As Maomao said she has "no mother" and Lakan is "that man" so she has dulled the idea of love when it comes to herself. It doesn't help that she feels more comfortable being "undesirable" with her fake freckles and that she's aware of her standing in comparison to Jinshi. I think with a normal man of her standing she could entertain romantic pursuits but with Jinshi it feels even more unbelievable since he has the pick of any woman in the world. To her, she's the "most beautiful man in the nation plaything". Still dense tho ofc.

I also think jnshi knows how ,such Maomao cares for her sisters and if a bit of money makes her sister happy and in turn Maomao happy then that's a small price to him. As for the jealous look I think it was more the dude said Maomao drops her guard around him and made Jinshi jealous as a "no I'm closer to her then you" kinda thing.
