This! I mean they have to edit it down just to be ALLOWED to have it YouTube without a strike. They want to present it in a way that fits the style that they want to go for plus get the initial roll on the channel with views. Neet could just release a compilation with the YouTube released stuff then do a Part 2 once more comes out and make more views. But I feel Patreon Content is like the behind the scenes plus privileged access that isn't sliced for personal viewing pleasure (wink wink, jk). In the end, just ask if you aren't certain! 2025-03-17 06:21:56 +0000 UTCThere seems to be a lot of talk about the "hypocrisy" for calling out another channel when this channel is taking from the original creators, the way i see it, is that this isn't about rules or laws it's about being considerate, the point of good reactions is not to watch the movie or show for free or for cheaper, trust me i can find any movie or show for free if i wanted to it's not hard it's the internet, the point is to achieve something similar to watching a show or movie with a friend and being able to go through that experience with them, we are all here because we like the content calling it hypocrisy is a bit much it takes nothing to be kind, there is no need to look for a moral high ground.

Roshi has 53k on patreon and almost a mil on yt, while neetanime has no patreon and 1.8k on yt. Using your logic, Roshi would be the "million dollar company" and neet anime would be the creator. I enjoy watching their reactions, but I completely disagree with them threatening a copyright strike on a channel far smaller than them. They posted their video a day later and it still tripled the views of neetanimes video...

As I explained before, I acknowledge the technicalities. You are correct in that this is creator to creator and not creator to a massive company. But I'm not going to ignore the similarities just because one party is bigger. Japan having no fair use laws actually complements my point. The country's government has its stance and its companies do what they feel is necessary to protect their content. Even if I don't agree with it, that's how they roll. Some stuff is available earlier in Japan and some aren't. I like the cinema but because I live in Japan I have to wait to watch a lot of Western movies on the big screen, but I have "early access" to anime films because they come out here before they do in the states. Go figure.

On youtube their editors are top tier really adding to the content so theirs do fall under fair use in that regard. Patreon is a whole other story this is a premium service just for fans and has different legal protections hence why Roshi can essentially post whatever he wants here but NOT on youtube. Plus its creator to creator not creator to multi-billion dollar company where roshi reacting to something is a drop in the water for them and as for Japan they don’t have fair use laws and are super strict on copyright hence why its a dumb point on your part. Look at nintendo constantly copyright striking everyone over gameplay videos or people who stream their games because their country receives it early because they forgot timezones exist lmao

Having full unedited episodes and movies right there included in the reaction is definitely, uh... legally dubious. Other reaction channels edit or have timer reactions instead for this very reason. And not gonna lie it's way less convenient to have to sync up two vids and I way prefer this. But I only watch reactions to shows I've already seen anyway, so personally it's whatever. But Lotta roshis content could be taken down and he could get in trouble if companies with the rights to the shows chose to pursue it I bet. So I don't see roshi having a ton of leeway for recourse without potentially stepping in it himself. Personally though neet is justccontent mill agregrating other people's content. Kinda lame. I'm not one of those guys who think that reaction channels like Yaboyroshi aren't providing their own worthwhile content just because it primarily uses someone elses. Yaboyroshi is a whole experience for me too. There are days when I've been stressed, anxious or worse, but I always had this channel to look forward to after work. They're the only content creator channel I support monetarily. My thing is I'm not going to act like there aren't blatent similarities between Yaboyroshi being frustrated by someone using their content in a manner that they don't like and the companies feeling the same when reaction channels do much of the same. We can argue over the technacilities, but I'm not going to pass over obvious similarities just because I like them. For example, Denickart brought up some interesting points about how Yaboyroshi uploaded reactions of content that wasn't officially released to the wider world save for like Japan in some cases. So all the people that would have had to wait to see it got to see it earlier on this channel.

I guess my mind goes foremost in the discussion of their Youtube content vs their Patreon content to a situation where somebody would buy a movie and then invite friends over for a watchalong. I then question whether this members-only content is more akin to sitting on the street corner and then reselling copies of the movie cheaper and at a profit. Obviously online content is on a different scale and I don't know the laws to a T, but I know I'm not paying this subscription for the content they watch -- its a different experience to watch the content alone and with them reacting. The youtube content is cut to hell so I think fair use has to be given there. In terms of this current situation I think its slightly different in terms of the availability and value of what's being presented. No barrier to entry, minimal transformation, and actually coming out BEFORE the actual content which I think is the real issue here.

2025-03-15 06:07:40 +0000 UTCI could see the argument because on one section it’s a manner of they’re using their content for their own benefit prior to the acceptance of the channel they’re taking from, but at the same time, this channel is technically doing that also with all of these shows that obviously they don’t own the rights too. That’s not to say I’m condemning them in any form or fashion cause I’m a sub to the channel and I love the content. However, in a way both are breaking rules so that would be like stealing from somebody and then someone steals from you and then you complain to the police that you were robbed when you were technically doing the same thing. Especially because the original creators don’t benefit this way because you’re not directly watching their work where it was directly posted so they’re not benefiting in a money sense while the only one benefiting in that scenario is the channel that is reacting to it while all the subs also get to see the full thing for a potentially cheaper cost than intended by the creators of said show.

Your point about Roshi not posting before the official release does not take into account that the owners would not want him to post their works in this way, period. Back in the day, someone snitched on yaboyroshi and they lost all of their Demon Slayer content for a while. The intentions of the owners are inherent in the fact that they will get at channels for copyright infringement. They're not going to email every reaction channel every time they create a show and tell them not to react to their content. They don't want folks to do that to begin with. This is why I myself can't view anymore of their youtube reaction content in Japan without a vpn. Because the folks here and other places don't want them doing that at all, regardless of whether they wait until the official release or are personally asked by them not to react to it beforehand. As I said, I'm not rebuking him. I'm here watching them the same as everyone else. But I'm not going to look at this through rose-colored lenses.

If he's asked this channel to wait until they put out the youtube video to use it and they ignore that request, it's incredibly frustrating. I know from experience that Yaboyroshi is very gracious with their youtube content. I remember watching a youtube video by someone who basically mashed up all the greatest moments of Yaboyroshi reacting to JJK Zero. People came for the channel, but Roshi was super chill and welcomed it. At the same time, it cannot be overlooked that what Yaboyroshi does on patreon in particular could be considered outside the realm of fair use. The works that we watch here, whether we support that official release beforehand or not, inherently goes against the intentions of the creators and owners of the work. There's no way to sugar coat it. This is something that I have come to terms with myself. At the end of the day, the primary content which is used and barely transformed here (unlike in their youtube content) does not belong to them. So I can't sit here and act like what neetanime is doing is so different than what yaboyroshi is doing. Once again, I think it sucks, but I don't think this response takes into account the situation yaboyroshi and the rest of us find ourselves in. I think maybe what should be discussed is what etiquette is expected of those in the reaction community.
