I get what you mean, her parents sacrificed their youth and raised her extremely well with what little they had; they def didn’t deserve to be treated like that, and as a child with such a connection with your parents like her it’s especially hard to see them be disrespected. However they were together for seven years, which already seems like a while until you remember how young they are— seven years was literally around 1/4th of their lifespan at that point. He was one of the most important people in her life and one of the few friends she had in such a new, foreign place. Also, you have to remember that they met as young students. When you’re young it’s easy to get more wrapped up and attached with kids your own age versus your parents. It’s hard to blame her for wanting things to work with him so badly, even with how her parents were being treated. I think it just goes to show how much he meant to her

2025-07-20 06:00:35 +0000 UTCI had a problem with Geumyeong after this, no matter how much you love this guy is it really worth seeing your own parents being treated like that? She came around at the end but it still felt :/

2025-07-05 00:56:00 +0000 UTCtbh I wanted her to break up with her bf so bad. Yes her father was in a unique circumstance to stand up to his own mother but that guy BARLEY tried, saying "mother" as an interjection is not enough clearly. Why insist that y'all should be together if you knew that your mother was going to be so cruel to the girl that you love? Let her go at that point. Imo it was selfish, and yes ppl do selfish things for love but that doesnt excuse it: I'm glad they broke up.

2025-07-05 00:06:57 +0000 UTCyeah this ep frustrated the shit out of me. i feel bad for the son but if he really thought he can't live his life without geum-myeong, he should've stood up against his mother and i mean STOOD UP. i know it's easier said than done, but that's wt he should've done

2025-07-05 00:01:28 +0000 UTCWith the level of sad he was and how much he loved her. I'm happy but surprised he didn't kill himself.

2025-07-05 00:00:28 +0000 UTCYo that karma came correct tho didn't she? Old lady just miserable living a mid Old age and I'm guessing her husband isn't around because she's living with her son.

2025-07-04 23:46:56 +0000 UTCIt's really fucked up but seeing his mother miserable in her old age gives me more joy than a thousand lying whores to quote a great man. Someone help me out whomever Young-beom married is mean to his mother? If so perfection because I can imagine she's ruined the days of a lot people because she could. The the people I feel sorry for the most are her grandchildren because they probably don't feel a lot of love in Young-beom's house at least not from him.

2025-07-04 23:28:57 +0000 UTCJust one episode ago I'm feeling the exact same way after this episode tho. From a story perspective Geum-myeong takes after Ae-sun so much and Young-beom is so similar to Gwan-shik that I'm glad the story. Is giving us a kind look at what if Ae-sun and Gwan-shik didn't end up together.

2025-07-04 23:06:42 +0000 UTC"you're just like a litte child you're innocent and sweet" that's the nicest way possible for a woman to call a grown man a pussy. Gwan-shik and young be are so much alike it's crazy watching Gwan-shik in episode 2 or 3 I can't remember which the episode where she threw his ring away in the field and he was crying. He reminded me of a child, that scene almost made me want to root against him. Young-beom is the exact same way, it's just Gwan-shik manned up real quick and Young-beom didn't. Like if he had shown even a small ounce of rebellion to his mother during the dinner scene I could root for him too. Hell 2 episodes ago i was on his side but I don't think his mother is worth the headaches. She really fucked his life up. Shit his whole family treats Geum-myeong's like the help and he said nothing. I've seen similar situations i real life it it's triggering every time I see it in anything.

2025-07-04 22:58:30 +0000 UTCviewers being less empathetic towards youngbeom bc the drama paints gwanshik in a way where he sets the standard for everyone but that’s just not realistic… their circumstances aren’t the same at all and therefore shouldn’t be compared. gwanshik was able to take a stand because his mother was willing to listen and actually respected him. youngbeom’s mom on the other hand did not at all! what good would flipping the table do when that woman treats him like he’s invisible? she very clearly didn’t value his opinions and barely acknowledged his existence half the time. it’s not that he chose to not take a stand he just couldn’t because of the emotionally and financially abusive environment he was clearly brought up in… im glad geummyeong ultimately chose her peace but youngbeom didn’t deserve that miserable ending at all just bc of an abusive parent, my heart breaks for him :(
