Thats not even mentioning her knowledge of medicine and being able to make them. At this it would be in her best interest to be more involved, and in the know so she has imperial protection. 2025-03-31 02:40:18 +0000 UTCCouple of explanations below with no spoilers, just reminders from past episodes. In season 1 we find out that both Jinshi AND Gaoshun are undercover as eunuchs. They're both taking the medication to make them have eunuch like features. Gaoshun hasn't pissed off the previous empress, the guy at the party was referring to how after a specific incident all men working in the rear palace with the concubines and servant girls were forced to be eunuchs in order to work there. The incident in question was when a young servant girl got pregnant and accused the previous emperor of SAing her/being the baby daddy. Instead, the previous empress decided to blame a medical officer and the officer and the baby were banished from the rear palace, whilst the servant girl (just like any other young girl the previous emperor had SAd) was forced to stay in the rear palace. The Ma Clan serves the imperial family, so they are high up. Characters we currently in the anime know to belong to the clan are Gaoshun and Basen (his son).

If you look back throughout this season and last season, Jinshi is pretty often framed with the moon behind him, hinting at his real identity. In the episode last season when Jinshi goes through town with Maomao in disguise, the name he tells her to call him is "Jinka", which is also a hint. There are a lot of little things that stick out on a rewatch or if you've read the LNs. Also worth mentioning about the "Ka" thing a bit more in-depth: The Ka character is reserved for the royal family, no one else can use that character in their name. You can read more about naming taboo, as well, which is a historical concept (most notably in China) where speaking or even writing the names of royalty is considered an offence. Not a single person at the party these past two episodes referred to Jinshi by his real name, opting to use Moon Prince as an official moniker or more casually "crown prince/masked lord".
