I have no idea about most of what your mentioning so I can't comment on it but I'm curious if Okarun's transformed voice is layered and/or how much of the sound is due to post versus the raw recording. It's definitely possible they had him record with something over his mouth to mimic having that sort of mask on as well as potentially using tools in post to tune/balance/alter it. I know Science Saru the studio behind this regularly has really detailed audio/vocal work like the super small detail in Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken when the councilor is talking to them about making the club and he is patting his mouth with the papers he was working on and they actually had the person doing the VA do exactly that in recording so it times with the slight muffle of his voice when the paper is over his mouth as well as getting the paper sound perfectly fitted to the lines since it was literally in the raw recording. Okarun's transformed voice definitely sounds altered but I'm really curious what they did for that sound, because like I mentioned before Science Saru regularly goes the extra mile for audio typically via practical application rather than defaulting to digital though they have had some really good digital work done before like with all sorts of audio in Devilman Crybaby. Would be cool to hear from them what they did.

At what point is the compositing an issue or are you saying it's for this episode in general? After a quick scan through the episode the only scene I'm noticing where it might be too bright leading to blur is the outdoor scene of Okarun working out and maybe portions of the shot of him blushing over Aira. If it's about the alien and mantis shrimp boxer color shift portion I could definitely see that but that color choice and brightness came off as very intentional considering how they animated the break and smear of the sway and approach by the mantis shrimp and how it blended into the color scheme especially on the walls which imo isn't a result of poor compositing work because its furthering the effect of how hard it is to follow his movements without becoming anywhere near unreadable (plus its heavily reminiscent of scenes like Araragi vs. Rainy Devil in Bakemonogatari which I'm 100% certain in that case at least it was completely intentional since it perfectly fits how it's described in the novels). If that is what you're talking about I don't think I'd call that bad compositing work since it further sells how hard the movements are to track. Though I will say watching that whole segment again specifically the close up cut of his gloves while he sways is definitely blurrier than it probably should be especially because he isn't moving quickly yet. It definitely leads to a degree of blending with the color fill as well as the aliens psychokinesis having substantial blur to it on top of for lack of a better description kaleidoscope-ish effect, both of which were also used during the abduction in EP.1 but that's all clearly the intent.

Like other people are saying the whole beam shot sequence in how they animated it is a reference to Shin Godzilla a live action Godzilla film by Hideaki Anno the man behind Evangelion. I can't remember which people specifically but a few people on the staff for this show have worked with him before on different things so it's pretty cool they did an ohmage to one of his works even if it wasn't an animated one they could have worked on with him. Hideaki Anno is also just an absolute industry legend who even goes as far back as working with Hayao Miyazaki on Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, which landed him industry fame due to his animation of the Warrior God weapon scene (which funny but not funny despite effectively launching him into industry stardom he considers that animation a failure on his part because he didn't get to animate one specific section as he wanted due to Miyazaki coming in and saying not to use time with the extra in-between frames he wanted to put in to emphasize how the body is melting. It's kinda sad to that he considers what started his stardom to be a failure in his eyes and yet everyone is telling him its perfect as is, basically saying they wouldn't have even noticed if he had done it as intended which is pretty sad he has to hear that over something he considers a failure).
