❌❌Absolutely NOT. 🙅‍♂️ That answer shows a complete lack or disregard for basic physics concepts such as Newton's Second Law of Motion and how Mechanical Energy is transferred. The show spent a great deal of time illustrating to the audience that our current knowledge of physics IRL aligns with the physics in the show. So no matter how much suspension of disbelief I award you, you cannot go against the laws of physics. Secondly, the highest grade armor currently available can stop up to the 30-06(google 30-06 win vs 338 lapua picture). It's fucking MASSIVE! It has an effective penetrating range at 1700m(over 1 mile). Compare it to the damage a WAY smaller bullet(like a .380) does to a person in body armor. Look at google image of this('Officer shares photo of bruise caused by bullet'). I can disprove this theory of yours with the shows timeline of events alone btw... but lets pretend that your theory is true and they developed a super thin body armor from nanofiber that can stop the penetration force of the .338 Lapua. The distance of this shot can't be more than a few blocks away since the line of site in front of the UN building is pretty limited from the direction he was facing. So the shot was relatively close range. The armor in the show was clearly very thin, But if it was nanofiber that would be super plausible and they are probably strong enough to stop the penetrating force of the bullet by literally cutting it down in a million directions from the interwoven fiber. Unfortunately, you usually have to choose between Stopping power(Armor pen) and Energy Dispersal from blunt force trauma. Blunt force trauma from a bullet of that mass to a super thin layer of armor would not disperse energy effectively at all. Even though it doesn't penetrate the armor, it's going to SHATTER your bones and cause insane internal bleeding. Getting shot at the chest around his heart would have Killed him from blunt force trauma alone. 16 grams at 2,890 to 3,000 ft/s ... you are not surviving that hit to the chest, no matter how impenetrable your body armor is. especially not armor that thin. You would need super thick, specially designed plates to disperse the FORCE that is going to hit your chest. He dead bro.

You know what's funny. The aliens said that in their word what they say "is", like there's no lie, no story, no need to even talk. That's a wallfacer. So in order to combat them, humans are actually adapting into them. Watch the aliens turn out to actually be us or something in the future lol. I think of the greatest things Saul could do is literally. Provide support the developing world. Water, food, electricity, infrastructure and internet. This series is based off of a trilogy of books and if they keep this energy, season 2 is going to be phenomenal. The Dark Forest was my favorite of the trilogy…let’s just say you’ll be seeing a lot more of Saul. Also Wallfacers have access to limitless resources as long as they don’t break any laws. They can put pieces in place without revealing their true plan. The way they operate is actually mad interesting and hopefully we get to see it.

Just to give a little context as a book reader, Book 1 ended around Ep. 5 and these last three eps were a combination of the beginning of Book 2 and 3, which is why I think they were a bit slower. Season 2 is gonna be insane tho. I can't wait.

On Roshi's comment about people doing things for the benefit of present individuals...there are people who see humanity as a group spanning across time, rather than just the current generation. The majority of people definitely see things on a smaller time frame. I'd estimate 1% of humanity thinks from an ancestral/descendant perspective. We've lost that due to the decline of familial ties and the increased individualistic mindset of the West. (It's also why I fixing climate change is so low on the priority list. Ye Wenjie's final communication to Saul was a message that was obscured from the Sophons by being hidden within the metaphors of a joke (in the logic of the show; something slightly different occurs in the book). If you read the next book in the series, The Dark Forest, the message hidden within the joke is clear, but Saul most likely won't figure it out until near the end of the next season, akin to what happens in the book. The San-Ti do not know what the hidden message was, but they know that he was the only person she communicated seriously with after declaring her intent to stop them.

Okay haven't read novels but I think I figured out what the big plan is. So the wall facers are supposed to make a plan without telling anyone, the reason I think our guy got chosen is because he has no previous knowledge in warfare sad but the san ti probably have access to all our strategy that we developed over history. So someone making a plan without any info of that won't be really able to be predicted at all. The first obvious problem is how would you be able to make a plan in your head that is not possible, that is probably true but in the previous episode when the Einstein joke got told I think 95% of the story was litterely just fluff and intended to make no sense, but it had a moral lesson at the end that you got it was I think at the end she said jokes are all we have as humanity or something. I think the moral of the story was that to send the message at the end and it was "encrypted" by all the fluff about einstein and god because the first time they heard one of our stories Red Riding hood, they did not understand the moral of the story. About lying and the hidden message of the story. I think if they have a message to someone they can hide with just tongue and cheek humour to hide the underlying message. And that way they will be able to at least in some way give messages to someone else. I also think the reason our guy got chosen is they are just making a huge gamble on him. Because no matter what he says or do's we can't read his mind so no idea if it is actually honest. He might have spend in his own time making plans. And they are just hoping whether before he dies he hides it in a message as just a comedy book or something with the strategy hidden in it. or whether he gets frozen and woken up. And they are just hoping that when the day comes he says "I was acting the entire time about doing nothing being mad and all that" that's the gamble they are taking I think with him. The Santi are probably aware of that and just in case are trying to kill him because why not better safe than sorry.

One thing I do hate about the adaptation is the whole "hallucination" thing the sophons can suddenly do. Makes zero sense. All they do is pass back and forth through the pupil to make them see the numbers. Going from that to full on visual hallucinations just for some horror movie jumpscares is silly. Also, y'all don't have to worry about this getting renewed, it'll get 3 seasons.

the reason the wallfacer project works in theory is because, lets say saul orders 5000 nuclear bombs, the san ti could of course stop them from being made, but then they dont know if saul planned for them to stop him and now they'd be helping him by stopping the bomb production. They basically have to 50/50 whether hindering the apparent plan would actually benefit the real plan so the best case for them would be to wait until the literal last minute when the plan is being fully executed without an ounce of doubt to try and stop it right then and there instead of spending 400 years not knowing if what theyre doing is actually hindering the wallfacers or mot
