Severance 2x8

Harmony is the true genius!

Comments

Can something just not be interesting? smd hoe

nakin

go back to tiktok

wren

Now it sort of makes sense why Harmony had done things like sending Mark S. to see Ms.Casey. She was probably testing if HER invention works even with familiar faces or something.

Kareem Davis

They were doing ether. It's a really old-school drug. In the 1800s, "ether frolic" was a common expression. I have to imagine that's on purpose.

Starman Deluxe

Lupa you're the GOAT I hope you know, I see you

TheDroppedFry

I think for Milchick He’s trying to do his best to be recognized and still try and keep the peace down stairs by giving them incentives hoping that they’ll do their job 😂 but I think he’s going to get to the point where he’s going to choose between either be as tough as Cobel for the severance workers to do their job or ignore upper management and focus on the wellbeing of his employees

Witty

Like sheera said, helena's "I think you've over estimated your contribution" to Cobel earlier this season is WILD after what we learned this episode

Anthony Lazarin

@2:35 LMAO ! lupa love him some mr. milthick. he gone find a way to quote that man every episode. 🤣

angelic

Thank you for reading it! I really love Cobel's character she's my Crashout Queen ❤

naumi

There's actually 10 episodes for seaosn 2!:) also Season 3 will take a lot less time as stated by the writers/showrunners:)) 2026 most likely, a year and a half from now I'd bet

Koosha Mokhbery

Thanks for this comment- I really never thought of Harmony in this light but you're so right!

Eric Stormbringer

Another 3 years for season 3💔

Sauce

this why i’m glad i can say my opinion and ideas without a hating mf on my jock

Fred

Alr bro so what’s your grand idea if mfs like us are lesser than your superior media knowledge oh all knowing one

Fred

I really loved the atmosphere of this episode, I saw SO many people complain about the long nature shots, like bro turn off the tiktok brain for likeeeee 3 mins. This ep being shorter is my main critique but apparently the next one is extra long so it evens out. Mark my words the next 2 episodes are gonna be so crazy people will WISH they had the "boring" calm of this again, it very much feels like a calm before the storm. I also really like how Cobel and the town are reflections of each other, Lumon swept in and took everything Salt Neck had, including people, humanity. Now it's just a frozen, decaying husk that could crumble entirely at any moment and Lumon did the same thing to Harmony. She's so weirdly petulant and will snap at a moments notice, but now we see that it's most likely due to the fact she had no childhood, Lumon robbed her of that too, she's never had the chance to properly grow up. It makes me so sad for her, she's such a bizarre woman that has had decades of Lumon's doctrine filling her mind and now that they're gone, what is left of Harmony? A little girl who misses her mother and rage, I PRAY she makes it to season 3 I need to see who she truly is!!!

naumi

I do think it's funny that she trusts a former lumon employee more than her own husband though lol

Ghost_Troupe

People call it filler because it's only like 20 minutes long and the most significant stuff happens when there's only 5 mins left

Ghost_Troupe

I can at least understand this take although I disagree- sometimes you need to give things room to breathe. It's why the train scene in Spirited Away is one of the most memorable scenes in that movie (and one of my faves)- nothing really happens, and you see scenes that have little to no impact on the main overarching plot- but it gives you time to really process all that's happened. It's can seem slow for us now because we are watching episodically with an entire week between episodes, but this episode will be extremely needed when the show is complete, and people can watch multiple episodes in a sitting. The people I really disagree with are the people who said this episode is unneeded or filler. Let's say we skipped this episode and go right into Devon calling Cobel and Cobel helping them. It would be extremely disconcerting for us as the viewer. You'd hear things like "why is Cobel helping them?" and "Is Devon stupid." Even with this episode you can see Roshi and Sheera arguing that it makes no sense for Devon to call Cobel- imagine if this episode didn't happen lol.

Eric Stormbringer

that was her aunt, they say it in the post show recap

Tejiri Ubiedi

Fire episode!!! At first I didn’t know what tf was going on. But it really picked up didn’t even feel like 40+ minutes. Harmony big brain!! And yall got me living in a two story driving a regular degular vehicle. AND THEN YOU FIRED ME?! Yea yall gonna have to see me. The reveal of her designs is so crazy because now I cant even believe that she had to literally beg for the board to see her or talk to her? I BUILT THIS SHIT! BRICK BY BRICK! -Harmony Cobel, Episode 9, probably.

Kevin

slight desync on the show i feel like, not terrible tho

Tejiri Ubiedi

ep wasnt boring, yall just adrenaline junkies with brain rot the comments i mean, not Roshi nem lol

Tejiri Ubiedi

marvel-level writing. this is why im glad mfs like yall dont make shows.

