It set up the various villains- what they want to achieve and why we want them to lose because of what they did in the city. The arc also sets up the good guys in who is available and unavailable because of the villains' actions. We get introduced to the new characters and reintroduced to characters we haven't seen much with what they can do, what they're like. The good guys are also then matched them up with their respective villain which aligns with what they want to do and the scores they have to settle. It really is all just the setup part of the arc.

Emilia made them believe in something more than what they had. that was emilia's purpose for saying what she did.

Whereas u had introduction of characters, backstories, subaru trying different routes with his authority, right now the whole cast has been put in a dangerous situation that went from 0 to 11 real quick. Given the situation they are in, they lack intel (aside from what the authorities from the archbishops can do except regulus), so the approach is different and Subaru has not reset past the Wrath moment at the start.

That's why few episodes ago it showed like an inner battle between the dragon and the dogs. That was a representation of the curses fighting inside Subaru right now.

Reinhard is apparently so broken that he can just get new powers out of nowhere when he needs them, and pretty much everyone sees him as the hero who can do anything. And Subaru just casually tells him "Don't worry, bro. If you can't do something, I've got you covered." And the best part is, Reinhard knows that if anyone could actually pull something like that off, it's Subaru, so he's just like, "Alright, bet."

Roswaal may have that mark on his body that prevents him from acting against their group now. But he could've had contingency plans set up in advance on the rare chance that he failed. He put all of their lives in danger. And in some of the failed loops actually succeeded in taking some of those lives. We have a bunch of planning and then see the wedding between Emilia and Regulus. Regulus is very interesting as a villain because he constantly contradicts himself. He says that Emilia and Capella are shallow for their ways of thinking but when he first met Emilia he said that he wanted to marry her because of her face. He says all of these things to make himself seem better or claims he's being generous to Emilia. But he becomes upset if he isn't correct in the end. Which is actually very similar to what Subaru used to do. He became infatuated with Emilia because a pretty girl saved him and then spent most of S1 making decisions that he claimed were for her but were really just to satisfy his own ego. Regulus is like a much more dark and twisted version of how Subaru used to be. So it's very fitting that he's Subaru's Antagonist for this season.

Really weird choice for them to just have her stand there and accept it instead.
