Mask Girl Ep 7

Did they stick the landing for the ending?

Comments

they fumbled the ending

Jaiden Williams

yo, what if there's a bonus episode where they still could've got the kidney after she died, and her daughter found out and now wants revenge ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ

hypokokoro

I mean the grandmother literally didn't believe that her son had graped her in court. None of it would have mattered. Like yeah, would we probably have received a cool shocked face for 4 seconds, sure... But the lady was deranged for half the damn season.

Darren Banks

I think that they showed Mo mi filling Kang's desire for a loving child in all the ways she wanted but never got from her own son, and then still try to kill her, to show that it wouldn't matter if she knew Mo mi was her granddaughter. Essentially Mo mi had already become her granddaughter in that scene, and it didn't matter

Paulothy

omg yes plz. Kingdom or Flower of Evil

Gloccr

ikr flower of evil is perfect in everyday. im struggling to find a kdrama as good as that. im watching bad and crazy right now. its frustrating but pretty good. I like the comedic relief in it

Gloccr

That old lady was basically Jason or the undertaker the way she kept coming back. It was absolutely unacceptable that momi couldn't handle her she's old as hell! One swift kick to her ankle would have ended her mortal kombat x-ray style. Overall interesting show with a lackluster ending. Side note she had a little joker energy going there for a second you get what you f8n deserve. Even though she didn't deserve it especially mimo.

Leo

Overall it was an enjoyable show, the ending was kind of iffy though. Like her not finding out that she was her granddaughter was stupid. It's one of those things that the whole plot hinted at happening but I guess they wanted to subvert expectations, so they just didn't do it. Which just shows that subverting expectations to cause shock factor really isn't the best choice all the time. I'd probably give the show a 7.5/10.

EmoBurrito

yes but its alright for me but a lot of action

yoongi

10/10 for me! I still wished the crazy old lady learned that momi was her granddaughter BUT we already saw in earlier episodes with mi mo's friend (who got shot) had tried to reason with the crazy old lady which didn't work. The crazy old lady was too far gone and most likely...actually DEFINITELY would not care if that was her granddaughter. She would have tried justify through her faith or craziness that it was her duty to kill her own granddaughter or think she has blood of mi mo the person who killed her son. PLUS this is a tragic storyline...it wasn't going to have a good ending for mi mo, (or the grandma, and crazy old lady anyways). Also, mi mo would have gotten an even longer sentence or maybe even death sentence (not sure if they got that in Korea lol).

Benji

I heard about it, is it popular right now?

MM

Tbf, like Roshi said, Mo-Mi jumped two stories, got hit by a car and hiked up a mountain for a couple miles. That said, I do think grandma was too terminator though lmao

Nita - Kento's Widow

You have to do Ballerina next, it's a Korea movie not a drama but it's just as dark and crazy as this show, more action focused though. It was recently the highest viewed international movie on Netflix.

Somnia

Kangophobia is punished by Kang's law

n momo

I believe that Mi-Mo never said about the father because she considered that he did not exist, for her Mo-Mi just does not have a father, she did not want her daughter to have the label "child of rape". Same at the end, she does not want to recognize this fact because she does not want her paternal grandmother to be part of her daughter's entourage and it is to protect her daughter's mental health that she does not say nothing about it. That's what I understood when Mo-Mi says at the end that she no longer dreams of Mask Girl and that she no longer feels hatred towards others.

n momo

The lack of urgency in freeing Mi-Mo was bothering the fuck outta me like why not just kill the granny when Mo-Mi knocked her out?! This makes the second time she didn't confirm the kill and it's costs Mo-Mi both times smh. Anyway I just want to say again fuck granny throw the whole bloodline away except of course Mi-Mo.

Jamaal Ellison

if you watch Uncanny Encounter you'll see why that old lady got hands Lmaoo

Nick

Yโ€™all she knew her son raped her she was just in denial and didnโ€™t want to believe it, they said it in court or on the news

Teacupcats

Please react kingdom kdrama๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™

sabrina

This won over flower of evil smh

Earth

ending was good. subverted expectations and not every ending has to be in favor of the protag, this story was gonna be bittersweet either way cuz she was going back to prison no matter what. why did she need to find out? if you look at her character, her hearing that revelation would have just angered her more and she probably would have killed the daughter. she hated everything to do with Mask Girl so she would have been disgusted by the fact her son had a kid by her imo. i feel roshi though, I had this at a 9 but the last episode was pretty weak even if the ending made sense in context. shit like Mo-mi getting hit by cars and falling off buildings as a 40-50 year old was flagrant bullshit.

DIOR

yea this show started sad and will end that way

yoongi

Honestly didn't even realize that was her granddaughter until watching it a second time with yall haha. But I loved it beginning to end. I probably wouldn't have liked it as much if the old lady found out mi mo was her granddaughter and then decided to spare her. I feel like that would've been a disservice. Also, I'm pretty sure ju oh nam's mom knew what her son did, but was just in complete denial. Like, Mo Mi could have told her exactly what happened and that old lady was not going to believe her lol. But, I'm glad you two checked it out though :)

translucentmin

yaaaaaaaaasss. ironic poetic justice

rickie woodson

the ending is fine. this show has been surprise after surprise. im glad its not the classic hollywood "happily ever after". this is a tragic tale ala shakespeare, it needed a tragic ending.

rickie woodson

this ending is like one of those bad endings u get when u finish a game

mello

the granny was trying to kill mimo by carbon monoxide poisoning, hence what she was cooking up in the basement

mello

i just feel so bad for mo-mi , she had such a tragic life from beginning to end

Christian

This was an odd one.

