Oshi No Ko 2x3

compromise needs to happen

Ya that's a wiiiiiild ass take. Both were good in their own ways, and bad in their own ways, but that story. shiiiii

MuteSpittah

(long story short, the manga/anime industry is an EXTREMELY challenging road to walk on.)

Trash? Shiddd

Luhbabytay

Pause

General Grevious

I think about it like this, the full metal alchemist adaptation was trash but it doesn’t make me think any less of the source material

General Grevious

Whaaaat? The art in Black Clover (manga) is really good? Man, I stopped reading that because I got tired of staring at panels for a minute or two trying to figure out what the hell was going on in the big fight scenes (too much of a garbled mess), and the artwork outside of the fights I remember being cleaner but pretty basic.

wiski

Side note to the joke about Black Clover TS 19:00ish: Isn't it weird how a lot of anime with well drawn Manga have cheap animation, MEANWHILE(!) anime with trash art, like Demon Slayer, are BOOSTED with the animation they are given more times than not? It's the ultimate Salesmen technique, I'll tell ya hwut.

HIM

Bro when the anime doesn't jingle keys with fight scenes every three minutes:

Oh, That's Wild

I literally just thinking that this episode makes me want to rewatch Bakuman. It was so good!

lil_riko

Not sure you understand what info dumping actually is if that’s what you consider this..

Champion Bescos

Man, I think you guys would really enjoy Bakuman. Although it's a 3 season/25ep series, so there's quite a few episodes. The original manga is written by the same mangaka as Death Note, so the art style is similar.

Alexander Szabo

That'd be slime actually

Ougi

This show never fails to hit me in my feels 😭

Arturo

If Information Dumping was an anime lol.

sotonye ogan

Yeah the direction of the manga currently feels like it took a sharp turn to please a certain crowd of fans imo

Jean-Marc Mwandulo

Sad thing is an author did clap her self recently because of this near exact scenario

Daniel Turner

From what I remember I don't think any of the cast members switch roles

bleach

Nah we gotta' put some respect on Manga Editors, like Naruto's manga editor. Sasuke wouldn't even exist if it wasn't for bro suggesting for him to be added lmao (and that's just one of many things he's done, naruto would be COOKED without his input)

WillGlacier

Just came 2 hrs ago

Mr. K

Still can't believe that theater is an actual place lol

Mr. K

Gotcha, thanks 🫡

Izaiah

Yeah I think it is just because the first half it was pretty rough. Like there was a pretty hyped up fight around ep 50ish and the animation was not great at all. Absolutely improved just not a great start.

Adiuva

who?

Adiuva

Comments yesterday said audio desync. Roshi is likely working on that today.

Adiuva

No trigun stampede?

Izaiah

If you’re in America, I doubt you’ll be able to find one outside of California, and even that’s questionable. I have no idea if they’ve made it to the states yet.

Coatl45

The author putting the entertainment industry on blast is definitely great.

Coatl45

Yes cuz that's what I said. I was giving my opinion cuz I don't think this is an anime I must watch as it airs. Personally

No jokes about "Smash Heaven"? Very mature.

ok?

lyssa

The IHI Stage Around Tokyo does indeed exist irl and has the same functionality.

Gordon Lou

I'm hoping so too or Hitman Reborn

James Anowai

28:43 nah sheera she doesnt necessarily want it to be exactly like the manga. She said last episode that its okay to make some tweaks but her problem comes when GOA completeky changed her "babies" (the characters). Like how they made the princess less conflicted with war and more belligerent

Travis James

I 100% agree with roshi

Travis James

Ngl I dropped this after the 6th episode of season 1, read it and I'm positive I ain't missing out much. It's a good show. For my to watch someday list

Sum1s0mewhere

Yall should react to Naruto Unhinged

chtis23407

I love all the behind the scenes stuff about all these industries. It's my favorite thing about the anime.

Joel Braaten

I love how when every episode ends Lupa is like 'is that it?' cause it went by too fast, LMAO

You know the funniest thing about this whole arc, with Mangaka being overworked and having so much pressure that they get depressed and physically ill trying to meet weekly deadlines? It was basically Oshi no Ko's author saying "Fuck all that, I'm taking breaks when I feel like it and y'all can just deal" - and so he did lol. Oshi no Ko and Kaguya before it are weekly releases, but he takes 1-2 week breaks every few chapters or so. And I think the industry is slowly changing to allow for this, at least with proven successful authors. The most striking example is the author for Tokyo Ghoul - that series had a mediocre ending and the author gave an interview later that it got so bad he didn't wanna get out of bed or eat because of how much he dreaded having to draw all the time. His newest series is "monthly", but has no set schedule and releases "when he feels like it's done" on completely random days at random hours. And you can tell he's having a lot more fun with it this way, because the art is popping off every chapter.

Gilthwixt

brand new sentence right there

Clarence

Love the choker worn by akane. Like the black belt of blow job

Arima kana

Yeah I just came looking for it too but it’s gone, saw it earlier

Vincent S Deluca

Where'd Trigun ep 3 go? It disappeared.

Isaac

A slice of life anime that is way more intriguing than any of the shounen shows with flashy action out there right now... Can you believe this $hit?

