After Awakening Senku and Taiju survive in the wild and make revival fluid for a year 16...(1 year) Senku integrates with Ishigami Village and canonically celebrates his birthday so another year passed 17 (2 years) Senku and Kingdom of Science take a year into Autumn to create the Perseus so 18...(3 years). And currently the voyages from Treasure Island and going to America has been only been 2 months overall. So 3 years at least have passed.

In my opinion, a special would be preferable, as movies take forever to reach streaming.

I remember how surprising it was for Senku to leave the Perseus crew behind but it makes a lot of sense. The Americans aren't just looking to kill them they want to rebuild humanity too (Xeno assumed it'd just be easier to control them with Senku gone). So Brody would be more than accommodating for the manpower.