Renard Jefferson

Sissy is an insanely shitty person, wow! Nothing would've stopped me from uppercutting her straight to Keir.

Garlic

12 or 9 still impressive to work on schematics that affect the brain

Fred

it is easy asf but it’ll at least make us interested in cobel and feel for her cause jus hearing she was a child laborer i feel bad but i still have trouble caring for her fr like a main cast member

Fred

People saying this episode is boring/filler would not have survived full 24-ep shows on cable. Streaming services and mini-series have fucking killed the concept of world-building outside of action sequences. This ep was more about Salt's Neck than it was Cobel imo. Yes there's the big reveal at the end, but the quieter reveal is Lumon's practices around company towns and child labour. It's about how Lumon puts up factories in small, remote towns, exploits them for maximum labour and resources, and then jumps ship once the town's destroyed. We see it through Cobel's history, but the episode isn't really about her until the very end.

KomodoughDragon

Slow where ?

Bam Bam

Slow as fuck? This season? Yeah this ain’t the show for you.

GrayStark

Roshi, from Devon's POV wanting to call Cobel does make sense. She knows Cobel was fired from Lumon because in episode 2 of this season, Milchick stopped by her house and essentially told them Cobel was fired and wouldn't bother them or step foot in Lumon ever again. Also, Mark saw Cobel packing her stuff in her car and leaving her house the night he asked about Gemma, and that's what led to him and Devon working on a plan together to get a message to Mark's innie.

AllanJ

tbh what chaos this whole season has been slow as fuck

lackingnames

this episode wasn't even that bad, some of y'all in the commentsjust got brain rot lol. worst part of this episode was the aimless driving an slow part at the diner.

Arsean Wilbon

10:43 aint no way u cant tell me lupa AINT high asf LOL

uniquepeanut

You know, that may be the case (I thought the fellowship part was the schooling tbh), but either way they plucked a child off of the street and stole her intellectual property under cover of religious propaganda, so... same thing lmao

Bria A.

I don’t think Harmony is actually gonna destroy Lumon, but more so take over the Ker family by using Mark reintegration as tool for that. The reason why is because we know she still has belief of Ker/Lumon philosophy and to take payback on how Helly and her father treated her, believing they don’t deserve to control the Severance project and Lumon due to them not actually putting in the hard work. Remember some of the people that were severed like Bert are crazy Rich folk that see severance as sadistic fun game or tool they could use as their own personal benefit.

Gonkdroidthecritic

That’s an easy reveal though.

Jazko

No, she was around 12 year-old when she left her home to fully pursue in Ker academy. you can see her last height wall marking as an indicator of when she was home. Still, we don’t know the exact time or age she fully thought up the severance project, but at least we know what her motive were and wanting to be in charge of the severance floor.

Gonkdroidthecritic

I'm wondering, could severance be implented in a way that it helps with diseases like alzheimer?

HikiFan

Y’all have to remember last episode. We just got a massive lore field episode of Gemma and lumen information. We can’t keep getting back to back major episodes. We need some pacing otherwise the show will be over too quickly.

Bam Bam

A lot of people hating on this episode saying it’s boring, but we just too used to shows that’s good as fuck, dropping banger after banger or dropping the slower paced episodes in the beginning when this is actually a good little breather from all of the chaos that’s been happening

Bam Bam

off ether at 8-9 years old cobel was working on brain schematics that’s a senku level intelligence feat

Fred

i got from her using the machine that she was replicating the wheezing and breathing her mom used to make like sitting in her old bed probably smelt like her and that sound of the assisted breathing brought her back

Fred

lumon having religious and strong influence is something we knew with the eagen school for girls. it modeled itslef like a catholic preparatory school even having songs and chants abt eagen to memorize. My issue is this episode could’ve been either episode 2,3,4 or even 5 and still fit better than at the end of the season

Fred

I thought working at the factory was the child labour n she got scouted for wintertide? Or is it the same thing

Pablo

easily worst episode in the show and it’s only bad fr cause of the placing the episode itself is like a solid 7.5-8

Fred

this episode could’ve been not boring if the reveal had some weight behind it like imagine if in the first half of the season we saw a young girl with no name given just her being ordered around and her making the severance chip jus for her plans to get taken and then later be revealed as cobel. Mfs could have theories and it would just place this episode better.

