The man seemed just as vicious as the man verbally tearing down Carmy. Gordon did his time and earned his place , and then became a tyrant in his own kitchens lol I don’t think Gordon’s mentor was this bad, but yes, chefs can get that scary.

When Carmen was cooking them frozen fish stick boxes he definitely going through it because I feel like even sleepwalkers would take them out 🤣. Sidenote I kinda feel bad for Pete he probably caught the two piece just because Carmen was having a bad day unless there's a bigger story he probably just went hey carmy how's New York 😂. Clearly sugar wears the pants in that relationship he thought she told him to shut up and he was wasn't gonna say another word😭.

And you understand why in like hugh end restaurants why mistakes are not accepted since it affects not just the reviews of the restaurant but the chefs reputation, front of house. Hell people kill themselves if the lose a michellen star. If you have time you should watch 90s documentaries like boiling point just to understand.

The culture is slowly changing, but the intergenerational-career trauma has deep scars in the industry. I've been in places where the chef would break down cooks emotionally or physically throw plates and pots at the cooks. The opening scene brought back a lot of ptsd in my colleagues who watched it.
