He had one second of being scary and I wish he showed that side a bit more than his clown shoes. Him being a genuine threat with The Love and him being a silly ass love guru was too short. Overall I just he had more time especially because he took over The Power ( i like her a lot )and they coulda did some and make a silly metaphore with The Power and The Love being "The Power of Love" lol and I wouldn't feel so disappointed. Pepe was just another unfortunate bystander of Kubo not having enough time along with his other problems. Oh well. As a Manga reader the next events will heal my wounds seeing them animated.

He just met his match, its nice to see a balance between bad ass and just goofy, I'm sure that Kubo meant for Pepe to be this way given that so far all we've seen are serious/badass quincies, so it's a nice balance, if he were another serious character it would be too repetitive cuz then what? another serious character shows up after him? and then another? I think it was a good choice to make Pepe like this. Your opinion valid though, Im just giving you my thoughts on probably why Kubo wrote this the way he did.

I'm a huge fan of black representation in any form in anime( don't bother pulling a racist characature arguments, I know you've seen black people who look like pepe before) and he had potential of being a serious threat with The Love and his selfish ambition to have everyone, even his own crew, kill eachother so that'd he'd hog all the goly for Ywach's favor. Sadly, Bleach fumbled the ball. This fight isn't original because Byakuya fought another black man themed around Love before but I aint gonna be stuck on that. They could have made Pepe the big threat that Liltoto made him out to be and more since Gigi The Zombie and Pepe The Love are basically the same power (little differences here and there) but again they made it seem Pepe was stronger than Gigi. He'll, he can steal Zanpakuto's with his Love. So it's sad it ended like this. My issue really with Pepe is that he acts like a fuckin clown. I dont mind the gross embodiment of being a cherub/cupid because it works for his design imo, it's just his clown shoes personality that ruined him for me. But hey, he technically WON against Byakuya the second the Zanpakuto fell I love with him. Byakuya had no weapons but the protection of his Ouken cloak and kido won't work at all on Pepe.

Dont forget, Ichigo isnt even a full shinigami, hes only part which means his life span is a human. Why would he actively get Ichigo involved in their problems if he could avoid it? When Ichigo got his powers, Isshin decided to let him pursue his own path through his own experiences. Ichigo's main growth comes from his growing strength. Especially regarding the Hollow side. Also you started this by saying how PePe was a nonserious villain but I could say the same for alot of Fairy Tail villains. Fairy tail had a lot more comedic/nonserious moments. I still rmber that Lullaby monster being a clown despite being hyped for being Zeref's deadly weapon. Fairy tail's world building is just a bunch of magical shit u find in the average fantasy world. Black Clover literally follows the same formula. "Natsu turning into a caring person after Gildarts taught him fear" boi he was still the same caring person. wtf you smoking. He never changed. Hes still the reckless, idiotic and fire eating bastard from ep 1. He ALWAYS cared about his friends. Literally Luffy saw his own brother's death before him. He saw his whole crew nearly got taken out in front of his eyes cuz hes weak. He suffered literal mental breakdown during the aftermath of Ace's death. Found hope in the fact that he still had friends left to go home to. He even inherited Ace's will through Red Hawk. Nah, Luffy may not be someone who had the most development but neither does Natsu. So your whole point about ichigo being an idiot to have to go to the zanpakuto creator holds zero water as it was the only way he was going to 1. Get his damn bankai reforged and 2. Unlock his true power which zangetsu was holding back from him. 4. See how there’s a whole lot of “cans” and “mights” in your statement regarding fairy tales world building? That’s because most of it amounts to absolutely nothing so you have to create fanfics in your head. You can do the same with with bleach. Certain clans have relic/ancestral zanpakuto. The SS in bleach is the east branch. Burn the witch tells us that there is a west branch to the SS. So there’s also a Nouth and South branch. There’s a whole hell realm that holds powerful dead captains from the past that we have yet to explore, ancient hollows etc. all of that is real and not fanfic like fairy tales “world building”. Remember, he orded his squad to murder thousands of innocent civilians in the Rukon district in cour 1 because there was an imbalance from the mass of hallow deaths (from the quincies) that would have fucked the human, spirit and hueco mundo worlds up. He didn't flinch making that choice and Yamamoto tried calling him out on that deed when it NEEDED to be done. Also love the fact that his form of "training" his Zanpakuto is conducting surgery and modifying it physically to do what he wants it to do along with modding his own body and using drugs. Ichigos journey throughout the series is about self acceptance, him coming to terms with himself and his own powers which he was at odds with. Ichigo is the only true hybrid in the series so the fact that you think his situation is similar to soul reapers in the academy is stupid af. Even amongst pure soul reapers the connection between a soul reaper and their weapon takes lots of time, bonding and understanding hence why characters like renji and rukias powers were incomplete and Kenpachi had to unlock his. Fairy tails world is boring the towns and continents you’re talking about hold no lore or mysteries and are place holders. The world seems big until you actually look at it and find out theirs nothing of actual interest there.

