Good and interesting points! I like Donna and think that she is a good leader also, clearly due to the fact that, before that night, Colony House seemed to be stable even with the set up. I think it unintentionally came off that way in the beginning but upon re-watching I can see this aspect too. As a viewer I do want them to be prepared for when it fails because as a viewer, seeing that this has three seasons now(?), I kinda know that this will in some way fail. I will say her absorbing her sister's personality as a means to cope is very interesting and maybe we'll see more of that later! I see that her view on it is slightly complex due to her experience and emotions, and though that is partly why it stemmed into my issues with it, I also appreciate it because it makes them feel more human, if that makes sense.

While I get where you're coming from I think that's the whole point is that Donna has the wisdom of knowing the worst possible outcome and most likely outcome. At the end of the day while Boyd is away Kenny is pretty much the default leader of everyone now and while it's good for him and others to have hope like Donna said he needs to be prepared for the otherside of human nature which is people crashing out. I don't see it as her trying to dissuade him or others just more so of realizing the shifting tension especially with the suicide. I think she's a dreamer that's why she ran colony house she tries to look for the good in things but that's hard to do in this situation I also think her sister was the original realist and when she died she kinda took on her personality a little that's just a theory though. She also tried to hold back but Kenny kept pushing which shows me he's a great and kind leader and she explained her sadness well while also explaining the potential backlash to someone who is young and in charge which shows she's a great leader too.

The problem with Donna's argument for me is that she's specifically talking to (correct me if I am wrong but I think he's college-aged or fresh out of?) a young adult who has barely gotten to live his life yet. Of course Kenny is going to want to latch onto or find any hope of leaving. I think it's fair for her to have her doubts and be skeptical, but I feel like she shouldn't dissuade others regardless of previous attempts feeling hopeless. Honestly, everyone just needs to be locked in to house with windows boarded up and a talisman, literally unable to get out. Trap everyone inside and give Boyd and maybe someone else a key to let everyone out in the morning, maybe the parents can learn lockpicking in an emergency. If everyone is trapped inside all night then I don't see how the monsters could ever get them. It's honestly kind of crazy to me that they leave exposed windows anywhere in this town. I would have boarded that shit up and maybe tried to soundproof my bedroom in the first week. Honestly, I'm with Donna for the most part. The fact of the matter is they are probably not going to find a way out of there, and if they do, the cost will be massive in terms of lives and people's sanity. At that point maybe you shouldn't entirely give up on trying, but you definitely should focus on creating as good a life as possible in Fromville. In the next couple of seasons, you will see how the pursuit of leaving is probably doing more harm than good.

Okay I'ma be honest it has a game of thrones trajectory, take that however you please. Personally for me i think it's only the ending that doesn't work and a few questions aren't answered. But I really think it's a journey you should probably experience for yourself. When the writers are cooking they really cook and sometimes certain plot lines get left on the stove too long and get overcooked.
