2025-09-28 23:07:16 +0000 UTCtbf, "Hikaru" is the only one that's made any sort of effort to take responsibility and improve things, he's the only one that seriously brought up going back up to the mountain to try to fix things, and is actively trying to become more human so that he doesn't hurt people without realising what he's doing. Yoshiki's accepted "Hikaru" isn't human, but he's depressed and ready to die with him if it comes to that. Kurebayashi is the most at fault imo, because she's been through this once before and has seen the consequences, but she's also clearly traumatized and maybe trying to make things right with her past by helping Yoshiki and "Hikaru" in the present. They all need to start taking things more seriously, but they also have very human reasons for why they're dragging their feet. It's just going to make it worse when things finally come to a head, though.

It's a powerful and predatory yokai that ate Hikaru's soul and is wearing his corpse like a costume. I think once they accept that, they'll start making the more appropriate choices.
