But if you look at how many chapters they're adapting per episode, we'll be past Volume 14 by the time we hit Episode 24.

2025-03-17 23:05:54 +0000 UTCIt really stops you to think how many young girls were brought to the rear palace during the previous emperor's time just for his pdf needs, after which they could NEVER leave the palace. Like once you had had "relations" (aka you were assaulted) with the emperor, you had to stay there for the rest of your life. When we see older women working at the palace, they're essentially all there because of that (aside from ladies in waiting). You'd think that there would have been more attempts at the royalty's life from sheer vengeance π

The story about the monk is an actual folktale and I love the way they animated it, it was definitely pretty freaky to read in the LNs. After the past few episodes giving us info about the late emperor, it's sad to think about just how many young girls (now older women) are still locked up in the rear palace never to be released. Just trauma on top of trauma for them.