Fred

i thought the exact same thing cause tbh they have had the entire season teasing mark’s reintegration just to have it shown only the last two eps if that. I love this show but they are dragging the start of that arc out

Fred

Watch it on your first if it’ll make it better for you then come back for their reactions

Drey

This episode could’ve been at like episode 3-4. This slow ass episode this late into the season ? It doesn’t even throw anything previous out of order so it coulda been introduced early for better pacing

Drey

too boring. unwatchable.

nakin

Really sad that Cobell is the brain behind the chip when you realise she was forced into child labour in factories, probably wanted to be able to forget I'd recommend checking out the podcast the producers and actors do on these episodes as well, some interested stuff on what they wanted to convey in these episodes. Light spoiler warning though as they go into what *wouldn't* make good TV in their opinion, so it rules out a few popular theories. I will say that the reveal that the beard Mark had during the blood donor scenes is actually fake during the podcast brought me to my knees in despair

Flynnrir

The problem is having people wait a week per episode and then 1-2 years for a new season. Episodes only like 45 min long. Wasting so much of that time is bad.

TJ

Most likely Sissy is Cobel's Aunt

David Emerson

I don"t think we can trust her just yet. For all we know she's trying to take over.

Thulani Mason

Whether they used to date or not that man hates her😭 to see she was bouncing around in the bed of that truck while he was going through all that turbulence is crazy. She's lucky she didn't get impaled or concussed 😂😂

GojosHoho

I love the this is the skin of a killer blue tint they put in this episode 💀it looks cold, depressing and soggy as hell 🙂

GojosHoho

This makes what the old dude said about Irving's little boyfriend working at Lumon way before they allegedly were active SUSPICIOUS 🤔

GojosHoho

I'm guessing the huffing substance is ether. For some reason Lumon has a lot of history about ether and making it, Keir meeting his love at the factory. No idea what they make so much for.

Jake Rosendahl

I still have zero idea what the hell is going on. I need to know motives on like everyone.

cheezeblade

No shot people are saying this episode is mid. Imma blame tiktok brain because this was a spectacular lore building episode. We see just how far-reaching Lumon's influence is. They aren't just forming a cult within Lumon- they formed a religion outside of it. They were effectively grooming children while exploiting them physically for labor. They exploited then abandoned an entire town and who knows how many others went through the exact same thing. The contrast between Cobel, her mom and Sissy is showing the different ways people respond to cult influences. Cobel was a true believer for a long time and is only now rebelling after seeing that she really isn't valued by Lumon. Her mom discarded Lumon entirely and actively hated them- probably after her illness was caused by Lumon's ether factories. Meanwhile Sissy is completely brainwashed and is a full-on cultist to the end which is why she tries to destroy Cobel's notes even when faced with the truth.

Eric Stormbringer

Haha I’m saying dude really stayed outside in the cold for that long.. I would’ve been pissedd to find her in bed the whole time lmaoo

lexboflex

Harmony's Wintertide "Fellowship" (child labor) is the same one Miss Huang is currently in, I believe. No telling if it's now just a name and Lumon suddenly discovered ethics lmao.

Bria A.

All great shows follow up a huge episode like the Gemma episode with a breather episode to lore dump and delay the satisfaction of answers from the previous episode. This was great

Matthew Barrett

Real talk Raynah, those last few minutes were so damn worth it too. Can't wait for the next episode

Matthew Barrett

I think the lore drops/world building and twist were okay, I just don’t think it was worth the whole episode. Especially, since the whole episode, beside like the last 10 minutes, was super slow and could’ve been condensed into maybe 25 minutes or half the episode. It didn’t really feel satisfying imo. This episode is crazy blue also lol.

YungZeus

"There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. And I knew we'd get into that rotten stuff pretty soon." - Hunter S. Thompson

Matthew Barrett

Personally, I'm not liking the second half of this season nearly as much.

King of New York

Yea but I don’t do a reaction channel bro lol. We’re paying money to watch (rightfully so, they’re awesome) however smacking and eating during the reaction is extremely distracting

Stanley Livingston

It was fucking great. I do wish it was like 8 minutes more.

Eric

She should have pushed that old lady over 😒

GojosHoho

loved it. Only thing bad about it is how short it was

Rayanh LaNansha

Harmony: James Eagan stole my whole fucking flow! Hook for hook! Bar for bar! JAAAAAAMMMMMESSSS?????

Delinda Arts

Lore drops and implications were pretty crazy, but I did lowkey fall asleep during this reaction.

Shawn Mondol

@Graystark lmao, the cope is hilarious.

YungZeus

I gotta admit I agree. Very distracting.

