I assume the target to some extent has to be able to do that to some extent as per Laws of Physics, even if we also account stuff like theoretically possible stuff. So if a body doesn't have, say, a Quirk for self-detonation, I doubt the body would have any means of detonating itself physically speaking to begin with. Like she told the air to die within X range, which is something the air can do by simply disappearing from that spot on atomic level or w/e

Like people don't remember how some dudes WITHOUT Super Durability/Strength Quirks who got yeeted into straight up metal poles head/spine first (and by dudes w/ the former of the 2 Quirk types usually too, so their acceleration is already at abnormal levels when they hit those metal poles/concrete & steel walls or w/e spine/head first) didn't insta-disable/die from that, but just continue rushing at their enemy. So clearly baseline stats for humans have also passively increased as the Quirks have come over the gens of some 100 years or w/e that they have existed so far.

For targets w/ a Self their senses have to align as to what the target's name is. For non-sapient lifeforms that are sentient it gets murkier, hence why Shiggy wasn't quite sure how it would work in example cases like a dog etc

Seems like Miss Cassie's quirks have a lot of technicalities attached to it. Makes sense because OP quirks have to have technical limitations or else the story would end too soon. I know I've seen people ask " why not just say die or your life ends " instead of " your heart stops " ? To me that's the same damn thing, but if people need logic I would assume "life" or "death" are intangible, untouchable concepts. It seems like these rules need to very specific with what can physically happen to certain extent when it comes to using it on a person directly. If also seems to act on belief too which just adds on technicalities. Basically shit'll work if the plot wants it to or not. Lol Am I in the ball park with this? Yes and no, they are not directly referenced in the manga but instead alluded to, example was last season where Deku says All Might got Dekus gauntlets from America, that’s enough for fans of the movie to know who he got them from without specifically referring to the movie. It’s gets a little more complicated when you think of the 2nd movie as the only manga reference for the movie was an image of Nine in one panel however if we consider it canon then technically people could argue that One For All should have 10 users and Bakugo’s vestige and quirk should be a part of All For One. So unlike most anime movies the MHA movies are considered semi canon so if you watched them they could be thought of as part of the story however if you were a manga only fan not watching them does not affect the story at all.
