, which may still be true

And Three: Despite growing up with one and finding it fine, thanks to The Dark Knight I’ve later become one of those individuals who believes that this character doesn’t necessarily NEED an origin story to be effective, y’know?

But then once the WB and DC started making it clear what their plans were for DC Films past Aquaman and the concept of the movie version of their DC Black line became more defined, I began to be a bit more open to this movie

And now that the actual TRAILER for Joker is out...holy shit

Joaquin Phoenix looks and sounds phenomenal as...the man who will be Joker?

Sorry, it’s kinda hard to tell which origin they’re going with this one. Part of it looks like they’re going “The Killing Joke” route

But there are a few elements that are a bit different that have me questioning how this universe works

/Like the fact that Bruce Wayne is still a kid, the fact that he’s taking care of his mother I think; it’s very hard to pinpoint exactly which version they’re going with, here/

It doesn’t leave me any less interested, mind you; if anything, it looks like its gonna be a combination of a lot of different takes

Also there’s a lot of actors in this that I wasn’t expecting to be in this.

/Specifically Zazie Beetz and Brian Tyree Henry/

Like, out of all the movies I would not expect Domino and Paperboy to be in at the same time, Joker is pretty high on that list

Also way to make Jimmy Durante semi-relevant again with the use of his cover of Smile, Warner Brothers

Though, the main version of Durante anyone in my generation knows is the version in Animaniacs and Tiny Toons that always goes “A-cha-cha-cha-cha,” so...thank you for re-introducing him???

And I mean, its no Tethered mix of I Got 5 On It, and I guess Nat King Cole’s version was too mellow for you, but you were still able to use it to get the point of the trailer across; good job!

So yes, Warner Brothers and DC. On behalf...of ME

I want to say that I’m sorry

With Shazam about to be released nationwide and your plans for DC Films more clear from this trailer alone, I’m sorry I doubted your decision-making process these past couple years

Despite my feelings about Joker having an origin, let alone an origin movie, this looks really good so far

And the fact that it’s gonna be rated R has me pretty interested in seeing what all you’re gonna do here.

And after the last superhero-related villain movie I watched that came out LAST October, I, uh...I REALLY need a win (Venom Poster)
