It's impossible to think of anything else that's sad and similar that won't trigger your PTSD. That's literally what PTSD does, imagine it like a fish hook and you're trying to hook a small fish but that also baits the bigger fish into eating it which then you have to reel in the bigger fish as well. I think this episode was supposed to highlight some of the insanity that star-level performers have. Ai, Aqua, Ruby, Kana, and Akane, everyone that the audience has seen with stars in their eyes (Kana and Akane usually has galaxies in their eyes) are all at least slightly crazy, and that hint of madness elevates their performances. You hear about the best artists being somewhat crazy, after all.
