Nothing Ever Stops Existing

I watched devs so that I could watch that bonus video. I enjoyed it, thanks! Now I only wish I had people to talk to about the show lol. It's cruel to introduce someone to a show like that when it's past its prime.

This was so, so good. I cried three or four times while watching it—then turned around and watched it a second time to digest it a little more. (Really stunning work with the mirrors. You waited just the right amount of time before having the first doppelgänger speak—I had became so engrossed in that monologue that I was started when the first one spoke.)

And I thought this was going to be about plastics

I saw a tweet saying this video was coming, bought 1000xresist, thought I’d play a few hours, looked up through my tears at the closing credits realizing 13 hours had passed. Never would’ve even noticed this game otherwise.

Gorgeous work, as always, Mr Geller. It reminds me of a passage from Joanna Newsom’s song “Time, As A Symptom”, an anthem to time, transience, causality, love, birth, death and eternity: “But stand brave, life-liver, bleeding out your days in the river of time. Stand brave: time moves both ways, in the nullifying, defeating, negating, repeating joy of life; the nullifying, defeating, negating, repeating joy of life. The moment of your greatest joy sustains: not axe nor hammer, tumor, tremor, can take it away, and it remains. It remains. And it pains me to say, I was wrong. Love is not a symptom of time. Time is just a symptom of love (and of the nullifying, defeating, negating, repeating joy of life; the nullifying, defeating, negating, repeating joy of life). Hardly seen, hardly felt— deep down where your fight is waiting, down 'till the light in your eyes is fading: joy of life. Where I know that you can yield, when it comes down to it; bow like the field when the wind combs through it: joy of life. And every little gust that chances through will dance in the dust of me and you, with joy-of-life. And in our perfect secret-keeping: One ear of corn, in silent, reaping joy of life.”

I realize how it wouldn't have fit into the video thematically, but the whole time I was secretly hoping you'd mention Kill 6 Billion Demons and how it handles the horror of determinism.

Love the editing on this video. It's cool to see the topics of existence, determinism, and consciousness through the lenses of so many creative works. That's kind of the only way my brain can grab onto topics this big and abstract. Great work as always!

God, I so wanna watch it but I don't want to get spoiled to half of those things you mentioned, they're still in my to-do list!

This made me cry but in a good way. Going to go watch Devs now. Thank you for making this.

Fuck Jacob, ending such an emotionally resonant video with Possible Futures from Citizen Sleeper brought me to tears very suddenly!

Excellent as ever

Despite your often grim topics, I find you to be one of the most wholesome essayists on youtube. Thanks for your fantastic work!

Every video you make is like growth hormone for the brain. A dime a dozen they most certainly are not. Thank you for all that you do.

Nice to see Pauline Oliveros mentioned. I imagine you found her through Naissance too?

Oh no, I still have to finish 1000xResist before watching this one
