I can't explain how awesome this episode was. I got goosebumps man. Lakhan and Maomao's adoptive dad are such great characters. Jinshi has had/is having an amazing arc. I'm so sad it's gonna be over in a month. I hope we get a season 3 announcement soon 😭

2025-06-06 07:12:53 +0000 UTCI don't think Shisui planned to take Mao Mao originally. It seemed like she's only a hostage because she figured out what was going on at the clinic. The whole colorblindness and claim to the thrown thing is really interesting. And I hope Gyokuyo had her baby safely!

2025-06-04 03:35:20 +0000 UTCMaomao figured out their plan to cause the deaths of all the emperor’s children while they were still in the Rear palace. Unless there’s something I missed or revealed later, I think the main reason they took her was because she figured out that they were scheming, and they needed to get out without having the army right on their trail. It took them a couple days up to a week to figure it out. Loulan’s affinity for Maomao or her worth as a hostage to “Jinshi”, the wives, and Lakhan might be secondary reasons why she was taken and not killed to keep the plans secret.

There is no way Loulan is on some mastermind-level knowing all of Maomao's relationships, her father being Lakhan, how meaningful she is to Jinshi etc.. There is no way Loulan knows that stuff and intentionally "kidnapped" Maomao to try to get the rebellion (her own family/friends/clan) stomped out by the Emperor's army, lol.

Lakan WAS also criticizing Jinshin for basically not being able to man up and take up the mantle of prince, apparently being too scared even for the rescue of the girl he apparently likes so much. So im pretty sure it was a double entendre or something of the sort