Twin Hallow

You telling me Momi who has straight bodies couldnt beat up this one old lady lol. The endurance on this 70 yr old lady or whatever is wild haha.

Twin Hallow

Will they react to Pluto Netflix anime ?

Kiran

I liked the ending, I honestly didn't even pickup that she was her grand daughter until the second watch through but I also think it didn't matter that it wasn't brought up. What purpose would it serve for Mo-mi to tell her? She was in denial that her son even forced himself on Mo-mi so would she even believe her? There was no intention to reconcile that relationship from both sides, she ruined Mi-mo's life and the damage was already done. She wanted to kill a child for revenge she probably wouldn't even accept her as a granddaughter. It also speaks to the irony of the situation that she was so blinded by hate and revenge for her son that she died trying to kill her granddaughter, which fits her character.

Ebankz

sheera is so right if i knew i was in the same room alone w mask girl hell nah she can go

yoongi

Yehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Hasnain Khan

this reminds me of tangled but murder lol

yoongi

6/10 ending I really feel it falls flat, was pretty disappointed by the last few episodes when the show had such a strong start. The acting was amazing, the music fit, the suspense, the twists were great. Its literally the resolution that was bad.

NaytKayruii

yeah that ending was supremely underwhelming with how many opportunities they had to go into stuff they just refused not to

nami

8/10 the ending could've been better but its still a pretty good show

FlyGod

I thought this show was amazing. I liked how Ms. Kang's actress did a complete 180 from The Glory and was an absolute psychopath. Give her some kind of acting award. Also I don't think telling The Grandma that Mi-Mo was her Granddaughter would have made any difference seeing as her beef is with Mo-Mi for killing her son specifically and she's insane so I doubt she would have cared. I think the ending was fine too, After everything Mi-Mo has been through with wondering if her mother truly loved her or who she even was she ended up sacrificing her life just to protect her. She's even able to see the kind of person her Mother really was with the pageant show clip. The kind that wanted to be loved by all. 8.5/10, Only second to The Glory.

KiRissa

This ending got this lady isekai'd and became Ms. Kang in The Glory. Went from murderer to abuse victim that's crazy ๐Ÿคฃ

NovaVortex

Good lord. Well now I gotta watch the interview-

Nita - Kento's Widow

I def agree that telling Kyung-Ja the truth would've done nothing, I think people just wanted to see her reaction really. She was too far gone for that to have any affect on her, unfortunately. Like yeeaaah, she would've still went after them and I think the revelation would have even more emotional damage done to Mi-Mo.

Nita - Kento's Widow

That evil old lady was a whole Terminator. There's no way.

MoonChild88

Sorry I'm back. I watched the interview with the actors and it's interesting to see Go Hyun-Jung, the older Mo-Mi's actress explain the last scene. The director followed Hyun-Jung's lead: she explains that Mo-Mi upon seeing her daughter in that situation, and even as she dies, she would feel very ashamed, almost embarrassed. Note that when she passes, she finds it hard to look into Mi-Mo's eyes unlike her Mother. That may give another insight as to why she doesn't try to say much, all she's focused on is keeping Mi-Mo safe and doing her duty as a Mother, without, weirdly, embarrassing or shaming her.

Chelsea Bondzanga

great series but a underwheling ending with fumbling the Ju Nam detail

Delinda Arts

Personally the ending is why I was like y'all should watch something else. The first half was so strong but I really disliked what they did with Momi. I think it would have been stronger if Momi was able to be with her daughter at the end and be the mother she never got to have. After all, to me, Momi was a victim of circumstance. The man that she killed was someone who was actively SA-ing her and imo, she was justified. She did her time and her ending was so sad/brutal for her original crime of just wanting to be loved & unfortunately meeting a man who was obsessed with her.

PetersThimble

I'm glad you and sheera liked mask girl! I thought it was a fantastic show, though REALLY depressing and disturbing. my one complaint was momi's ending... she deserved so much better. but then again, if oh-nam and momi had gone to trial, she would still have gotten a higher sentence bc of how the laws work in korea so i guess she never stood a chance for a happy ending... I'd still give mask girl a 9.5/10!

cami ู‹

I think no one even know MoMi and the son had sex except her friend back in ep3. Kang probably think MiMoโ€™s father is just some random guy momi seduced after plastic surgery. The lady yelling in the courtroom is handsome monkโ€™s mother

Arima Kana

i don't know why this show was so hype, tbh. it was good, but i've definitely seen better. i think a 7 is higher than i would give it. but the acting was good, so there's that.

Snax

tf did mrs kang do tho?