KMun79

Is just world building, they answered some huge questions while leaving us with more like what did Lumen do in that town, what is the system that the kids are put through, how does it relate to Cold Harbor. Revealing that all the designs are Cobels is huge because it shows how important she is to Lumen as well. In a way this ep was the exact same as the last ep.

hokeypokey

[ addict coughing ]💀💀💀😭

GojosHoho

For a hot sec and the cropping while scrolling on my Patreon made me thing lupa was cosplaying as a nun on this thumbnail 😂😂

Hennessey

It’s definitely the weakest of the series. But I can guarantee you it’s still a better episode than 4 of your favorite shows combined

GrayStark

Sissy is Harmony's auntie. I think Imogene, her mother, was one of Kier's wives. It seems that Lumon wouldn't let the ppl of that town leave besides Harmony. I think Imogene was the one who hid Harmony's blueprints so Lumon wouldn't confiscate it. They hoe'd tf out my girl Harmony tho damn. It's crazy the way they were using those "big" words but Milchick had to tone his shit down. The subtle racism. I wonder do all Lumon supes get their position by being one of the top students at Keir's school. Maybe that's how Lumon expanded so much.

Corey Leach

this was by far the worst episode

Phil Astar

Remember that Lumon isn't just developing severance, they're a much larger industrial corporation that's been around since the 19th century. An ether factory is just an ether factory.

ryanapplegos

This episode is the show taking a breath and giving us a nice revelation to investigate further. This show has earned that. And they still showcased master cinematography and character/world building. A great bridge towards that chaos that will likely be episode 9&10

GrayStark

how it sets stuff up

Alexander Flores

This is the worst episode so far except for the ending. So slow and just nothingness.

TJ

Idk man, this plot switch was a bit too convenient for the story progression…

Guns

True I didn’t think of that!

richy

I think they left after they stole Ms. Colbel's plans.

Ren Lichtfoot

They were huffing ether. It was an ether factory they worked at as kids. Ether is a anesthetic.

Stanley Livingston

ay he hungry acting like you dont eat while watching

Alexander Flores

Right man wtf

Stanley Livingston

Man the way this man eats and smacks is so infuriating lol. Like why during the reaction man

Stanley Livingston

White Lotus reactions? 😔✌️ Feel like you guys would find it pretty funny if you guys also like succession

xest

I was expecting a mid episode after reading some comments, but I disagree, the episode was good and necessary for character building

Carlos Matus

slight audio delay

Alexander Flores

People said this episode was mid but I appreciate the lore building and them taking time to show how sinister the Egans are. Them quite literally plucking Harmony, a small child from a poverty-stricken town and stealing her ideas for their own gain and ultimately leaving her town barren (plus who knows how many other towns/kids they've done this to) was good world building. Obviously i want more direct story with Mark and Gemma but I think people will look back at this episode more fondly later on.

PetersThimble

might just be to show they literally had kids working in a mill around addictive chemicals which in return ruined the town and these people . If they can destroy a whole town they can destroy more

Keenan Taylor

Them boys on that Ether, I guess working at the mill is addictive. Kier cracked out a whole town. But how does this mix with Severance....unless Ether is a drug that triggers severance on demand... Kier is literally about to have the whole world under his thumb!

Ren Lichtfoot

i think theres like a 0.3 delay in the sound and the video. am i tripping?

I VisiBomb I

This episode is a good eye opener makes things that happened in season 1 make sense! And when it’s no opening to a episode I feel like that’s when major info is given that changes everything like episode 4

Ej

Lupa taking a bite of a McChicken mid episode 😭

traplikemaxxx

First actual mid episode in the entire series.

YungZeus

This episode they said the factory was an “ether factory” which is what they were huffing. I believe it’s what they used before anesthesia was invented so almost like a laughing gas(but ether is stronger). Once anesthesia was invented lumon packed up leaving behind their supplies and the town as is. They basically created a town full of Kanyes lol

richy

I think the only issue with this episode was that it was stretched out with little to no history. We get context clues from Harmony and the other two about more lore but they should’ve done a similar episode with Gemma as with Miss Cobel. If anything Miss Cobel was the most interesting and mysterious character imo yet they did her character dirty. 20 mins of the episode was just scenery shots, stares and little dialogue just for them meeting up. Like someone said you could’ve skipped to the last 10 mins and you would’ve gotten what you needed from this episode. Still was a good episode nonetheless!

Ryuu

Mark been waking up for two episodes

Guns

Stop hiding that 5head Roshi

traplikemaxxx

a whole group of black ice...

