Hell no, Logan would have absolutely paid 10B on Pierce if the kids didn't say it first as a conversation ender. Pierce is on its last legs; the left (the majority of their viewers) were hating on them and they were losing viewership fast (Tech is the new media). So all Pierce cared about was getting money and getting out. So yes, saying the bigger number was the only option to win, and if Pierce gets more than what they were willing to settle with and they get to fuck over Logan by selling it to his estranged kids as well, then that's a great, ego-stroking win. The dog is presumably named after Walter Mondale, who was Jimmy Carter's VP and who ran against Ronald Reagan in 1984 and lost every state except Minnesota and DC. Mondale had been a U.S. Senator from Minnesota before he was Carter's VP, and Minnesota is where Tom was born and raised.

i agree what yall saying with shiv and tom for sure but for me it’s hard to completely feel bad for him bc he is a piece of shit to everyone else but the roys and he does use shiv too whenever an opportunity opens up. everytime she wanted make a move, before it was even solidified he was hounding her about what position he’ll get. i feel like even if shiv was the best wife in the world and push came to shove tom would still choose logan over shiv everytime. we can’t act like his marriage to shiv hasn’t significantly impacted his career and status and so to make a point that shiv uses tom and to act like he doesn’t do the same thing is crazy. he knows shiv is awful yet he stays bc he wants to ride her coattails for as far as it’ll take him. at what point is getting with someone u know for a fact is fucking awful and them showing u day after day that they’re fucking awful and u getting to cry victim a little ridiculous? the things he’s expecting from shiv is ridiculous, he knows she’s incapable so why fucking stay

It's sort of been touched on and hinted at but I think this might be the first scene that really dwells on Logan's loneliness. One of the richest, most powerful men in the world, left to ruminate on the nature of people and death with his "best pal" his paid bodyguard/hatchet man. It's very stark and although you can say his choices have led him here, I can still feel for him on a human level. Having known and talked to a fair share of elderly people, that kind of rumination seems pretty common, even for those who do have good relationships with their children/family. What was it all for? That's the question waiting for all of us, in the end. Fun!

Shiv never had Tom's back. And when she 'did' it was after he threatened a divorce in season 2 after the beach talk. She literally asked Logan to put the blame on Kendall for cruises when Tom explained it hurts more to be with her than without. Then in season 3 she ignored the emotional turmoil he was going through without a thread of empathy and affection. Say what you want about Tom but every time Shiv was down emotionally he was there for her. Actually showing affection and checking up on her. Tom is a social climber but he has shown shiv endless amounts of love and affection that doesn't satisfy her.

Tom has been going through it. She literally cheated on him then asked for a open relationship on their marriage day right after Tom met the guy she cheated with. Then he reluctantly agreed and didn't even act on the terms of the open marriage while she did. Then when he finally does she gets jealous and acts like he's the asshole for doing what she wanted. The fact she expected to be able to look him in the eyes and tell him "I don't love you" and still have him on her side was crazy hubris. I don't know what kind of power she thought her pussy had over him but she must have forgot Tom came from nothing and he doesn't plan on leaving with nothing. She destroyed her marriage while Tom did the best he could. I can actually believe Tom loved her. I can't say the same for her.
