2024-10-08 01:46:36 +0000 UTCmy perspective: ok so jane teamed up with yuri and they were fucking up nanno's plans so nanno had to pull out all the stops to make sure SHE wins, hence her doing the life swap. as for her not healing: if you pay attention you can tell there were moments in certain episodes (like 8 of season 1) where she would experience true human emotion. like the dude asked her to make a promise and she just stared at him cause she knows if she makes the promises she would hurt him when she breaks it later cause it goes against her plans. so instead of making the promise, she kisses him out of no where, as a way to say thanks for the fun times but also "oh you poor sweet summer child". so because she is starting to feel HUMAN emotion, she is slowly turning human aka MORTAL. her slow build to having compassion is going to make her a real girl which shows that even though what she did was way harsh tai, nanno HAD to do it because its her job/she cant lose, she just now feels bad about it.

2024-10-08 01:45:57 +0000 UTCJane wasn’t blameless lol she lied about Nanno trying to sexually assault her and was willing to kill and frame her just to get back to the life she was so quick to throw away. All she had to do was talk to her parents but wanted to go to the extreme of faking her death and putting her parents through that grief. I think Nanno was going to try and show Jane how they actually felt about her and how a world where she didn’t have her family, like she wanted, actually looked like so she would appreciate the life she had more. Instead Jane chose to go down Yuri’s path and ended up getting punished.

2024-09-30 19:30:46 +0000 UTCMy thoughts when originally watching it all the way up until now was that Jane is a pathological liar and lied about EVERYTHING, including her parents mistreating her (which, while kinda extreme and helicopter parent-y, was all genuinely because Jane asked for those things or needed them in the case of the food allergy situation). Nanno wanted to test her because of that, but ended up escalating in a very undeserved and overdramatic way because of Yuri’s presence and influence. In a way this episode is less of a character study on Jane and more of one on Nanno and her flaws. It’s natural to be confused because the point is that it doesn’t follow Nanno’s typical MO — and not even in a satisfying way like the TK episode.

That’s why the cut didn’t go away because her powers are weakening because she’s not doing what she’s suppose to. It’s called a turning point episode.
