tom is just desparately in love. no roy mastermind. they are a different breed, he just tries to imitate them but he is a hopeless romantic something the roys could never be. they love in their own way but not in a real, genuine and kind way which is why tom is always acting out (crying, bursts of anger) cause he genuinely loves shiv and wants the traditional fairy tale happy ending which he wont get with a roy.

There probably won’t be another show like Succession for a while, if ever again. The budget to shoot on location at an incredibly expensive place like this (and at a new incredibly expensive location basically every week) must be pretty nuts. And the talent gathered in front and behind the camera is bonkers. Mark Mylod directed this ep and a lot of others for Succession. At this time in his career he bounced between Succession and one of the other HBO shows on at the time, Game of Thrones.
