it definitely worked. tooked the DARE program in 6th grade and have never EVAH did any drugs. i breathe in air and drink water mmm mmm. thing is, individuality was not considered when making up these programs, neither was mental capacity. some people are too weak to fix their problems the "hard" way (which is really just the long way) and others are not given the knowledge that there is another way out of their situation. so instead of going to therapy and getting the help they need, they self medicate. dumped? get high and forget the pain. stressed at work? get drunk and forget the pain. saw my exes do this. me? i self medicated with music and meditation. after therapy, i used the skills they taught me, such as journaling. sadly, the average person is caught up in the rat race of society and dont care about bettering themselves so they ignore the bad aspects of drugs and focus on the benefits and if you try to help them out? "you lame" "nothing wrong with having fun" "everybody smokes you tripping". when you surround yourself with only people who engage in your vises, its easy to believe EVERYONE is as weak. just like scared straight worked for some and didnt for others, "just say no" was a success to those who are capable of taking the message to heart. to the rest? i pray for you cause thats all i can offer to someone who'd rather "fit in", "be cool/fun" instead of loving themselves enough to be happy alone instead of miserable with folks who dont love you. "if you dont love yourself how the hell you gonna love somebody else" and filling your body with that poison? no love at all