It doesn’t even come close to the lore the bleach verse holds. And if the “best thing” you got out of tybw was the power up for rukias bankai, Kenpachi shikai etc. then you’ve been watching with your eyes closed. Ignoring ichigos character development “the blade is me”, rukia and byakuyas character development with byakuya acknowledging rukia. Backstory and development for Kenpachi, lore of the soul king. Pepe who was an obvious gag character and never meant to be taken seriously. I don’t even think they’ve shown him killing anyone prior to this episode. And most of his mangas scenes were removed as well.

Lucy went from fearing those around her would use her due to her family name to trusting them with her life and is willing to risk her life for them. Cana went from scared of rejection to loving daughter. Gajeel went from being sadistic evil and brutal to kind caring and a likeable character. grey went from willing to sacrifice his life to beat an enemy to trusting in his friends to support him. laxus went from power hungry tyrant to a supportive senior that is willing to help those he loves without a second thought. thats not even a fraction of the characters i can name who developed. then we got luffy. started as in impulsive idiot who rushes into danger even at the risk of harm befalling those he cares about and stayed that way and learned nothing. nami went from greedy coward who would easily let others fight her battles for her and stayed the same. usopp stayed a liar and a coward. sanji actually got worse as he went from a passionate gentleman who pretty much embodies the word chivalrous to an idiot pervert. brook never changes either. franky never changed. zoro never changed. robin had some development but it stopped after ennies lobby. she just trusted them and nothing else changed. chopper is what usopp should have become. coward to actual brave character. wow 2 out of the entire cast had a single change through 1000 plus episodes/chapters. bleach characters did have character development as well. now for the fights. fairy tail is the only anime to make the power of friendship speech not cringy but actually got my adrenaline pumping. the dragon cry movie did make it cringy tho. the fights were extremely visually pleasing and almost none of them were won due to bs crap but actual logical reasons. the world of one piece is the better world but if we only choose fairy tail and bleach fairy tail wins easily. with bleach we have karakura town the hollows world which is just a barren wasteland meaning nothing of importance there and the SS a dull boring place that looks like someone copy and pasted most of the seritei. the rukon distirct is just slums. the fairy tail world had characters go to different cities different towns a different continent and the best part is even after its done we do not know the full scale of the world which leaves so many things that can be added for things like fanfics. so yea no you are wrong.

Just for the character design, powers and hype it brings to the table. TYBW is heavily rushed due to Kubo's failing health. The anime does drag out some fights to give them a little more content as well as adding stuff like Shinji's bankai. But its still just like the manga for the most part. If you are hoping for high levels of development, I wouldnt hold my breath. There wasnt enough time to flesh out the enemies nor most of the shinigamis either. With the Espadas, we got to see their backstories and even their interactions among themselves. They were definitely much more interesting. That being said, the only thing Fairy Tail beats Bleach in is maybe a more interesting story. The power system is garbage. Bleach had one of the most unique power systems (at least til this arc when the Quincies started hacking). World of Fairy Tail is alright. Its not all that great. Character development barely applies too. You called Luffy the same but Natsu remained the same person til the end too. Every arc ends with the power of friendship. And definitely NOT better scenes. Fairy tail had some hype scenes but not as crazy as Bleach. Obviously this is just opinion on my end.

2023-09-18 23:58:06 +0000 UTCyes well while i think bleach is a good anime/manga imo its not great. look at the entire thing as a whole and you tend to notice how little actually happens. in total there are like 3 arcs. the SS invasion. then the aizen war. then the TYBW. so to be honest its hyped up way more than it should be. fairy tail beats it easily. better character development. better story. better power system. better world. better scenes. another show that easily surpasses bleach is HXH. if it had actual regular uploads and not like one each month or 2 then it would be much better. i would mention OP but it has 0 character development. ace's death changed nothing with luffy. he continued to be the idiotic impulsive moron that puts everyone's lives in danger and never keeps his promises. he has ruined so many plans that were made for an extremely long time. i dont hate him or OP but i will not ignored the 0 character development anyone has.

2023-09-18 23:32:58 +0000 UTCThis isn’t the manga as the anime is not a 1:1 adaptation, so those complaints of criticism hardly applies anymore as it’s being more fleshed out. Be happy they got rid of him in less than half an episode. While it’s true that they’re a little too many fodderish enemies, the story is very poetically character driven and therefore a lot of characters or enemies get introduced all at once for the sake of tension, suspense, and drama, naturally a lot of them have to be dealt with quickly for the sake of progression. Out of the 26 SternRitters, at least about half of them were noteworthy and memorable threats. Focus on the positive side, not the negative, especially when we have Bleach back.

Love the little extensions with Byakuya taking out those 3 Quincys back to back, just like Ichigo had against the Bambies Holy forms that wasn’t shown in the manga. This wasn’t even a priority Ep yet they knew they had to go hard on it for the climax just like they did for EP 18, meaning these next 3 Eps (the last of which will be a high priority ep) are gonna be just like Eps 19-21, possibly even better, especially with the staff hyping it up. Bleach really said ANOTHER ONE.
