Horimiya Ep 6

Justice for my mans hair

Comments

in manga history too

Itami

still hurts me to this day that he cut his hair

Itami

The most controversial thing that’s happened in recent anime history😭

General Grevious

We with you Roshi, bring his long hair back 😔

catfootprints

thats how it always should be...you shouldnt date without commitment ....the perfect mentality is to date someone you want to marry....I hate the western culture of "fk around and date"

Rishad GB

man that candy reaction was good from you guys lmao

Rishad GB

I don't think he did it for himself. I think he did it for Hori, because she was being laughed at because of him.

zer0clue

spicy end credit scene next episode 👀

akikonyan

Bathing and dating culture are very different in Japan XD. In Japan if you are dating someone they expect you to be with them forever like ya'll are practically married. Now in today I wouldn't say it the same but for the time the anime and manga were created that was the vibe. Bathing culture there is just they treat an at-home bathtub like a sauna

Zoe

youre toast buddy

Gary

"What kind of moves do you want me to make?" -- The ones like Jagger. Stfu, Roshi xDD Lmao. But yeah, everyone's always reacting like this to Miyamura's haircut, rightfully so. Justice for his hair! Revolt!

The Zany Spirit

Oh yea I don't think it's on the same level. But it's still a good anime with some nice little twists, subtle romance and similar themes but adds supernatural aspects too.

Rene

Hmm i thought it seemed interesting but its definitely not close to how good apothecary diaries was.

Zach

Shouldve gotten the eren pony tail

Zach

Did his dad do his neighbor lmao

Random Guy

If I remember correctly, the "make a move" scene was actually BEFORE the candy scene in the manga... so it makes more sense.

Ledish

I know, its amazing isnt it?

Gary

This show is great but ur lie in april is goated:(

Zach

Now miyamura just looks like your basic isekai protagonist

Fizzy

Roshi was like the Godfather: "Look how they massacred my boy".

Brandon Acevedo

I hope they react to Raven Of The Inner Palace one day. It's has a similar feel to apothecary diaries. It's a little darker in nature sometimes though. I really love the ending theme song. Also Lookism is a really good series too.

Rene

LMAOO Alya done traumatized yall 🤣🤣

envy

Miyamura does look cute with the haircut. Even more attractive actually, but... i also hate change 😭😭

envy

same

Travis James

Btw I’ve done what Miyamura did to hori, u just scoop it out the other persons mouth with your tongue not suck it 😂, i fell in love with this anime because some of the thing that happens in this show has happened to me irl, so to me this anime felt so much more realistic than all of the other romcoms im glad my vote for this anime went thru also like most people have spammed check the after credits of next episode it’s a bit wild

Wild

17:46 roshi getting clapped up left and right by this episode lol

Travis James

this ep reminds me of when roshi cut his locs lmao

Wrëck

I didn't get that at all lol He just seems like a free-spirited guy who would choose to chase his passions over financial stability. So I assumed it was a career that required him to be away for long periods of time (travel photography?) but still not make enough money to completely take care of his family which is why his wife has to work. That combination alone is a good reason why Hori would be resentful.

ViralCorgi

I'm definitely on the "I HATE his haircut" side. I agree, he just looks like a basic pretty boy now. His old look was unique and what got me to read the manga in the first place.

ViralCorgi

Almost right Yoshi. She's intentionally made to look like the Love-Child between Miyamura and Hori. She has his color scheme and Hori's eye-shape and expressions (and hair length). You can kind of see how similar she looks to Hori around 18:55. But yes, it does help to drive home the sibling dynamic between her and Miyamura. She sees her brother in him, and he sees a child-like Hori in her.

ViralCorgi

miyamura with the cut remind me of Roshi when he had shorter hair........tough times

Jean-Marc

Certainly the most unique Shojo romcom ever.

Roger Powell

Ore monogatari / My Love Story = one the best rom com, you two will love it

Lola

The next few eps will have end credits make sure you watch them

AnimeTiddiesKindaNice

Getting so close to my fav episode

Huemon Nottabear

idk bro is hot either way ngl . No diddy

Kurumi

100% agree his hair was way better long.

