Like, he really was this insurmountable problem, that Ichigo somehow mostly dealt with (and even then, only sort of). Every time he shows up, he clearly demonstrates that he's still in control of the situation and leagues above other soul reapers.

Absolute darkness is, perhaps one of the most scary things in human existence. There's a reason people go crazy in sensory deprivation chambers. Being "untethered" to your senses is the closest one can get to "the abyss". And since Aizen's power relies heavily on influencing the senses of others - it's the perfect jail for him - in theory. Despite all of that, he could still talk to Yhwach , sense the situation above ground, and once he got free of the physical restrictions, move his body freely to talk and walk after years of absolute darkness. The more you think about it, the more you realize just how crazy it is.

We saw this earlier as well when Ichibe visted Ywach to come to an agreement and Ywach tried killin him with Almighty but Ichibe countered him with the left arm of the soul king. However Ywach manged to take the Left arm and it eventually became a qunicy, the one that looks like a black hole(Pernida Parnkgjas).

He's incapable of using his Shikai. However ( this happens in the Manga in a fight I won't spoil ) if you're good enough, you can give shape to your reiatsu and make an astro projected hologram of yourself which I assume he did the second his mouth was freed then immediately replaced the hologram with himself? Honestly that scene confused me. I mean being near Aizen warps space and time..

His mouth being undone is enough to let him use his Shikai to do that. Not sure how canon that is but it makes sense to me (especially since he was able to use it to a lesser extent vs. Ywhach earlier).

The soul king is immune to this, he’s also resistant to Yhwach's ability to see every possible future This is why he is unaffectes by orihime attempting to erase the events from ever happening and is invisible to Yhwach

Technically, Ichigo is of the same if not more capable of doing that aswell. But if he were to raise his spiritual pressure more, noone around him would be able to stand it, and so he is supressing it alot. Alot of ppl missing this detail because it wasnt vizualized in the manga in any shape of form but by subtle hints of how ichigo takes action in any battle. The only glint i can remember from the anime is from cour 2, when he blasted the bambies away slightly with his spiritual pressure when he gone to help kenpachi.

Battles to protect lives, and Battles to protect honor” - Kaien to Rukia in Ep 160. Yet another episode that was foreshadowed and called back to. About half of this one being an anime original flashback did complete justice to Ukitake revealing why he was always sick and therefore on the sidelines awaiting his true purpose here now more than ever. Mimihagi is a sentient entity that was once the right hand of the Soul King in Bleach, and it governs stagnation and stillness. It has the ability to halt the progression of anything and can heal ailments by attaching itself to those who request its aid. Orihime not being able to heal the Soul King and Yhwach not being able to see Mimihagi shows that the Soul King is beyond Concepts, Space and Time. Even reversing the events couldn't fix his body and Yhwach couldn't use his Almighty against him One last thing “We’ll see each other soon” - Ukitake to Unohana, remember that line. Iykyk Bleach ain’t going nowhere as it’s here to stay.
