They were completely ignoring the two of them till he got aggressive and tried to attack them. They acted out of self defense and took the boots so he couldnt attack them again. Its simple. They were trying to get to the surface, saw a tall ass building that would help them do it, that tall ass building was occupied, they were attacked and defended themselves then went about they business. I dont think they’re evil but i dont think they’re good either. I do think your right about regto being involved in some stuff but doesnt mean the stuff was shady. I mean for all we know they tried to rob him and he fought back so they had no choice but to kill him.

She's probably used them on other people who have come across her tower, but since they didn't have giver abilities or haven't angered her that much, she probably didn't hurt them that bad.
