So unlike Isaac and Hector, the Abbot is kind of just using an outside mechanism to achieve the end result without actually binding them to his will.

It seems like the first batch of night creatures, like the 8 armed guy, are completely loyal and behave like the old night creatures, somewhat intelligent but silent and obedient. Then after Edouard gets turned, most of them are closer to their original form and keep their original face and voice. I think the demon that gave the Abbott the machine fooled him with stable night creatures at first, and then started fucking with it.

Which is something we can already presume to be the case since we literally saw Dracula’s soul (with Lisa) get summoned from Hell during season 4 of the first series.
