Thing is, Frieren says her intuition is always right. She is being petty, but Frieren can't see herself becoming a 1st class mage, meaning she is also as stubborn/petty to the point of not being able to compromise. I also think the other part of it is, Frieren doesn't care about being 1st class; she has no ambition to do so and therefor is unmotivated to visualize herself becoming one.

@bark That's kinda just Serie trying to poach Fern lol, she gives the same spiel to every student she's had. Fern has talent and does have a ton of potential though, but she's still ultimately a human limited by her lifespan like Flamme and Lernen. She's done nothing yet to suggest she'd ever reach the heights of Serie or the Demon King. Atm in the manga she's still low-tier First Class Mage. Will have to wait for more chapters though, who knows.

i think its more on the fact that Frieren studies and looks for "low" level spells like being able to talk fast without biting ur tongue whilst Serie has omega level spells etc. Certain spells take long to learn (relative to humans) but since an elf's lifespan is long it doesnt mean much

Serie saying Frieren was unskilled as a mage for how old she is, is a wild thing. But when you take in account the whole mana detection weakness thing where its an incredibly novice thing that Frieren doesn’t know how to do, it actually kinda makes sense. Just like with how she talks about and views time passing, from our perspective as humans Frieren is fucking nuts and insane but from the perspective of elves and their lifespans, she’s still relatively a novice Especially when compared to Serie and Kraft who are just so goddamn old and have been around so damn long they’ve probably seen 100 demon kings, 100 heroes party, 2000 different empires, whatever that its not even a matter of being overleveled, they’re just flat out not in the game atp

I think the influence that Frieren had on Himmel when they first met, shouldn't be understated. Magic is primarily meant for combat and it was introduced that way to human society. In that instant, Frieren changed the perspective for Himmel, making magic beautiful for the first time, rather than something that is used by demons/humans to kill.

Serie is far superior to Frieren and would clap her. However while skill, mana and experience will carry you most of the way some mages just have a scissor to your paper it's about compatibility. However considering Frieren makes up for her lazy nature, that her mana control is so good few can exploit her weakness. I just see this as a WIN considering there is immense MORE potential for Frieren and if she gets a serious training arc she would only grow. Imagine Solo Leveling but Mc just stopped at level 50 and stayed there Thanks for the reaction it was great :)

My theory: The Goddess is based off Serie. Frieren says, "A mere 10 years." Serie says, "A mere 1000 years." Serie is confirmed to be as old as Human civilization itself. She's lived for 10 times as long and she also nerfed herself to get skills specifically for fighting demons. Pretty much. The old guy noticed Frieren was suppressing her mana and thought Frieren's actual mana was equal to Serie's not noticing that Serie's mana was also suppressed. So Frieren's unsuppressed mana is around the equivalent to Serie suppressing her mana.

The show has already mentioned that Kraft has already saved the world in the past, so long ago that no one even remembers who he and his companion are anymore. As for future characters, there will be a few other warriors and heroes who are introduced who are powerful enough to defeat Demons in the tier of the Seven Sages of Destruction, but there's still no one in the same tier as Serie yet.

Another thing to consider about Serie is that she didn't want all those humans to die. She would rather fail them than to just be heartless and massacre them all in a test. It was a mercy and in my mind compassion for the human mages. She didn't have to do that. Her test was multi-purposed. It adds layers to her and I loved trying to figure out her motivations. And the suppression bit, that was mentioned tells us that Serie's suppressed mana is equivalent to Frieren's fully released mana.

One thing you'll notice about Serie is that she gives off a tough and uncaring exterior while often times acting in an opposite way. She said she only taught Flamme on a whim and disagreed with her ambitions to spread magic to humans but still remembered her time with her and even 1000 years later is still helping humans grow with this new association. In a way, humanity's magic started with Serie. I think Flamme had a significant impact on her life in a similar way Fern has impacted Frieren.

Serie is a total tsundere. She hates training humans, but she perfectly remembers every detail about who all her apprentices were and how they acted. Plus, the moment a talented human shows up, she immediately offers an apprenticeship, despite how annoying their short lifespans are. And she views Frieren as her hippy granddaughter who refuses to join her corporate empire to run a small business, and consequently not living up to her potential. So that talk those two had was basically a grandmother lecturing her granddaughter about not making the most of what she was given.

Nah, I still believe this will get Season 2. Actually, there is nothing to worry about Madhouse, despite their track record of not continuing the next season. The bigger role in how an IP will get the next season is the distributor, and Toho Animation pretty much always gives their anime another season. Just look at JJK, Haikyuu, Mushoku Tensei, Spy x Family, Dr. Stone, BNHA, Psycho-Pass, etc

Frieren's unsuppressed mana being equal to Serie's SUPPRESSED mana is crazy. Frieren is depicted as a god amongst the human mages, but Serie is a god to Frieren. Series says this episode that Frieren relatively unskilled for an elf her age since she spent centuries just bumming around in the woods not doing anything until Himmel recruited her. Serie is so powerful that Frieren states that she can't even envision beating Serie, let alone fighting against her to begin with. She's arguably the only character that could have gone 1v1 with the Demon King, but chose not to because she's a warmonger. Really puts into perspective how ancient she is, that Richter even called her a demigod, and the being closest to the Goddess in the modern age. "I am a Great Mage from the Mythical Era which existed so long ago that you Demons have completely forgotten such fear."

i think its more on the fact that Frieren studies and looks for "low" level spells like being able to talk fast without biting ur tongue whilst Serie has omega level spells etc. Certain spells take long to learn (relative to humans) but since an elf's lifespan is long it doesnt mean much

Frieren has a certain skill when it comes to magic, but that will be revealed with time. Basically Serie is the All-Knowing and Frieren can adapt to anything given enough time. Serie still slams Frieren tho, no chance there - at least for now.