Snax

Whewww that was good ๐Ÿ’ฏ

Eliana

Iโ€™m so pissed/sad. Thatโ€™s it. Thatโ€™s the comment๐Ÿ˜ฉ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ

Eliana

I understand that Mo-Mi not sharing the fact that Mi-Mo was old girl's grandaughter leaves a lot to be desired. The realisation was something we were all waiting for but I agree with Nita. Mo-Mi is Mask Girl. She is a spectacle; she is desired, she is hated but no one really knows much more beyond the crime or the streaming. Even in prison, she became so quiet in her later years nobody knew if she was faking being a Christian or not. She has kept so much of herself hidden bc everyone had said it was ugly, and then she literally had to go in hiding and hide some more. She was only really free behind the mask where she got to do what she loved and be loved. Mo-Mi probably thought that being in Mi-Mo's life would bring her down, so she stayed away from her. And in turn, the truth of Mi-Mo's conception stays hidden, there is no trace to drag her down or pull her back. Only us as the viewers know the truth of what she is, and now, so does Mi-Mo.

Chelsea Bondzanga

couple things: oh-namโ€™s mother tried to kill mi-mo via monoxide poisoning from a charcoal grill โ€” youโ€™ve seen it before in beef and squid game, itโ€™s a common korean method. i get all of the arguments for mo-mi dropping the paternity reveal and while i do kinda wish it wouldโ€™ve happened from a drama standpoint, a kid finding out theyโ€™re the product of rape is a terrible thing to have to endure in and of itself, even leaving out the hell she went through just because of her *mom*โ€™s reputation (which was self-defense!) third, the restaurant boss from attorney woo wasnโ€™t the officer โ€” but that actor DOES show up beardless in moving, which makes that comment extra funny to me. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Bria A.

I actually like the fact that the grandma never found out that Mi-mo was her granddaughter because what was supposed to happen if she found out? All of a sudden she doesn't want revenge, goes to jail, becomes a better person and has a relationship with her granddaughter after everything she's done to her? I'm sorry but if that would've happened I would've thrown this show in the trash ๐Ÿ˜ญ From the moment we got introduced to her it was evident that she was delulu. Even after finding out the type of person her son was she still portrayed him as a perfect son who would NEVER do anything like sexual assault. So I think if the reveal happened, she would've thought it was a lie (A trick so she would spare Mo-mi's life) which wouldn't have made a different because it would've shown how even crazier she is, which we already knew because she went as far as to try and kill a child. idk I just think the reveal would've been pointless but I get that people would expect a reveal like that to happen. I just wish the ending was Mo-mi and Mi-mo living happily together somehow because their story was tragic and neither of them deserved what happened to them

Erica Collins

This show was going so well (even while being unhinged af) then that ending... I wish Mo-Mi told Ms. Kang about what her son truly did & was like instead. Ending was okay.

Sham3ful

With how this story was going after Kyung-Ja was revealed to be alive and what I've been told about most endings to K-dramas, I saw no satisfying ending unfortunately. I was happy Mi-Mo lived, at least. I pretty much agree with everything y'all said, the overall series dropped to a 7/10 and not because it was tragic, but because it left something to be desired. That said, I realize that's part of the point of the story. ''Mask Girl'' and everything she went through was never really found out or understood, just a woman who was thought to be a crazy spectacle rather than thinking of the hurt and abuse that led to her actions. Mo-Mi wanted to be loved by everyone and wasn't, but she has the love of her daughter. She died protecting her, and I take comfort in the fact that she died knowing that. ... This series depressed the Hell outta me lmao Anyway, The Glory still on top for me, but enjoyable series!

Nita - Kento's Widow

This show could of been really good , but the ending completely threw me off ๐Ÿคก

Kumi Chan

Not Ms Kang nigga ๐Ÿ˜ญ

eastbaynick

Aye like roshi said. She jumped 2 stories, got hit by a car and hiked up a mountain for a couple miles.

TrinitytheApostle

The creators. Seemed so adept at throwing things into chaos, with all the twists that kept you at the edge of your seat. But really fell at the finish line with how to resolve things. It's like they couldn't find a satisfying end with either Kang or MO MI winning. Cuz honestly I wouldn't have cared who won tbh. It would've been one thing if they went with something tragically realistic but instead they quite literally turned it into a drama and let the old woman shoot and kill MO MI. The ending gave nobody satisfaction and so many things that seemed important to the plot almost seemed useless by the end. 6/10 for me

TrinitytheApostle

This whole series was depressing ngl. mc character development was great tho

Yoxxhio

Why do you hate liu kang ๐Ÿฅบ

Kumi Chan

Im mad asf the police ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™€๏ธ ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๏ธ sat there holding balloons like clowns

Kumi Chan

I'm fucking heated!!! I hate all niggas named Kang now I mean all of them. I'm talking Kang (the alien from the Simpsons) Ms kang, Lu Kang, Kang the conqueror all of them. ๐Ÿ˜ค

Jamaal Ellison

they def could've done better with the mom. you're telling me this old lady is overpowering you?

britt

tbh the ending made me really sad. i really wanted them to be able to properly reunite but im glad she was able to prove that she cared for her by giving her life for her daughter