Roxy Rezerina

THAT'S THE EPISODE NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO omg I gotta wait another week aaaaaaaahhhhhh

Themperor

Some Severnace fanboys just can’t help but glaze every episode instead of admitting this was probably the weakest of the entire series, even though it’s still better than the weakest episodes of most other series. This plot line would’ve been better if it was the B-plot in an A-plot episode

Mads Lund

Thats the only part i find interesting is figuring out where her mindset is currently with Lumon. Fingers crossed she is anti lumon but victims tend to go back to their abusers on occasions

kingBD

So after this episode I think it’s probably safe to say that Cobel is anti-Lumon now, but I don’t think that means Cobel is now anti-severance (and the propagation of it). So I think she may still be ultimately motivated to have Mark finish Cold Harbor. That’s my current guesstimate right now at least.

Theo Vorster

How you gonna just go to bed while your ride is outside waiting 😭

goober

I just realized, there may only be a few test floors. In the first episode that foreign guy said his severed floor was a hole with a rope, the other 2 worked together in a shit office that didn't work. Now we have our characters office, this could be proof of concept for severance. The whole thing about 100's of offices and years of service, that's just more Lumen bullshit.

Huemon Nottabear

- Spoiler- Some mfs need constant jump cuts, sexual themes, or Milchick screen time to find enjoyment in the series. Might as well just pull up subway surfer bro, you aren't far off. This was a perfectly fine episode showing how Lumon is/has affecting other communities and how it may relate to the current events in Mark's current area. It's telling us that Cobel may be more of a victim than a willing soldier for Lumon.

Moon God

That opening scene made me think, "Pied Piper is tables", for some reason. That ending made me think it's time to burn down an old ladies house. Also, why'd she give Sissy the phone back?

Huemon Nottabear

yet another incredible episode wow. i wonder if one of the 5 survey questions is “what was the colour of your mother’s eyes?” because ms. cobel lost her mother and wanted to see if grief would transcend severance, hence her interest in mark and ms. casey and going out of her way to make them interact at work… also, when she drilled petey’s head to remove his chip, she did it on the side rather than on the top, so i guess there is a more effective way of extracting the severance chip? so many questions aaa i can’t wait for the final two episodes!!!

cami ً

Wasn't expecting to get anything today so this is a nice surprise

CentipedeKid

Now I get why she was so interested in mark and Gemma and seeing what got through

MrGuy3000

Great episode. I really enjoyed the Cobel backstory. And it also showed off what Lumon does to an area once it’s done with it.

BZD

I mean would you rather the content be the same but it be a third as long? I think they felt that this was important enough to show so we should, trust them.

BZD

I feel that this is the calm before the storm so to speak.

BZD

Ok while I think a lot of the revelations and characterizations of Harmony here are really interesting, there wasn't enough to give her an entire episode to herself. Flashbacks to her time at the Lumon school and becoming indoctrinated might have helped fill the episode more and given us some of the culty and corporate unease that this show builds its tension on. This episode felt way too laid back compared to the insane rapid fire moments we've been having this season.

John Cedar

I respect peoples opinions of those that didn't like this episode but I completely disagree with them. For me personally these last two episodes have been the best of the entire season so far and the last two episodes are going to be even more peak

MetalGearMentat

Glad to see i wasnt alone on not feeling this episode that much. Just dont find her character interesting enough for the whole episode to be about her. Get me back to mark please lol

kingBD

Doesn't help that it's like 2/3 of the length of a normal episode this season either though

John Cedar

Makes perfect sense, people who are born into wealth usually don't have much to offer, unlike those that have to claw their way to the top. But they're really good at taking other people's accomplishments and making them their own. Also, this is a tale as old as time for women in science in general 😅

John Cedar

This was honestly such an underwhelming filler episode. If you skip to the last 5 minutes you won’t miss anything important

Mads Lund

Harmony Cobel is mysterious AND important

XORA NICO

Slightly unsynced but was waiting for this one

Wsgyan

It’s so crazy that it’s revealed Eagan stole the credit. That explains why Ms Cobel wanted to work the severed floor again and wasn’t settling for Helena’s deal. They keep saying Cold Harbor is gonna be revolutionary, so if she got to work the floor once it was finished, she can at least be credited for that. But now she lost all her ideas AND the severed floor, so she was used twice by the Eagans.

Derpatron731

This definitely isn't my favorite episode of Severance ever but it's wild that I've seen people shitting on it and acting like it's filler. It's a fine episode that had the misfortune of following one of the best episodes of the series.

Carlos

I found this episode to be the weakest of the series so far, but I did really enjoy the reveal! I think it did the pacing of the season thus far a bit of a disservice

Noah

let's go!!!!!!!!!!!!

Internet Zing

Yehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
