The Bear 3x7

Syd deserves better

Comments

Tina meant overall as an I’m old, I’m a mother and I’ve been doing this for twice as long as you’ve been alive.

Squaler

adrianne lenker??? the soundtrack for this show stays goated

aj

Why aren't yall saying the same thing about Carmy? He is the literal problem. He literally won't communicate the changes he makes. I think you're confusing communicating with confronting because she definitely needed to do that with Carmy. I think she's not bringing her shit into this because there's already enough shit going on and she's hesitating about how to proceed, what choice to make.

Sou saetern

She said she would like to eventually get a star. They have to work their way up to it. They literally just opened, she's not expecting to get it immediately. What they are doing now is not star shit because they never got the consistency of just regular shit because they can't operate on Carmys level yet. And let's be real, Carmy don't care about the star, he just overreacting to what happened because he can't/won't deal with his trauma. Instead, he Falla back into his bad habits and makes everyone else deal with it.

Sou saetern

Why aren't you saying that about Carmy?

Sou saetern

Based off the words you choose, I just think you're kinda mysogenistic 😅

Dann Robb

I think yall are hating on her too hard. She is justified in some of her actions, she isn’t this god awful character yall are making her out to be.

Coco Butter

fair, but imma need her ability to take accountability to level up alongside her ability to formulate apologies

Xavier Baker

yh but going alone while pregnant is still not a good idea, especially that far along

Xavier Baker

I'll always be grateful to her ,but aint got no accountability and her ability to apologize is trash

Xavier Baker

all im saying is that she needs accountability and needs to reform her ability to apologize and if you think she has nothing to apologize for then thats just glazing

Xavier Baker

yh but she needs to release the personal stuff too, like her being the Mom for her Dad essentially until he feel like he needs to insert himself in her decisions

Xavier Baker

thats wild seeing she's never once justified and is just this Goddess above it all

Xavier Baker

that and she dont apologize for nothing,I wanna see a apology outta that mouth before i start glazing again

Xavier Baker

but the problem is ,Syd is always this perfect individual to everyone and she dont EVER apologize ,thats my only problem with her character

Xavier Baker

factssssssssss

Xavier Baker

Everyone in this comment section should watch Cobra Kai.. cause when characters do trash ass shit they apologize. Even if it's seasons later... Not Syd tho.. she's perfect in every way shape and form

andrew ayala

Wouldn't wish SYD on anyone... as her partner everything that ever goes wrong in the relationship is gonna be your fault. And syd is Perfect and doesn't do anything bad. And is allergic to apologize

Amity☆Blight

Sydney is like DSP... She did nothing wrong..

Amity☆Blight

THANK YOU... She was the one who said "Were Gonna Get A Star" Then a Season Later she's like "O I dont like the work it takes to get a star" I can see why your catering Business Failed.. shes a snake FR

Amity☆Blight

be realistic, if this boat sinks (which she went bankrupt b4 w her business) she will have to start from scratch elsewhere and she won't get an offer like Shapiro's again. Irl if you were in her shoes it'd be normal to take the better offer, that doesn't make her a bad person. Carmy also has shown he doesn't care abt her input and hasn't really had her back ever, he's left her high and dry in multiple occasions. The only thing he's given her is a job that his uncle pays for lol.

AB

Also... his real name is Adam Shapiro. He's primarily an actor in real life, but he did launch a pretzel business with his wife during the pandemic when there was no work for actors.

DTGstl314

If you’re being funny nvm but the saying is “nip it in the BUD” bro😭

DsWorldd •

Half of not damn near all her stress is career related wym?

DsWorldd •

The Faks are honestly the best characters lmao

GigaDirt

That scene with Sweeps was really dope, great acting. Also Ayo is adorable, I was lmao at the scene with her and the boxes lol My diagnosis of the situation is that Carmy is a really good guy but he's pretty self-absorbed and forgets to trust others, but when he's called out on his shit (unless it's by Richie) he's always pretty quick to apologize and try to course correct - we've seen it throughout the show. He's also very gifted which is sometimes a curse when it comes to connecting well with others because you can tend to think or expect that everyone knows what you know or thinks how you think, and especially in business, you should sooner choose to risk over-explaining something than incorrectly assuming something is already understood. Then there's Syd has a history of being inconsistently or ineffectively communicative, and impatient (writers said it, not just me). They need to find a way to get through their communication issues and talk it all out or just go their separate ways.

