I would say he had issues (personal problems) but I won't call him mentally ill. Sometimes we don't realise the value of something until we lose it. What happened with him just reminded me of a saying/quote from a movie that i just love: "Say you could snap your fingers and be wherever you wanted to be. I bet you would still feel this way, not in the right place. Point is, you can't get so hung up on where you'd rather be, that you forget how to make the most of where you are". 11:09 To be honest, not as much as Choji but Togame also did mistakes and contributed to the gang sinking like this, and that's with his own admission and recognition of them. Just like he said, he turned a blind eye and did not punch him that day. Yes he did the dirty work to keep the image of Choji's former self alive but... he did turn dirty himself. He still sunk with him instead of trying to pull him out. I don't have an example so I am just gonna say this. He was worried and scared for him so he took his hand as he walked into darkness rather than stopping him. It's not exactly the same but it's like supporting your friend's mistakes and reckless behaviours.
