@thedroppedfry I was speaking as an author, which has been my full-time job for six years now. I write primarily romance nowadays, but started off with fantasy. It's fine if you disagree, but fade-to-black scenes are not the only way to portray something, and I strongly believe that setting a standard of "sex scenes are never necessary" is frankly a dangerous notion, especially for queer stories. Not everything needs to be sanitized. Also, "we already knew Vi and Cait were lesbians when they kissed". I don't see how that has anything to do with this? Why is their sex scene a way to show them being lesbians? Are straight sex scenes in media solely to tell the audience that those characters are straight? This scene was less than a minute, with no graphic nudity, made up entirely of off-screen implications. It is less graphic than the vast majority of sex scenes in media. "there is zero reason to prolong a sex scene beyond obvious implication", good news, that's what this was, implication. Also, I'm sorry, but if you think sex scenes are about "self-pleasure motivation and nothing else", this says more about you than the scenes themselves.

This isn't Fifty Shades of Grey, and it's more telling that the writer is a horndog more than it conveys any sense of 'character development'. We already knew Vi and Cait were lesbian when they kissed. A 5-minute long sex scene complete with all kinds of subtle pornography is a self-pleasure motivation and nothing else. This goes for any kind of sex; yes it happens in real life, but unless your entire plot is built around raunchy interactions, there isn't a sensible argument to be made about shoving softcore porn into visual poetry like Arcane.

Viktor was about to tell Jayce what his plans were, Jayce would have stuck around more and probably known that the Hexcore killed Sky. If Jayce had known what happened to Sky, he may have not tried using the Hexcore to save Viktor. Episode 9 spoilers: But I also feel like in every timeline, in every universe, Jayce always saved Viktor because he was his best friend. So regardless of how anything else went, whether Jayce knew about Sky's death sooner or not in the other timelines, he may have still saved Viktor.

While I agree the Magician is most likely Victor, i disagree that he saved Jayce for altruistic reasons or so that Jayce could stop him. Remember, the entire foundation of Jayce's desire to discover magic was the Magician saving his life in the snow. Assuming the Magician is Victor, if Victor's intent was to prevent this disastrous timeline, then the correct action that day in the snow wouldve been to let Jayce die. Jayce dies that day and none of this happens, it doesnt make sense that the Magician/Victor would save Jayce if he was trying to prevent all this. So i do agree the Magician is Victor, but i think he saved Jayce as a kid all those years ago so that he could ensure that Jayce would create Hextech which would lead Victor down the path of becoming that all powerful being. That said, my next question becomes why did the Magician/Victor save Jayce in the desolate world if he wanted to ensure his plan went thru when he knew Jayce was going to try to stop him. I have 2 guesses: either evil Victor still needs Jayce in someway to complete his plan or the Victor that saved him as a kid and the Victor that saved him from the desolate world are from different points in time. Like the first Victor that saved him as a kid did so out of selfishness to ensure Jayce created Hextech so he could become this powerful being but then later realized he fucked up real bad and had to save him from the desolate world to stop himself from going further.

I think so too. It's like it became this paradox. Jayce saw a future that was horrible, and in trying to prevent it, actually caused it. We can also say, as Viktor said, it started with Jayce. I assume he was referring to when Jayce saved Viktor with the Hexcore. None of this would have happened if Jayce had let his friend die when he was ready to go. At the same time, I can't blame Jayce for wanting to save him. It's just terrible that in saving his best friend, he also broke his final promise to him. Viktor would have died happy, the last thing he remembered having been the council agreeing to peace with Zaun. Instead he had to wake up completely changed, the very thing he wanted destroyed being what was keeping him alive, only to find out there was no peace afterall. A huge part of his humanity was sacrificed, and not by his own choosing. It's tragic poetry.

Don't think it's ever a fair criticism to say sex scenes aren't necessary at all in any media ever. If you don't want to watch it because it makes you uncomfortable, then by all means skip ahead. But doing purity watch over a normal human experience is just kind of immature in my opinion. It's not an inherently dirty act, and it can tell you a lot about a character or the relationship between characters, far beyond romantic implications. At the end of the day it's something that can be used to convey characterization and story development in a way other types of scenes might not be able to.

From the conversation Viktor had with Singed it sounded like he knew that by fate, he isnt meant to evolve everyone into lifeless robots(when he says evolution ends at the one glorious evolution) BUT proceeds to say that nah I wont sacrifice humanity for that. I think it mostly felt out of place because of the way they cut up the episode. At least half a day passed between Vi being locked up and Cait finding her. There's also no war going on at the time this happens, there's at least a day between that. And it wasn't exactly clear to Vi that Jinx is potentially talking about suicide—we know that as the viewer because of the conversation between her and Silco, but Vi has nothing to go off of, she just sees Jinx acting like...well, Jinx. I also didn't take it as "I'm depressed, let's have sex". Vi and Cait have been separated for presumably months, there's a lot of pent up angst and longing between both of them. I think Vi and Cait being exhausted and wanting to forget about the present was only part of it, not all of it. All in all, I wish it had come at a different time or different setting, but I also wish Act 3 in general had an extra episode minimum to flesh multiple character arcs out. There's a lot happening all at once and some of the pieces don't get enough screen time to feel whole.

The scene with Vi and Cait is really disappointing because it felt sooo out of place. They should have build it up better as they did for the kissing moments in the show. Season 1 had the same problem as the s*x scene with Mel and Jayce was in a weird moment too. It would have been better if the Cait-Vi scene was after a more longer intimate and wholesome moment and not "hey, I lost everyone, I'm depressed, but you know what? Let's f**K!". It was definitely out of place for me. I don’t have a problem with the scene happening at all but I have a problem with the TIMING of it all. If my family member gave signs that she was going to hurt herself after multiple instances before that she has depression and suicidal tendencies and wants to actually die (as seen in the first Act of season 2 and even before that) then I would immediately go after her and not have sex in my sister’s cell (which is also pretty dirty germ wise). I just couldn’t focus during it worrying about jinx instead

It was shortened because of the rating increase it would cause. They really wanted to do the whole thing lol. I think part of the reason that some people disliked it was having misunderstandings like Sheera had. The war was in fact not going on at that time. There seems to have been at least a day between that point and the actual battle. Id say more around 2 days.

If you pay attention half day already passes before Cait even let's Vi out. When she goes to get Jinx it daytime, then a bunch of scenes and the montage of people leaving ending after the sun is already set. Plus Vi doesn't really know WHAT Jinx is going to do, doesn't know where she is either and it's pretty clear from Vi's words to Cait, she thinks Jinx tricked her again. Also as Vander says "sometimes you have to fill your own cup for a change"