A. P.

Stabbing Richie in the ass was definitely the opportune time for her to do that

LUC_Rambler

It's crazy that most (not all) viewers are able to empathise with Carmy and his mental health struggles but so many have not an ounce of compassion for Sydney. She's not the main character, but we're seeing all the pressures build up on her, and we should be somewhat aware of what her character is. She's been shown to be avoidant when it comes to stressful situations, why is anyone shocked that her response to the stress and dysfunction of the Bear is by avoiding a big blow up argument, or avoiding the partnership agreement. I'm not going to touch the argument that she's "entitled" or "fucking everything up", i.e. making mistakes occasionally like everyone else. BTW, I think they mention earlier in the season that the salary offer is 70k USD vs 80k at the new place. I always thought a CDC at a top restaurant would make more tbh.

A

Sydney needs to talk about her issues. Jesus. It's so annoying.

Lurkingposter

That is such a dumb take. Syd literally always holds down the forth, always diffuses situations and tries to calm people down. In season 1 she was an important part of why Tina wanted to do better as a chef and yeah sure everyone brings up her screw up in season 1 but so what how many times has everyone else especially carmy/Richard screwed up but they all get a pass and a sympathy of its trauma. In season 2 when carmy was MIA and skipping around with Claire, Sydney was fully focused on the restaurant and working on everything related to it, she always wanted to talk about menu and plates and it's odd to say she is entitled when carmy clearly said in season 2 he couldn't do it without her and he wouldn't even want to and even in season 3 carmy admitted that he left her alone and was unfocused and that she made it. The person that needs to get their shit together this season is carmen cause his personal issues that he is bringing into the kitchen is the main reason why everyone is stressed out and the kitchen is freaking dysfunctional and why syd hasn't even looked at the partnership agreement cause of how much anxiety and panic.

Lola_❤️❤️

Everything sucks these days

Danger Tomato

This season has been a real let down tbh, disappointing after 2 great seasons.

VoyagerSpaceProbe

man this season had nothing to offer so far. I mean the acting and directing is phenomenal but the plot is just crawling nowhere

zILovePelmeni _

There's a restaurant depot right by my house lol never thought about there being more

GormleyPeach

I’m not gonna say Syd is worst character. She does her job so well in the acting that she stresses me the fuck out when she’s stressing the fuck out but I feel like obviously within the realms of the show they’re probably not going to make her go to another place and the plots probably gonna magically make Carmy fix his shit in that department so that she can resolve stuff peacefully. It would genuinely shocked me if she went to the other place and considering season one she always wanted to be in control and doing her own thing that would be the huge step for her. She can still be friends with everybody that doesn’t have to go away, but moving there would be great for her but obviously she’s a fictional character and that’s not great for the plot unless we cut to her consistently and what she’s doing and maybe she’ll come back after Carmy his fix this shit but we’ll see.

Jay Voorhees

Uncle Gary’s monologue is so goated 😂😂😂😤😂🔥🙏🏿 niggah just spoke from the pov the 5 dimension and fucked off like G

Louis

After the finale season of beef they definitely announcing a Fak TV show

Davon Thomas

She meant the literal kitchen lol like at her house, not as a professional. Not a retcon.

Z

Everyone has the point where they kinda give up on trying after being shot down so much.

Twin Hallow

Well the partnership stuff is about work

Twin Hallow

If you're asking what Syd has done for Carmy/the restaurant, I can't take you seriously.

A

Shapiro is the guy who yelled, "Fuck you, Garrett!" in "Forks" (Richie redemption episode).

DTGstl314

Tina had been at The Beef for four years when the show started - she lost her job in 2018 (you can see a clock with the date on it in the background of the room where she was laid off) and got hired at The Beef a few weeks later, Mikey died in February 2022, and the show's first episode - when Sydney starts working there - is set in June 2022 (they mention Mikey's death being four months earlier at some point, and there's a memorial card in the office showing Mikey's date of death as sometime in February 2022). I think because the pandemic has been mentioned several times on the show people think a lot of it is taking place during COVID, but it isn't - the present at the start of the third season is June 2023, and nearly all of the flashbacks take place before 2020 (ie before COVID). Not sure what Carmy was doing for that year, but nearly all of those Michelin-starred restaurants in NYC were closed for many months and some even more than a year (some never came back).

