Hi Jacob, I became a patron because of this essay. Something about the tone of horror games with these beautiful pieces that give you a moment to breathe resonated with me. This is going to sound weird but I found myself returning to this essay multiple times afterwards when I needed to take a break from the real world and just enter a mental state where nothing could upset me for a few moments. I'm sorry if this is so personal but I wanted you to know that your art became a save room theme for me and I just wanted to thank you for your insight, your perspective and passion for video games.

I think we as a society should endorse talking about RE4 more, it should be taught in schools.
Japes aside, great commentary! I appreciate you answering my question regarding SHs vocal tracks, and I totally get where you're coming from regarding lyrics making it harder to put your own take and interpretation as to what they mean (a lot of SHs songs are super literal most of the time).
Also, Akira Yamaokas moog is haunted.

Haha yes I was told, but I prefer the explanation that SH2's studio is canonically haunted

Hey Jacob, someone's probably already told you by now but modern mixing boards often have levels that move to match presets, or in response to changes in the software. He's probably doing some mixing in the software and it's causing the levels on the board to change to match it.
