2025-10-17 06:37:20 +0000 UTCFrom an artistic point of view, I think it's a success because you can still recognize the art-style from the previous intros, despite the medium having changed from 2D to cel shading. The only negative point would be the rendering of the dreads, they would have benefitted from having more uneven shapes, because, despite the textures added on top of them, they look fine from afar but kinda look like flexible tubes or thick spaghettis in close-up shots. Otherwise, this animation shows great storyboarding and compositions skills, and cool ideas like Lupa cooking you with the Malevolent Kitchen, or you three emulating the Simpsons intro. There was obviously a lot of thought put behind this and it shows. The music is cheery and uplifting, but -I don't know if it's just me- I think that squeaky noise in the beat is an intriguing choice, because -sorry it's probably just me- it makes me think of someone getting freaky on a creaking bed ahah. But I suppose it must be a secret reference/private joke about your couch having survived so many reactions? If I were to keep nitpicking, I'd say that Simpsons jumping animation looked a little stiff compared to the rest, and it makes sense since sometimes the more ordinary scenes are harder to deliver than epic angular showdowns. But I think it would have been interesting if the animator decided to switch to a classic flat 2D format for this portion, since it must be pretty hard to make the Simpsons' minimalistic tubular designs look satisfying in 3D. As soon as you add volume to them, you kinda lose the appeal. Overall it's a great intro. Although the first one (the one with the FFXV sample) will always be my favorite.