DTGstl314

@Yoxxhio lol I am still mad that they made carmy apologise for that bullshit

Fizzy

But that is not all Carmy is doing, he's not just getting them to Michellin star status, he is creating problems or not solving existing ones like the food/money waste of a daily menu, his continued bad relationship with Richie, his lack of communication on whether or not the menu is locked, and his unilateral decisions like the entire list of non-negotiables and him just ordering Syd with the entire menu this episode. So while what he wants and the ultimate goals that they need to have are good on paper, in reality Carmy cannot handle the stress of ownership with the bills and continued bad behavior like communication and beef with Richie. Syd is not getting her end of the bargain, and she is potentially looking at a sinking ship that she has a chance to get off with a huge opportunity as a CDC. She should probably take it, if we're talking about her as a real person and not just a character. I would say she has been stepping it up and it is the simple fact that the staff/restaurant are not ready for this level of service quite yet + Carmy has many issues with being a manager of everyone and the finance side, and continued anger issues that aren't just outbursts but disruptful to the work.

John Cedar

The way they set it UP in season 2, me too lol

Shanice Brunson

@grimm people in the comments will disagree with u, but you're right. She gets a pass on everything and is put on this pedal stool for some reason. she should just tell him how she feels outright and that she will leave. people were even defending her back in season 1 when she left the online orders on and fucked everything up. she never apologized for that either carmy apologized for some random reason

Yoxxhio

That's my thought on it, maybe she's at a point where she's done getting her opinion shot down and is just going with the flow for the time being until she sees a better opportunity for growth in regards to her being heard

Devin B

Everyone seems to forget that syd is the one that wanted a Michelin star so badly & this is most likely what it takes to get one, carmy is already a world renowned chef he doesn’t need a star. Plus offering her an actual ownership stake in the restaurant is beyond generous it should be worth some of the stress & should encourage her to actually step it up at least 5 gears but she won’t even sign the agreement

Fred_D3

Yeah im confused with how they're writing her this season. She went from challenging carmy on his ideas and when he'd "take over", but in S3, she's just ultra passive now. Unless we're supposed to believe she's just fed up with it in general?

Noah

I don’t even think Carmy does the shit he does on purpose, he just can’t get out of his own head and it makes him feel the need to control everything to get his mind in order

Adrian Neal

I love how happy Sheera was during the scene with Nat and Tina🥹🥹🥹

Onyekachi Nkenke

Damn the faks make talking about anything so easy

Reckless Company

Yo that short scene with Gary and fak was so fucking amazing it’s just sucks you in great acting from both

Kidhavac

Durarara day 31

Monotone Type-F

Watch how carmy might just find out syd is considering an outside offer nd thats how an argument gon start about her "plotting" behind his back, im ready lol

sotonye ogan

I have never sensed a whiff of romantic feeling between them this whole series idk what u on about lmao

sotonye ogan

@Dann Robb you know what more of being a little bitch? its not talking to the person that helped you out and basically jumping ship to another ship which you wouldn't of have if it wasn't for that person. It's called loyalty

Grimm

Lots of Syd hate in these comments 🙄 totally unjustified imo.

Dann Robb

Why does she need to talk about things not related to work, she communicates great on the line.

Dann Robb

Nahhh, Carm is acting like a little bitch. Syd keeps the place running and holds the entire line together every night.

Dann Robb

Sydney doesn’t communicate well at all. With ANYBODY, she can’t talk about the issue with Marcus, her dad, especially Carmy. But she can motivate really well when it matters.

Zion Noland

am I the only one that thinks Syd is entitled. Like Carmy gave her a job in a place his dead brother left him and got money from his uncle to make it better. Like what has she really done for him? Besides leaving him alone that one episode when she made the mess

Grimm

If Syd wants to be treated like a partner then she needs to do two things. The first thing is to actually talk to Carmy like an equal and express her opinions consistently. There are times she gives her opinion and Carmy listens but other times when her opinion gets shut down she immediately defers to him. The second thing is to actually read what the partner agreement is to see what it actually entails so she can actually compare the two offers.

