They even screw up the basic stuff here, what's notable if you've been watching KDramas is this Disney sub is inconsistent with the curse words. I wonder if bootleg (dramacool? Kissasian? Or torrent?) is better? Usually fan subs get it correct

I totally agree with this. There are a handful of translations that aren't accurate in this show. They even mess up the translation of "Fighting" at points. Episode 7 I also remember having a bunch of bad translations in the Hulu/Disney sub

Based on my memory alone I’m pretty sure the subs they’re using for the picture in picture are not the same as the ones on Hulu/D+ and they might be watching something different than we’re seeing (although they might not be, if they’re still cutting out ad breaks?). That said, the Disney subs aren’t too bad — I watched this entire show along with a fluent Korean speaker and there wasn’t much he felt the need to correct or clarify!

Oh no I absolutely get that and I fully agree with points that get brought up later in the show, but I just try to be extra understanding because Mihyun is raising that kid alone, *while* trying to get him to keep his powers under wraps, *while* trying to make sure he becomes a good person. It’s a lot. 🥲 Both Bongseok and Mihyun have equally valid concerns.

I think the mom said not to use his powers because he doesn't know how to control them, like when there was the storm he could have literally blown off into the space I think. I mean it is also to have empathy for the kid but the bigger reason was because she was worried about him flying off without making it back to ground.

That little kid that tried to copy Bongseok and hurt himself really didn’t know any better. Like he doesn’t know Bongseok actually has powers, so he thought he could probably jump just as far as him or something. I think the point mom was trynna make was “don’t get cocky and start showing off in front of others, because you’re not like others.” I doubt little Bongseok realized it at his age, but it’s irresponsible for him to show off in front of these kids who could hurt themselves trynna do the same. And he did it because he was feeling inferior or jealous of the attention the other kid was receiving. Now of course, he’s just a kid so you can’t really blame him for his not-so-humble response to his feelings. So why did the mom go off on him about “real power is empathy…. i thought you would know this…”? Did she really expect him to know better? I think she was just frustrated with the situation he caused.

ya'll are on fire catching details today, and it's very much needed in this show, they leave little hints of things that will make sense in the future, literally since minute 1 of ep 1 lol, writing is really good, i'm so glad you're enjoying it so far! about the "use of power" dialogue that you mention roshi, the meaning behind her saying that to bongseok is definitely not only to have a cliché preachy moral dump like in other superheroe series, it actually helps you understand her character in the future, or at least that's what i think after rewatching it, so don't worry, that won't be a recurrent theme in the show haha

roshi makes a really good point at the end, but these abilities are very much government secrets, so it’s not really a one to one “it’s not my fault i was born special and you weren’t” sort of thing — they have to suppress this stuff for their own safety because very few other people know it even exists. also, mihyun was right — bongseok was a little kid who really didn’t care much for consequences outside of bragging rights, and he *did* show off afterwards.

No super strength isn’t like a default ability. Only certain people have it depending on what other power they have. The kid with glasses just have super strength like the guy that got thrown out the window. He didn’t have any other power but strength. And the electricity guy was strong from the force of his electric ability. This is a show where you kind of have to pay attention but also don’t overthink it either
