But once he noticed Takamichi wasn't going to back down he got scared.

It's not bad writing, it's pretty easy to understand. Emma was a necessary casualty that had to be dealt with and he was able to do it quickly and succintly. Plus it helped that Emma meant nothing to him aside from being an unneeded variable who had to be removed. Takemichi means A LOT to Kisaki, even in the future Kisaki cried right before killing him and he is clearly in some way obsessed with him. There's also the fact that Takemichi is so different from him and his ideals that it scares, baffles and enthralls him all at once. Dude doesn't know what to make of Takemichi, kill him or recruit him, and that draws a genius like him short.

Lol, I know it's like a joke to laugh at these guys committing random violence and calling it "kid's stuff" and like y'all have your opinion about the "realism" and the gun issue, but like y'all literally just need to do a little research into bosozoku gangs in Japan. Biker gangs were historically juvenile's doing some pretty fucked up shit. They didn't have guns, but yeah they would get into gang fights, commit random violence, drag people alive by their motorbikes, bash people's faces in with bats, commit s*xual crimes, etc. etc. And yeah they were kids, and they literally just considered it kid shit. So like aside from the time leaping plot, and the fact that the kids are durable as hell, a lot of this shit isn't too far from reality. It was fucked up kids doing shit just cause they could and not being able to get a gun easily isn't really an annoying plot point imo.

If you think about it. Kisaki always been on demon time but he never was truly that guy. Yes he’s smart. But all the people he’s killed, either he had somebody else to do it or he would sneakily do it himself when they’re not paying attention or tied up. He never tried to kill somebody who’s expecting it or doesn’t care if they die. He has never really truly threw hands either. I mean look at this battle so far. Everyone was below brawling and he up there just watching. He did the same thing during the Valhalla battle. He was no where to be found until it was time to execute his plan. Hanma and other fighters are the ones who does most the physical work. Emma was like an adrenaline rush for him since nobody expected it. But Takemichi is the first person not scared to die by him. He’s not used to people not doing that. He’s never killed anyone face to face in that manner. And mind you this is young Kisaki. Older Kisaki is probably more of a seasoned up close killer. And Takemichi has already faced death multiple times and closely almost died when he got shot in the future this season so death by a bullet isn’t nothing to him anymore.