Bloodcrusnik

Sawada best girl

AlmaWade 1979

Is this how people reacted when Roshi cut his dreads

nicholazsyx

But they don't know...so we shouldn't imply and just let them find out.

MJAnime

Well you thought wrong

Dyastro

There's end credit next episode

Ash

it just cause all the characters have pink / red /purple and green hair, someone having the same hair colour as the MC is weird when everyones hair is usually so different

bark

It's funny because they caught on pretty fast in Alya. I guess it's a case of anime brain. Normal logic goes out the window when you're thinking all in tropes.

Sekraan

Hoping for your lie in April someday 🙏🏻

TChang23

The fact this thread exists with more than a few replies shows at least I wasn’t the only one thinking on this part

Anon7524

After episode 7 the intro changes same song different Visuals and its worthwatching also u must watch the end credit scene for ep 7

tyla_xoxo

I don't remember what he actually does but the implications around "job" is waay more that whatever he does the mom doesn't think of as a real job before it ever implies he's having an affair

J-or-Dan

With the bit of information I found out about her parent in the Horimiya Reddit page, that implication actually isn’t the case. But even before that, I never got the implication that her dad had an affair when I first watched it at all.

Earphone Jack

Roshi saying Miyamura taking the candy from Hori’s mouth was aggressive and that she didn’t consider it him making a move because of that. She most definitely considered it to be a move and you’ll find out why in an episode or two. IYKYK. 😂😂😂

Earphone Jack

The haircut fits for the typical main character love interest in anime. He can only look so unique compared to his love interest with his pretty fade and eyelashes so it wasn't a surprise to see a haircut...this is what happens when you start reading mangas in high-school like ouran host club and learn this stereotypes dear god its scary.

Metweet .c

I'm not fucking with the haircut either, but I respect the need for a summer cut. I would say they did Miyamura dirty making him look like everybody else, but the manga is from 2007ish, so everybody actually looks like him. End credit scene next episode.

AnnaSama

that cut is not it

Ketsu

Miyamura dad has a lot to explain 🤣

Tati Murdock

slurping candy out my mouth is diabolical work

Butthead faxe

I saw it, but I still felt what I said was implied despite second season and the differences between my culture & Japanese culture. I haven't read the manga though

Anon7524

they better timeskip to him having long hair again or ima throw a fit

Butthead faxe

Roshi really had a broken heart from Miyamura cutting his hair

CentipedeKid

Not true at all

Metweet .c

Have you seen "Horimiya:pieces" it's a second season that covers some cut content. The dad usually works a lot but he loves his family just the same

wavyesper

Really? That’s what I thought too, with the mom asking how the “job” would feel with him being away so long. In the subtitles, the word job was in italics. I’ve only watch the anime, so I don’t know if there’s some other stuff that gives it context.

Baconandgrits

A lot of slice of life anime/manga do the same thing with characters much younger or slightly younger than the main romantic pairing. Even though there's a lot of people that have the same eye and hair color, sometimes they'll make the character look like a mix between the two to make it seem like "this is what their future child WOULD look like"

Alspei

Personally I don’t mind the haircut, I just don’t like why he got it. He pretty much folded to everybody. Also roshi got some Alya ptsd with all this sibling shi😭😂😂

cyrus gudino

It's hilarious seeing them get confused over characters with black hair and dark eyes like it's not just a common characteristic over there lmao. They definitely know that having been there. But the disconnect not being able to apply that same standard to anime is just too funny

kale k

Aiya brain-poisoned the both of you.

Maleny

That's not the case at all though😑

wavyesper

miyamura cutting his hair was the most devastating thing to happen in this show LMAO

gr2ves

diabolical candy flavors

Reckless Company

Love the subtle implication that the dad is having an open affair/another family, which is why the mom is concerned about his *job* being ok with everything and the disdain from the fam

Anon7524

Next episode 🔥, don't skip the after credits scene as a final reminder

Anon7524

The answer for next week is yes

Omar Bautista

You don't know how upset I was that he got the low cut, it doesn't look bad but he looked more epic with his hair tied up