Devin B

No one cares about Clair at all though

Imari

prepare for pure stress next episode 😭

melloburner

I don't see Carmy as Syd's Chef Winger I just never saw them having a romantic relationship since the beginning. I only saw a strong friendship, plus the power Dynamic that they already have in kitchen was not gonna translate well into an actual relationship. Carmy is mainly a boss, teacher then friend to Syd. Plus Syd is a female chef in a male dominated industry, the last thing she needs is to be known as Carmys girl and cloud her own recognition.

Metweet .c

That's not realistic. You cannot constantly be by someone's side and expect your water to break at the most convenient time. For most women it happens alone while doing everyday shit like lifting stuff, cleaning etc. Plus for sugar the gentlemanly thing was for them to leave her alone, I wouldn't want the faks near me for any longer than a minute like she's demonstrated.

Metweet .c

SHIEEEELLLDDD HEEERRROOO SEASON 3

The Truth

The flashback took place around 2018 it shows in the one of the calendars in a montage

_ luniticacaracy _

Sheera is right. You got the main backer of the restaurant financing everything thinking that aside from the income things are progressing and now even Sugar asked her to sign the agreement. At this point I think Syd should take that offer and test new waters and a different environment let her see how a kitchen under her command only would go. Carmy is in auto-pilot michelin chef mode cause he knows what it takes to get there so I understand let him cook but that ain’t fair to Syd at times cause now he’s headed to a point where he won’t be taking input from nobody

Kevinsog24

Yeah Claire is the main love interest from the looks of it

sotonye ogan

I need Syd to read the damn agreement so I can know what it says😂. Cause none of us actually knows what the agreement is

Ricky Pereira

That conversation in the wine cellar was the most realistic one I’ve ever heard in a show

xProKnockz

I wasn't the biggest Sydney fan after the first season. At this point she's earned her place and Carmy continues to take her for granted. I'm sure he'll eventually Self-destruct and it'll all fall on her again because Carmy makes things harder for himself. She'll probably be the future of the industry. So him loosing her is an unforgivable fumbling of the ball.

Jamaal Ellison

Get your money SYD 💯

Frederick

Look how that worked out for her. Someone else should've gone for her, I'm sure they knew she'd be lifting shit at this stage of pregnancy just be a gentleman and help her out. If sugar needed a break to catch some air and collect herself I wish she would've been given that.

Jamaal Ellison

I will say I’m surprised at the amount of people who say Carmy is Syd’s Chef Winger. Carmy clearly cares for Syd and wants the best for her. He just doesn’t realize his actions are pushing her away. And no, I don’t ship them, but the backlash is so bad this season I’ve almost become a Carmy defender. I want the two to work things out.

Robert

Couldn’t forgive Carmy? I mean, he’s very flawed, but unforgivable is wild.

Champion Bescos

That scene with fak and sweeps was great

User100

They're on their House of The Dragon shit this season.

Jamaal Ellison

If syd leaves I wouldn't blame her and I couldn't forgive Carmy

Jamaal Ellison

Yeah she needa communicate

JotaroDrake

This season almost felt like a direct response to the people who were shipping Carmy and Syd because they had such amazing chemistry last season. Like the writers and showrunner came in and said “Yea let’s nip that shit in the butt this season” lol

Nick Vaughn

💀 I just don't wish carmy on anyone to have as a boyfriend

Metweet .c

I don't blame sugar for wanting to go out by herself. Yes she's pregnant but you're supposed to be moving about and she was holding napkins so it wasn't that deep. Plus the people that wanted to come would have probably pissed her off since everyone likes to treat pregnant women like fragile dolls which is hella annoying. Also you can't control when your water breaks because she could have been alone at any point for her labour to start.

Metweet .c

Bruh ik but I still have faith just let me live in delulu land

Mikaylin

You need to let that die already lol. The writers and the actors do not have any sort of romanticrelationship in mind for these two

Metweet .c

Yehhhhhhhhhhhhh

Hasnain Khan

My personal thoughts on this is she has already started the process of starting over at the bear so why go somewhere else and start over again? Also at least wait till after the review has been given lmao cant wait for season 4. Glad they filmed back to back

kingBD

Proof that this show is about Carmy falling in love with Syd with Syd falling out of love with Carmy🥲🤧

Mikaylin

I do genuinely think she should accept
