Shin no longer has ANY way to come back to the palace, be it for the current emperor or beyond. But also remember, her whole sole purpose placed on her and Lihua was to become the next empress- that was all she had going for her. Her reputation is now ruined, probably no other house will take her in as a head lady or even a menial servant because the rumors of not just her abusing her consort will drag behind her, but there's also the possibility that people have heard the rumors of Lihua losing her first child, so there's prolly murmurings of like "She was also the head lady when her boss lost her child, if she can't protect her boss from that, what is she good for?" You also have to consider the times, there weren't many job opportunities for women back then, being a servant of any kind in the palace was a great honor. Shin's options at this point are almost slim to none- and since she's so proud you know her family is too. They aren't gonna let her slither back home, she will probably be cast out there too from the embarrassment. At best her dad may send her off to marry a farmer in a distant town. Any male with any idea of moving up in rank would avoid her like the plague because if she'd banished and not allowed near one of the emperor's favorite consorts, they'd never be able to bring her around with them. And at worst? She's gonna be doin some hard labor that she was never prepared for. Lihua saved her from death, but killed the chance to do the one thing she feels she was born to do. In Shin's eyes, death would have probably been the better option because she could have gone out with her head held high (in her own mind at least). That's why we saw her final stance, she was ready to risk death to make sure she screwed Lihua into being infertile. At this point she's gonna be lost to the annals of history as "The Wise Consort's cousin and former head lady". I honestly don't feel bad for Shin by any means. They definitely shoulda let Lihua get a couple more hits in lol. I am curious about who is behind all of this, it has to be someone really high up, because they'd have to have some serious pull to place things in the right place at the right time but make it look like normal stuff happening in the palace that just happens to have some unplanned results.

She’s shown on multiple occasions that she’s committed to keeping his concubines/ his daughter safe so I’m wondering if he’s wondering if he can actually trust her. If I were the emperor I’d be stressed tf out with all these people trying to get to his children so he may be looking for a person with knowledge that he can trust. But he has to be weary of who he lets have power at the same time because it just takes one person getting too high in the ranks for the wrong intentions and it can fuck up a whole slew of things. I might be reading too much into it though
