My theory with the crystals is that she develops hextech in this alternate timeline which leads to what Jayce sees in this episode. Heimerdinger tells us that he arrived before Echo did and spent so many days (1000 days?) in this alternative timeline. So what if Jayce went to the same alternative timeline but he arrived further into the future than Echo did. He arrived after hextech had been invented by Powder and destroyed everything.

The Reason why Jayce couldn't carry his hammer properly was because the hextech gem inside malfunctioned. Runesmith magic allows the user to lift heavier objects. Like Heimerdinger said, it reacted different with Jayce. Ekko and Heimerdinger went to an alternate universe, the magician sent Jayce to the future (probably had to do with the stone he was given). I don't think Jayce being alive or not in that universe would have changed where he ultimately ended up. Though I do agree that hextech doesn't exist there because the project was shutdown after it had ended someone's life.

Fun Factoid on them translating Ekko's game mechanic here: Ingame, Ekko's ult causes him to rewind himself back intime, where he ends up causes a big explosion that does big damage. They translated that here to that 4 second test, wherever Ekko is when he rewinds time like that beyond the 4 second mark, he's technically doing his ult which is why Heimerdinger straight up exploded out of nowhere like that. lmfao

This episode showed that, Jayce went to the future, ekko went to the present of a different timeline and hermendieger went to the past. I think it’s based off their personality, Jayce is always looking to the future and is the man of innovation, whilst ekko is focused on thriving in the present, and hermendieger is a little stuck in the past, or just fears it. Ekko has always like jinx by the way, i mean atleast he did when they were kids

Also the reason why Jayce couldn't lift the hammer as easily is because the Hextech was deactivated in that one. Remember how they floated around in zero g the first time they figured it out, and the tools floating in this episode as Ekko powered his anomaly? Anti-grav is part of the tech, it's also how Vi's gloves aren't too heavy to lift. My theory about everyone's lives being better because Vi is dead is that Silco went to visit Vander after she died out of respect for Felicia and that eventually lead to them patching things up. Everything else falls into place from there - nobody else dies, shimmer doesn't flood the streets, Piltover doesn't have hextech to oppress Zaun or gap them economically. What we don't see is how life is probably worse for the people Ekko didn't talk to; Jayce is either in jail or dead because Vi died (remember how he was suicidal in S1 until Viktor stopped him?) while Viktor probably dies of his illness without hextech. Caitlyn never rises to sheriff because Grayson and Marcus are still alive, and she also never meets Vi.

If you pause it when Jinx spins the pendant at the right time, you can see it's the outline of Ekko's face aswell as Jinx's face. Vander actually has the "Vi" tattoo on his hand in remembrance of her. Potential spoiler in regards to Heimerdinger if you're not up to date with League lore below _ Heimerdinger being a Yordle means he didn't die. The rewinding of time was just the limit of what his physical body could do. Yordles are magical creatures that go back to their home land (Bandle City) if their physical body gets destroyed, since they can only actually die due to old age.

Man, I loved this episode a lot. A lot of things to think about with what happened to certain people in this timeline. Jayce: Is most likely in jail ( or killed himself ). He was conducting illegal research with illegally obtained hex crystals and a child died in his apartment. The counsel having been very anti-magic wouldn't give him a chance at all, not even Mel would and even if she did see an investment, I doubt she could sway them because a child died from this so hextech was nipped at the bud with his research confiscated and probably destroyed. Viktor: With how the situation happened, Jayce and him never linked up. Even if he came across Jayce's work, there's nothing he could do with it on his own so he most likely just continued with his frail life and passed away ( hopefully he and Sky still manage to have a relationship before his passing). Ambessa: Because Hextech was never made, she never caught wind of it, there'd be no reason to come to Piltover, Mel would continue to be safe ( for now ) and she's most likely been assassinated by the Black Rose at some time or attempted to find weapons in a different region but I'm banking on her being assassinated because the Black Rose got eyes and ears and assassins everywhere. Silco: I'm assuming because of Vi's death, Vander must've been so distraught that it caught Silco's attention and like Sheera said, he might have came across the letter too. Silco still was working with Singed on Shimmer, but at some point, Vander and him must've worked out their differences and Silco just decided to not distribute Shimmer and went back on track to the original plan to get his nation of Zaun without turning their people in to addicts. And because the Undercity didn't turn to drug pushing the The Chem Barons aren't a thing either and they're either contributing to Zaun, being normal, or dead or in jail having still been trash people. Caitlyn: Lost her friend, Jayce, and never met Vi, she's just living her rich girl life. Probably still joined the Enforcers to follow Grayson ( the cool woman who worked with Vander to keep Enforcers away from the Undercity ). That's probably it. Marcus: Living his best life with his daughter. I swear people hate Marcus too much, there was still good in the guy and I'm pretty sure seeing Vi's death spooked the hell out of him and maybe he was the one who put that to Silco's attention that kicked off the chain of events that lead to Silco and Vander forgiving eachother.