Rin Okumura

timestamp, where did they say it?

Arkan Matlub

On the comment about things maybe changing in the industry, now a days you also see monthly or bi weekly manga become more popular. Part of it could be that there have been a lot of articles and documentaries and interviews with manga authors about the industry that made people realize how shit it was, so some of it might be due to backslash. But there are also more competitors. Before if you wanted anything published realistically you only had a handful of imprints you could submit too to get widder distribution. But these days there are a lot more small and medium size imprints that are able to get that same amount of reach by publishing online, plus social media makes it most cost effective to market to those markets. It's not like it was a complete 180 turn, but more like gradual change in the industry from different factors.

RF

This is giving me Bakuman nostalgia a bit

Cyric Sherburne

I highly recommend checking out Bakuman an amazing battle anime about creating manga written by the creator of Death Note.

Bloodcrusnik

This episode was so good, wow. I understand the praise for this arc for sure

Michelle

Sheera mixed the sweet today and and dating show up that aqua played in. Akane almost offed herself in the dating show, not sweet today. Sweet today was the debut Aqua had to get recruited for the dating show.

Y'all make my day during the bleak ass summer

Mangaka really out here firing kevin feige. This show is so good I keep getting mad whenever that ending music starts playing. Roshi what you were saying about editors making story decisions and interfering with mangakas is usually with ones who haven't been around long or aren't big names already. They have no record of making a high selling work so the editors sometimes get involved in the creative endeavor which can hurt the mangaka vision, but also in some cases help a lot (like with the Naruto editor suggesting a rival so Kishimoto came up with Sasuke). On the note of mangas ending quicker nowadays, Oshi no Ko started in 2020 and hasn't ended yet (in its final arc I think), and I think it's just a trend in media and entertainment in general that long-running media is dying in the traditional sense. The era of new mangas going on for 500 chapters doesn't happen too much anymore, just like how many new seasons of tv shows are only around 8-10 episodes. That being said, editors definitely still try to drag out financially successful series. Shounen jump is getting pretty baren with its big hitters ending (like MHA, JJK, and One Piece entering it's final arc), and it's pretty apparent that they're forcing the JJK manga to continue. Gege said it would end sometime in 2023 but then changed it to "around the end of 2024" and it's pretty obvious it's dragging badly. Also for reference and the heck of it, I looked up which manga series that BEGAN in the last 15 years (So from 2009) have sold over 50 million copies and it’s only: Demon Slayer, Attack on Titan, My Hero Academia, JJK, Tokyo Revengers, Haikyu, Seven Deadly Sins
which is crazy to put into perspective. I think they showed that Abiko is only 22 so her manga probably only started a few years prior, meaning her manga had some world record-breaking success which goes into what the other mangaka was saying about her being extremely talented.

King of New York

World trigger anime reaction one day 🙏

Lola

I think the case of editors messing up mangakas that Roshi mentioned happens when they're not that well known. If the mangaka doesn't have enough skin in the game then they don't have much of a choice but to go along with the publishing company's demands and the editor has to pass those demands onto the mangaka. Only when the mangaka is well known is when they have the privilege of calling some of the shots.

Devin B

black clover catching a stray from sheera we love to see it

twinuzis

not too much on black clover cuz the animation went stupid fr during the elf arc and and dark triad arc

Kk

Most mangaka draw digitally now so it is quicker and easier to rework things as apposed to physical work. The mangaka for Rent a Girlfriend does all of it digitally and his studio is the bottom of his house so he can spend time with his family and not work all the time. If you want to know more about how manga gets/got made physically check out Bakuman. That whole series is about making manga for Jump and it's made by the duo that did Death Note. It's super good and educational about the industry.

Richie Roberts

They're kinda hard to find, just search for theaters or playhouses with names like circle or around. Eventually you'll find one, or you'll find one were the stage rotates, not the same but culture yourself anyway.

Huemon Nottabear

With that Sheera was saying near the end of the episode about someone almost clapping their self, that was Akane from the reality show Aqua was in, not Sweet Today.

Liam Gilbert

Yehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Hasnain Khan

Frankly, Akane wanted Aqua to like theater play cus she herself is a very well endowed theater actress.

Guns

also the artist comic point of view is so real and good. i feel fuckin seen

Jazmyne Mattucci

Keep up the good work fam

BloodMoonGentleWind

they do one of major anime IPs for them Stage around plays. there was one of Haikyuu from what i remember. Sailor Moon is the most notable one tho to my knowledge

Jazmyne Mattucci

Japanese culture is really weird in that professional communication NEEDS to go through a lengthy telephone process. You're technically only allowed to speak to someone one degree of separation away from your job, otherwise it's seen as rude and overstepping. GOA and the mangaka exchanging numbers would technically step on a lot of toes and traditionally, they would face a lot of blowback in their respective careers.

Argo2Unitard

This gotta be an ad for these plays because its working😂. I want to go to one so bad

PJ Rivera

The stage around theatre exists irl, called the Ihi Stage Around Tokyo. As far as I know the show's stage is pretty much identical to the real one from a technical standpoint.
